  • very cool

  • Hey guys don't forget that tambourine.... they can play a mean tambourine

  • GREATEST EARGASM EVER. ♥

  • That's the nicest bass line ever.... WOOM-WOOM-WOOM!!!

  • Although Lennon was the Beatles, it didn't hurt having Paul playing bass and singing back up vocals.

  • Flippin' sweet, vocals and killer bass!

  • the pic at 1:52 is so cute but I never found the video where he does this

  • If anyone was intersted, at 2:33 the reversed vocals say:

"When the rain comes, they run and hide their heads"

  • @laner2281 in a song mag the last part says

"Is the earth now in memory? Forgive me...rain..." haha...

  • let him

  • i fap to john lennon

  • @LindaDynamite Mature.

  • @LindaDynamite and that will get you far in life. John would laugh and cackle at you.

  • RAAAIIIIIINNNNN.... I don't miiinnd! :)

  • Ringo claims his drumming here was the only time he ever played like this, EVER !! He did it and then put it away, in that "lockbox", forever.

  • Nnnnnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaasrr

  • where did you get the audio?

  • @velazquez11 That´s from the Anthology DVDs

  • @winstonoboogie74 :OO GENIAL :D

  • @winstonoboogie74 :O muy buen aporte:)

  • @winstonoboogie74 but i have the 3 anthology's and i don't have that version :S

  • It´s perfect if you think about the ringo´s work in drums in this song...the best perfomance he do ever!!!

  • Seeing some of these pics of the Beatles from the early days, I can see what they mean when they say that people started to refer to John as "the fat one."

I mean no offense -- I actually think that he looks better with the extra weight, and in my opinion, it just goes to show you how messed up western ideals are.

He lost a lot of weight shortly after this period, and remained very thin until he died. I think that he would have been better off and happier if he had retained his natural weight.

  • awesome!!! when I hear John, the sun shines in my soul!

  • where the hell did you get this killer track?

  • what youre hearing is one side of the stereo mix. you can enjoy many Beatles songs this way. just turn the balance all the way to one side or the other and listen. this is especially true of the original stereo albums.

  • ah, that's beautiful, sometimes its just so nice to hear only their voices (:

  • Listen to Paul's bass! Wow!

  • @tiranchula It''s breathtaking!

  • how do you make tghis excellent job???? it allows you to appreciate the quality of their voices. could you do it with Aday in the life please????

  • in the beging is john chewing gum? nice singing john beatles forever :)

  • @chileno1418 I think so lol.

  • Comment removed

  • How the hell does Oasis fall into this equation?

    never mind.

  • Oasis!? The difference is Lennon didn't even have to try...

  • man you can hear where Oasis got their singing from--great idea here

  • And when ever you will get time make a video of john lennon's vocals in 'Across the Universe" or "Tomorrow Never Knows"! lol I know I'm asking too much! Sorry! :P

  • good idea .... I´ll do that soon...

  • Looking forward to it!

  • Can you please please please send me the picture at 0:10 (John wearing yellow shades) or at least tell me the source of it! Thanks in advance!

  • what´s your e-mail ?

  • Check your PMs!

  • andy timmons can do a hell of a job when he was in revolver he did john

  • john lennon, is always the one voice no beatle band can find. sure, there are a lot of so called imitators, but we all know no-one has that voice and its unique qualities. you can get fooled with ardy from fab four, but you will never find a john lennon voice. it is one of a kind.

  • and listen to that bassline, too. I'd like to hear isolated drum for this song, it's one of Ringo's finest.

  • i heard somewhere that Ringo was trippin on acid while recording the drum track?

  • False.

They never recorded while they were tripping.

They did that only in their free time.

The Fabs were very serious about their music.

  • That's correct. They did pop amphetamines early on, and later they smoked grass and drank in the studio but that is different. Pot and alcohol doesn't actually alter one's state of conciousness. Once Lennon accidentally took acid thinking it was an upper and couldn't work. (For more read Geoff Emerick's book "here there and everywhere"- it's an excellent read)

  • That was a great anecdote. Excellent read indeed.

  • @winstonoboogie74 : you are right: The Beatles were very very serious in studio.

  • @winstonoboogie74 The only time they recorded while trippin' was the time they recorded a cover of House of the Rising Sun.

  • I swear he's chewing gum in time to the music at the beginning.

  • i think you're right- thanks for noting it

  • he loved gum- anybody know his favorite? i know he chewed it to stop smoking -gitannes i think

  • The Beatles always chew gum!, A high quality tribute band does the same thing when they perform, May I recommend the Cast of BeatleMania?

  • Probably, he chewed while performing on many occasions.

  • dig that bass baby!

  • Howd you get it all separated?? Unless this is only the recording from 1 half of the stereo track

  • its like hearing it for the first time again:)

John Lennon and his one in a billion voice, the harmonies, the feeling of the 60;s, the Beatles are unmatched man.

  • 1:14 John looks kind of like his "Beatles cartoon" self in this pic

  • oh yeah, true

  • And in another time-related note, 00:30 is perhaps the most beautiful thing I've ever heard a voice make.

  • Incredible that John hated his voice.

  • Indeed. He deserved that #4 spot on Rolling Stones top 100 singers of all time

  • 2:35 to 2:40 John sings backwards....sdrawkcab...

  • Best Bass Player Ever , who else since then can come up with a bass melody to carry a song further in depth, amazing band The Legend Will Live On Way After We Are All DEAD.

  • nice song and great pictures! :D

  • Notice the reverb on the lead vocal when the backing vocals begin. I wonder if that's leakage from studio monitors, or a deliberate choice, or both.

  • ♥ LENNON'S VOICE +

    ♥ McCARTNEY'S BASS

  • John's voice, Paul's bass....

One more little snippet to be added to my Beatle DNA gene. Thank you.

  • Yes, this is the isolated vocal track of John, from the 5.1 mix---this is how the acutal vocal sounded before overall mixing was done- Remember, the vocals on ANYTHING that you "hear" on anything ,are almost always the last thing to be recorded---

  • This is one of the 5.1 channels from the Anthology DVD.

  • is this just the right channel from the original, but in mono?

  • BEST BASS PLAYER EVER

  • The bass by Paul is awesome on this track

  • i like that john's hair is a little lighter then the rest of the guys.

  • Oh. i love bass line in this track.

    ♥♥♥♥♥♥

  • Still a lot of effect on John voice - but how much his insecurity was missplaced!

For years running he was voted greatest male vocalist amongst his peers in the 60's, and yet chose to "flange" his voice untill his death. (Drugs make you paranoid)!!!!

  • sometimes it's created by a LESlie speaker

they pass john's voice often in those kind to make a effect

    not sure

  • In my top 5 favorite song of all time, especially love the drumming & bass. Well...ALL of it, really! Thanks for posting this!

  • John is like his Idol...Bob Dylan...crap ass voices, yet we will listen to them both forever and love them both. oh and the backwards part is the chorus backwards.

  • I know what you're saying about his voice but John's musical "idols" were more like Gene Vincent, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison. He much admired Dylan but never idolized him.

  • O lord, just awesome!

  • At 1:50 there seems to be an extra harmony on 'Rain' singing the low B that doesnt appear on the other equivalent lines. Not sure who sings it

  • Sweet bass!

  • hes chewing gum

  • Paul has always been the most underrated bassist.

  • Not really -- he's well-regarded and highly-praised for decades. What is interesting is how amazing his work is, it just keeps unfolding generation after generation. His influence has been cited over and over.

  • Older musicians do tend to acknowledge his contributions to bass playing in rock music, but the majority of people today in my experience (including your avg rock musicians) only acknowledge him as a singer/songwriter. Those who do know he played bass, often don't understand how good his bass playing was & that he could sing & play bass so well at the same time. Maybe it is because he sings & plays so effortlessly, & because his melodies & lyrics are so loved that they eclipse his bass work.

  • Used to play in a band with an excellent old muso (jazz, blues, you name it) who always maintained that Macca was one of the best!

  • I LLLLLOOOOVVVVEEEE JOHN SO MUCH!

  • John rocks. He's so Frickin good I miss him so much.

  • Where did you find this, Winston?

  • this is reallllly goood!!!!

    i like both versions!
