  • question: why did Jennings leave big bird at an intersection in the middle of nowhere??

  • I remember going to the movie theater in '86 and watching it, and could;t stop crying about the bluebird… oh man lol

  • Waylon Jennings is AWESOME and made the awesome of this movie multiply greatly.

  • I just noticed the Imperial Japanese theme of Bert & Ernie's biplane.

  • I like this song too, even though I'm well past my Sesame Street watching years.

Just wanted to nitpick about something, not that it matters much - looks like Maria took her cue to start flailing her arms a few seconds to early, seems like she is waving her arms before the car really starts shaking from going off the road. Just wanted to point that out and found it a little funny.

  • And you can count the telephone poles!

  • I never realized how awesome the count's license plate was!

  • I wonder where the Count's car is today. I bet it's gathering dust in a warehouse in London somewhere. It would be so freaking awesome if one of the shows on the History Channel or Travel Channel at least brought it out of storage to showcase it today and try to give a value on it. If it still ran, and had all the parts from the movie, that sucker would be priceless to Sesame Street/Muppet fans.

  • Waylon learned all the backroads from the Dukes. No wonder he knew where Sesame Street was.

  • Coolest thing I've ever seen as a 4 year old watching this on the big screen. Waylon Jennings is my hero.

  • This was my favorite song on this movie!! Now my niece loves it!

  • Grew up with this movie and now my daughter loves it.

  • "But my friend Oscar says that I'm like a big turkey". I so wish insults from Oscar the Grouch would hold up in a court of law, lol.

  • 1:59 - Gordon Robinson: Country Superstar

Honestly, this is one of the most uplifting songs ever put in a children's film!

  • love this song.... love waylon :-)

  • How awesome is this!! I was looking up this movie because I LOVED it when it came out. Of course, I was just 4 years old, so I had no idea who Waylon was back then. This is pure awesomeness!

I agree with the person who said that motivational speakers should show this clip.

  • was looking up vids of waylon and i forgot all about this movie, aint seen it since i was like 6. gonna add it right to netflix

  • Every motivational speaker should show this clip!

  • @diefienbaker AMEN....great way to think when times get tough

  • this was my favorite song!!!! god i want to watch the whole movie again!

  • I loved this movie when I was little, loved this song.

I'm 20 years old, and I still have this on VHS. Will never get rid of it, it's a childhood classic.

  • Gordon can't sing like Waylon Jennings.

  • Brilliant movie about going home to the people you love and who love you. Peace.

  • 3 people actually dislike this?! They must be COMMUNISTS!!!

  • FOUR TELEPHONE POLES!!!!!!

  • thx for sending this to me this song is cathy rly

  • holy crap I used to love this when I was little i watched over and over when they used VHS. Anybody under 18 can google VHS if you don't know what I'm talkin bout

  • dat deaf bitch maria busta been bummed when she coudnt jam wif dem niggers up front

  • I had the soundtrack on tape when I was a kid - I wore out that tape, and I think I can probably recite the lyrics for all the songs in my sleep! Great to see this again! :)

  • A classic tale for all ages.

  • This...movie...was...AWESOME!!! LOL I watched this all the time almost 15 years ago!! My sister sent me this link and I burst out singing this song I haven't heard in over a decade!

  • And Cookie Monster could still eat cookies!

  • hey! it's Gordon!

  • count:AND you can count all of the telephone poles. 1 telephone pole 2 telephone pole 3 telephone pole

i would of been like "for cryin out loud. COUNT can you please watch the road?"

  • @blackchickiedee7 Too bad Count can't count telephone poles these days...I think they are all gone.

  • Oh, they're not gone. At least not in my area.

  • Love this song. The message in it is true.

If you just keep moving on with your life, things will turn out great. :)

  • this reeks of Awsomeness!!! lol

  • OMG! This came out when I was 2 years old, and watched it all the time! I haven't seen it in years, but it's still one of the best memories I have!

  • i Can do the drum Motions To the song of waylon jennings

  • I found this exact truck for sale! The ower said they stretched the cab to fit big bird inside. Anyone interested in buying it?

  • I'm 16, and I still love this film today, even though I have not seen it in years

  • Flawless logic Big bird.

    This movie.

  • My head just exploded into candy due to the nostalgia of this clip.

  • johnnyhustle, you're absolutely right...

    yun351, this is Waylon Jennings.

Johnny, Kris n Willie used to roll with Waylon.

    :-)

  • How come they don't make movies like this anymore? : (

  • Im 23 and im wondering...is that driver Kris kristofferson? reason i ask is cause he used to roll with Johnny cash's gang

  • man i'm 25 and i still LOVE this movie! i mean like this isn't your typical Sesame Street childrens show thats all about learning numbers and letters, this is an actual movie with a storyline and plot. people of all ages can enjoy this movie and always will! just because it's a Sesame Street movie doesn't mean its only for kids. if u want a movie thats just for kids go watch Elmo in Grouchland lol.

  • Is he the same guy that sings the theme to dukes of hazzard and narrates the show?

  • @johnnyhustle Yep....

  • The Big question is why did Maria and Telly get stuck with Oscar?

  • Comedy relief?

  • @lovelyred89 cause he's with the deaf woman, they're like Anne Bancroft and Little Helen.

  • I could be 83 and still enjoy this whole film

  • People who think certain things in life are impossible need to listen to this song. Whether you are taking a test or trying to find a job, or losing weight, or whatever! If you think its impossible, listen to this song. Don't ever give up!

  • I love This Movie :>

  • you know waylon wrote this song for his son when they ask him to do the movie.

  • I didn't know that

  • I LOVE THE COUNTS CAR!!!

  • love the movie and happy 40

  • I was watching this recently for nostalgia's sake, poor Big Bird doesn't realise where those turkeys are most probably being driven to.

  • Did VanDyke Parks write this song? To the best of my knowledge, he wrote all the other ones in the movie.

  • this has got to be the trippiest movie scene ever

  • Happy 40 years Big Bird

  • Super Grover!!! One of my favorite books as a kid was about him and :"the monster at the end of the book.". Got my 5 year old a copy at a yard sale a year or so ago.. Sweet Count car, too.

  • I've been looking for this track for years! Yee-Haw, finally!

  • Wow. I watched this movie at least 1000 times as a young kid and I still remember every detail. Haven't seen it in over 15 years

  • @Firefox227 I used to watch the film every day in the video store I worked in, classic.

  • @planetrockford here I am - smile!!!!!

  • @dcddjc You make it easy to.

  • Great inspirational song

  • ''Take me to cookies!!'' LMFAO!!!! What a great inspiring song:) Whenever I'm feeling really negative I'll just listen to this song:)

  • Man i aint heard that song or seen that clip in 15 years. Brings back alot of memorys.

  • At least Waylon knew how to get to Sesame Street if it takes three weeks.

Anyway, awesome song. I am nearly 30 years old and I love the movie as much as I did as a 5 year old

  • Finally, someone has answered the unanswered question!

  • @ace792k7 Yeah...note that Waylon knows exactly where Sesame Street is and how long it'll take to get there.

  • @ace792k7 Im 21 and I like this clip more than the movie Avatar. Shows how much CGI (Computer Generated Graphics) can cover things up. This clip should get an oscar.

  • Another good song is when kermit sang Rainbow Connection in the muppet movie.

  • i like this song and it gives me courage when there are times when i want to give up.

  • SUPER GROVER FTW!!!

  • the count has the best car

  • I love this song! I love this movie! What more is there to say about it?

  • You know, as a motivational song, it's decent, but as a Muppet song, it's pretty good. Good beat, helps the film, memorable lyrics (repetition sure does help), and just plain fun to listen to!

Thanks for the song! and may God rest Waylon's soul!

  • Not only is it a decent motivational song, it's a pretty good Muppet song. Good beat, memorable lyrics, helps the film a little bit, and fun to listen to.

Thanks for the song! And may God rest Waylon's soul.

  • I LOVE this movie. It came out when I was 11 and I got made fun of for loving it so much. I'm 33 now and still love it! Just bought the DVD for my 8 and 5 year old! Also gave me an appreciation for Waylon Jennings. My favorite part in this movie is the part at the end with Cookie Monster and the crooks sleeping and he nearly wakes them up trying to get the cookies.

  • "Oh no!"

    -Telly

  • dude id totally Roll in the counts car..Lmao

  • The Count was a straight up P-I-M-P, his girls better not short him, he will certainly notice LOL

  • lol

  • TRIVIA:Big Bird's costume was actually mostly made up of larger dyed turkey feathers!

knowing that - anyone else find the line funnier now??

  • One of my favorite songs from this movie. My brother and I would always sing this when we were little.

  • still retains the true spirit of trying; a great movie. :)

  • It's a tough call between this and "Good Ol Boys" for Waylon's finest work

  • This is the perfect kids movie. Its colorful, funny, easily to follow, and it teaches a great moral about racial acceptance.

  • I luv ths song XD even tho I'm 13 lol

  • who cares? I'm 19 and I love both this song and the movie.

  • I'm in my late 20's and still love it. Sesame Street in it's prime. Not like Sesame Street today.

  • me and my dad used to watch this movie all the time together when i was growing up...i love this movie...

  • Right On, Waylon & Big Bird! My daughter watched this over and over again when she was little. This past weekend I gave it to her on DVD and introduced my two and a half year old grand daughter to "Follow That Bird". She LOVED it! Jim Henson, you will live forever.

  • I love this song.

  • ms finch terrified me

  • My favorite part of the whole movie.

  • Jim Henson is one of my Heroes I love his work and I hope someday I can do what he did

  • I'm going to make sure my kids see this movie someday.

  • This Song and this Movie brings back memories of growing up in a House when all you would watch was Jim Henson's Work like Fraggle Rock The Muppet Show and Sesamse Street.

  • best movie ever, and best song ever. shows us life is so important.

  • This song Rocks I mean The movie yeah this movie rocks and that aint comin from no kid mind you Im just about 25 years young now and listen to what the lyrics say thats the coolest part lol

  • I still like this movie and I am 21. I remember watching this when I was 4.

  • I love the drums in this song!

  • this movie is pure classic, even more funny when people take it seriously.

  • I remember seeing this as a little kid&this particular scene/song stood out for me. At the time, I was not acquainted with the very powerful/special talent of Waylon Jennings, his deep voice & gifted musicianship/songwriting. This was a time in country music ('Highwaymen' era) that I liked the most. Now that I'm older, the song has not lost its edge, but rather grown in stature and fun. It has a good message, great beat, and Waylon's voice soars. It was a great moment with others singing along.

  • gold.

  • I have said it before and I will say it again. This movie never got the credit it deserved. A real good movie, better than alot of the crap today.

  • Anyone know what song this a play on? It sounds a lot like 'Ain't no God In Mexico', but I have a limited selection of Waylon Jennings CD's

  • Best damn movie out there, it was my favorite as a kid and my mother even found it recently on DVD and bought it for me and it is still just as great and this song kicks ass.

  • this is one of the two best shows that waylon jennings is in, the other is the famious tv show THE DUKES OF HAZZARD!!! god bless that man.

  • I'm not attacking the movie at all, in fact I like it, but where the fuck did Bert and Ernie get a plane?!?!?

  • They rented it. Because Ernie obviously has a pilot's licence. Like maybe he was in the airforce or something before he got together with Burt.

  • hahahaah

  • I know I shouldn't laugh at that, but I am.

Other things to ponder: What did Maria do to get stuck with Oscar?

  • @jrenae75 I was at a lecture that featured several of the Sesame Street actors and muppeteers. Maria and Caroll Spinney were there and they said that Oscar secretly liked Maria.

  • @mohinderbauer: Yeah. Oscar secretly likes everyone, but Maria especially. But then, everyone loves Maria, it seems, as one of the Street's original human characters.

  • Great video! It was one of my favorites when I was a kid. Thanks for putting this up here. This song I especially remember. It'd be pritty funny if people in real life started singing while they were driving. lol! little joke there.

  • rip Waylon Jennings, great song!

  • Waylong was driving to a Celtic game, he put Big Bird out when he found out he was a Rangers fan!

  • HAHAHA ROFLMFAO!!! My first country music expierience, god bless Waylon. i hope that one day I will be a good enough performer to be even thought of as a stage sweeper compared to Waylon Jennings. Thanks for posting jckhbz.

  • This is a pretty good song, actually. Glad to hear it again. Thanks!

  • he has to learn to drive safe lol

  • YeaH!!!! This was my first movie I ever saw in the theatre!!!

  • This was my 2nd. E.T. was my first.

  • I loved this movie. Everyone looking for him because they love him.
