i plug mine into the computer and it charges but the computer doesn't acknowledge it as a device so I can't put music on it. any suggestions before I scrap it?

I bought the 1 gig clip. First the headphones shorted out then one week later the USB port broke loose making it impossible to recharge. It lasted all of 9 months.
@cuppholdeer just pull it off..for new ones its seems like it gonna break cauz its never been pulled off before .. i thought i was gunna break it so i never did it until i has it for 10months then i just said the hell with it ill do it.. and it worked. =].. but after you do that it comes off easier
Just received two 4GB in silver factory refurbished for $55 for the both delivered! Definitely not as nice as my larger 2 y/o Sony 8GB walkman... But for the money is is nice and not too worried about tossing in glove box, jacket, camping, fishing, tool box [contractor] etc. Basically places I don't want to take a $100 Sony. Has a lot of nice features that many price-point mp3's do not. Using a better set of Jlab ear buds I had lying around for better sound quality.

There is one other micro player that does sound better then the clip +, the Hisoundaudio ROCOO-A but from what I hear it has a lot of problems and isn't quite released yet. I agree with you though that the clip/clip + is the best bang for buck mp3 player on the market right now along with the fuze, and it stacks up quite nicely even to the teclast t51.

I originally went to Best Buy to get the clip but the Fuze was only 30 bucks more so I went wth that. Couldn't be happier. Sandisk's stuff is 100 times better than an iPod. Its cheaper sleeker and their techncal support is WAY beter too

I'm sorry I put that the wrong way. I can understand an individual being catholic, etc and being interested in technology, although this is still almost as strange as religious scientists. My actual dismay came from the intro of the clip and your channel- specific religious groups giving 'production support' to technology reviews is odd and then laughable when looking at religious history. The clip does NOT have a SD slot. For that capability you would have to look to the Sansa Clip+ --- We're supposed to get one in the lab for a review... but with the Christmas season coming up, who know when they'll get it to us.
Yes you can add as many micro sd cards as you want and you can also buy micro slot radio cards with 1000 songs already downloaded, They have oldies, rock, country, mixed media, 80's and 90's pop etc...
I found out by accident that connecting it to your car stereo USB slot recharges the clip battery. But I cant figure out why I have to press the skip song key twice to go to the next song and sometimes I only have to press it once.

Thanks for the video - got the 2gb clip from Future Shop (Canada) for 29 CAN! It works with Ubuntu Linux, but do read the ubuntu forum posts on setting it to the right usb mode (different from Windows), and use music player to load and delete files in Ubuntu (otherwise it keeps the deleted files in a hidden directory ON the player!)
i just bough today the sansa clip with 4 gb man its just awesome its has a lot of power,he can run music for 15 hours and you can clip it on clothes its perfect for poeple who does sports!
That's the thing that clip haters just don't get... sometimes you DON'T want a $300, 32GB monster with all the bells and whistles and just enough battery power to last a long bike ride. Sometimes you want small, inexpensive, and simple... That's when the clip is PERFECT.

Yes this one looks better, The Sansa Clip plus has a weird look. Though it does have an expandable slot that really makes it a deal. The 8gb version is going for only $69.99. Not bad and you will be able to expand it to at least 32 gb. Thats 40gb, 10000 songs a this dinky little player.

I had this particular gadget (1 GB) as to which I really enjoyed! Unfortunately I made the mistake of recharging the battery on my Mac rather than my PC and the screen froze. It never dawned on me that I couldn't use my Mac for this function, in fact it charged the battery just fine... but never the less, the LCD screen is frozen. Any suggestions for this problem? before you plus it in hit the settings menu....go to "usb mode" and switch it to "msc" itll work like a thumbdrive...the default mtp mode is some microsoft crap it probably tips out on a mac...

I like the way you compared it to the ipod shuffle, though, you forgot to mention another ipod disadvantage, which is itunes. iPod requires you to convert your music to itunes, when with Sansa, you just drag and drop your mp3 files as they are...

The Sansa Clip(and newer Clip) is the best sounding micro player on the market.
It has no competition when the price/performance (being SQ) ratio is king.
I have the Clip and it compares well with even the Sony X-1000 in sound quality, very impressive.

Do NOT buy this junk. It has NO firmware upgrade as of 12-20-2009.
The fine organization is OK, but it STOPs for NO reason. It seizes up.

Thanks for the review, nice intro as well haha. My iPod fell victim to Apple's ability to make something that fails a few weeks after warranty expiration so I'm planning to buy an 8GB version of this as a cheaper replacement, unless there is something better you can recommend for the price? The clip does NOT have a SD slot. For that capability you would have to look to the Sansa Clip+ --- We're supposed to get one in the lab for a review... but with the Christmas season coming up, who know when they'll get it to us.

Yes you can add as many micro sd cards as you want and you can also buy micro slot radio cards with 1000 songs already downloaded, They have oldies, rock, country, mixed media, 80's and 90's pop etc...

I found out by accident that connecting it to your car stereo USB slot recharges the clip battery. But I cant figure out why I have to press the skip song key twice to go to the next song and sometimes I only have to press it once.

Thanks for the video - got the 2gb clip from Future Shop (Canada) for 29 CAN! It works with Ubuntu Linux, but do read the ubuntu forum posts on setting it to the right usb mode (different from Windows), and use music player to load and delete files in Ubuntu (otherwise it keeps the deleted files in a hidden directory ON the player!)

i just bough today the sansa clip with 4 gb man its just awesome its has a lot of power,he can run music for 15 hours and you can clip it on clothes its perfect for poeple who does sports!

That's the thing that clip haters just don't get... sometimes you DON'T want a $300, 32GB monster with all the bells and whistles and just enough battery power to last a long bike ride. Sometimes you want small, inexpensive, and simple... That's when the clip is PERFECT.

I just bought the 2GB for 28$!
Got the Philips SHE8500 headphones for 14$!
I bought the Sansa Clip nine months ago but returned it to the store since i needed the money.
But yesterday a local store had a opening day sale, i was about the buy a Philips MP3 player that were on sale whent a guy cut in line and bought the last one, but luckily for me the manager felt sad for me and sold me the Sansa and the Philips headphones for only 42$(retail price 102$)!
Im so happy!

Yes this one looks better, The Sansa Clip plus has a weird look. Though it does have an expandable slot that really makes it a deal. The 8gb version is going for only $69.99. Not bad and you will be able to expand it to at least 32 gb. Thats 40gb, 10000 songs a this dinky little player.

hey i just got mines like 2 days ago and i cant put it down! the music quality rocks the glossy black is a fingerprint magnet but its just really nice the syncing is easy so far i have like 52 songs on mine i LOVE it = D thanks for the review u encouraged me to like mines a lot = )

It isn't as easy as it would be if it had a wheel but it does have a pretty fast browsing speed.
I also have to underscore the recording option to be the best on an mp3 recorder I have ever used. Yep its pretty great.

I had this particular gadget (1 GB) as to which I really enjoyed! Unfortunately I made the mistake of recharging the battery on my Mac rather than my PC and the screen froze. It never dawned on me that I couldn't use my Mac for this function, in fact it charged the battery just fine... but never the less, the LCD screen is frozen. Any suggestions for this problem? before you plus it in hit the settings menu....go to "usb mode" and switch it to "msc" itll work like a thumbdrive...the default mtp mode is some microsoft crap it probably tips out on a mac...

I like the way you compared it to the ipod shuffle, though, you forgot to mention another ipod disadvantage, which is itunes. iPod requires you to convert your music to itunes, when with Sansa, you just drag and drop your mp3 files as they are...
