Let's not forget the replay ability folks. Even though Wc3 had linear missions in the sense that you could not choose which mission to do, I remember I still blown through all the campaigns atleast 6times, and then comes the initial replay of fav missions and stuff.

they said 30 campaign missions PER RACE. So thats like 90 total for the entire SC2 game. Its a good idea they decided to make 3 different games, or else it would take forever

I agree, if you like playing the campaign in SC1, you will enjoy them doing it this way, plus the campaigns will be diff styles. Terrans is lets you do diff missions in diff orders, purchase diff units ect. Protoss, I believe, will be more of an rpg style campaign, and the zerg will be done in a diff style as well, making each experience unique in a good way. If you dont like campaigns or single player, no matter which you buy, you will have full multipayer experience.

Hell, they've even said that Defense of the Ancients, by far the most popular WarCraft III map ever made, would not meet the standards to become a premium map. THAT'S the kind of thing they're talking about; I doubt there will be more than 4-5 premium maps in the first few years.

have you played SC1 or any blizard rts. where there is multiple race campaigns are ALL IN THE SAME GAME. they are obviously doing this to make money. so maybe the campaign is longer, it still isnt the completing the story of the game. these arent expansions they are releasing they are campagins part of the original game.

ive heard that campaigns will be 30 missions long, as many as in starcraft 1 for all the races combined, so they will have made 90 missions in total for all the expansions, and i would buy an extra 30 missions for around 40$, and in each expansion new units will be added

its basicly 1 game in 3 parts. No one release (any race) is more important or better then the last. You can call them expansions I guess, but in the true sense of the word they arent, an expansion expands upon a full game, you cant expand upon one third of a game. Im happy they are doing it this way, I just hope they dont wait too long in-between to release the campaigns. Its going to be an amazing 100$+ dollars total spent imo. I just hope they arent $60+ each.

Blizzard has stated themselves, SC2:wings of liberty is not the full SC2 game, it is one part of 3. The zerg and toss ones are not expansions, they are just the 2nd and 3rd parts of starcraft 2. I think ill take the people who made the games word for it over yours though. no offence in anyway.

@reallysecretusername Lol you're an idiot. Why would you plan a game with two expansions? An "expansion is meant to "expand" the game. Splitting one game into three stories isn't expanding on it. It is just a cheap tactic to gain profit. If they already had the ideas in advance, then it is already part of the game. Expansions add on later ideas, and tweaks. You don't plan expansions, they come as part of the process of building the original.

The game was NEVER going to be fully complete with the first one. There was always planned to be 2 expansions. Instead of doing 3 races a game, the chose to do one race and truly flesh it out.

A bit after launch they're planning on taking the best maps/mods and charging a dollar or two for them. Money goes to mapmakers and Blizzard. It will be similar to the apple, app store. A huge majority will be free, but a few will cost a little.

Its good and bad. Good because you get some really innovative maps, and bad, because well, you have to pay for them.

You never have to buy them if you don't like them. You can play the game regularly and a huge amount of custom maps free.

That's the thing, everyone will want free maps and all the custom map makers will want money. Or make a second rate product.

Which will end up with everyone looking for scraps between the cesspool that is free content.

Basically, this means that you will be paying the following:

3 games for starcraft: 60 euro*3

Let's say you like 4 types of mods, each with several types and several versions.

4*2*3 = 24*2 euro on average, and you pay an extra 48 euro. Even if you're not intensively into mods.

Then add in the fact that you'll be playing several games on battlenet, where this monetizing will also feature. So Diablo 3, Warcraft 4,, starcraft 2.

Both of the last ones confirmed to be a trilogy.

So 60 euro's * 7 = 420 euro.

40-50 euros *3-7 = 120- 280 euro.

basically, you'll be paying around 700 euro to play 3 games in fragments so small, nobody will notice.

They deserve to go bankrupt, greedy whores as they are.

In fact, the only thing this will achieve is that more people will be making copies of bnetd and put out free servers to play all the maps people make for free. Meaning blizzard will get less dosh, the map creators will be seeing their products altered to fit private server needs and not making anything of it.
