You are right! However, I have been to an Islamic school in Florida for a whole year, and many of the students who attend that school still do HARAM stuff. Private Islamic School. On the other hand, not everyone can afford to go to an Islamic school. We all know that the government doesn't pay mosques but they pay for churches. I am a Muslima and I have been to an Islamic and Public school, and yet not done Haram because I was raised properly by my parents...Alhamdulilah!!!

The Public School's are bad, but then I guess it depends on the school. I mean, most schools are poor, but some public schools are a lot richer and as a fact have a higher graduation rate and high attendance rate. Correct me if I'm wrong, anybody.

Thank you brother Ali for, once again, saying it like it is. There are four full time Islamic schools in my area, and not one of them meets the standards for being able to fully educate the youth. It is a tragedy that often the politics of the elders in the community stops the education of the youth, and then they wonder why it is that the youth refuse to go to the Masjid.

I went to an Islamic school almost my whole life...I have never been to a public school, just charter for one year, but even then i saw the difference. I LOVE my old islamic school, and being in college really makes me miss my islamic school teachers and classes and the great environment! i only graduated last year, so its still a little fresh. i wish all muslims could go to an islamic school and not have to see and be in the middle of hte bad stuff going on in public schools....

lol so true. I live in London and have been attending an arabic school on Saturdays for the past 10 years. Me and my brothers used to absoloutely hate it-it would be all tears and 'I'm sick' Saturday mornings. Lessons were kinda boring but it has been getting better. But I'm glad my parents didn't stop sending us 'cos now at the age of 16, I can truly appreciate why they send me and be grateful for it.

avoiding public schools because of temptation everywhere ?? that's overprotecting your children, what about if you rise your children the proper way, teaching them about our loving god, that way they would never fall into temptation no matter how near/easy it is, anyways if they go only to Islamic school when they finish and go to work they are gonna have to face the temptations/discrimination that is everywhere (which everybody is supposed to know how to handle it)
dnt regret wts alreay done, trust me, i had the best of both worlds, alhamdulilah, went public school as a kid, then went private to islamic school 4high school,Allah hu akbar i learnt so much and it really help me develop as a person, but it wasnt perfect, as baba ali says, ISLAM is perfect but the followers (like myself) are not. most of my teachers were brilliant, they taught me loads! and am so grateful- but they were no different to any average person.

This problem is present in the uk. There a all girls Islamic school near where i live, the girls that go there are people you REALLY want to avoid, their extremely desperate for attention form the opposite sex, they smoke, cuss, wear skin tight clothes outside of their school, their actually proud of their haram acts. Most of them even have boyfriends. Fortunately we're improving Islamic schools around where i live, inshallah eventually well get there soon.
well the problem is not only in the USA here in Egypt yes we are tough islam in schools but we have exactly the same problems u mentioned, we all hated the class & would make up excuses so as not to attend it, & usaualy the same topics were discussed every year from the same angle which made them extremely boring

Well, as a Muslim public high school graduate, I wish I hadn't gone to a public high school. You're surrounded by people that don't have the same values as you and it's very very easy to get pulled into so many things that are unIslamic, like drugs, alcohol, etc. It's just an extra-precaution because parents want their children to be the best they can be. How good can you be surrounded by pot-heads, cheaters, and alcoholics? Muslim parents hope to limit this influence on their children.

hey aanon ymous16 its not that .thing is they dont teach anything abt islam in public school..which is atleast important for muslim kids .they have to start learning abt islam in their early age .thats why we think muslim schools are better .and they dont allow any bad utside activities in schools like smoking ,sex selling condoms and many many more..
you're so right baba ali nearly all schools have their own problems like bullies and peer pressure etc but Alhumdulillah over here in the UK we have some state schools (american - public schools) which have either a high population of muslim or racially diverse teachers and students so islamic and other religious rules are welcomed and embraced.
I just want to say, I am not sure about USA, but here teachers encourage children (at the age of about 4) to come to school. How? To start off, children mainly play with sand, play games, paint, etc. And boy does this method work!!
But if you look at masjids here, children are getting hit with sticks by their teachers if they utter a single word. How are we supposed to encourage children to go to masjid and learn about Islam?
I hope the misguided or unguided parents get the opportunity to see this video... my children love Islamic weekend school here in California. We have a very clean, organized and loving envirement . The fact that our facility needs repairs does not get in the way of providing the youth with the proper and needed guidance. I haste in admitting that the younger teachers have more favorability with the youth, it should not be this way.

Personally, I felt intimidated not knowing Islam as a child I felt behind in Islamic studies and so I thought I would be put down untill we moved to a nearby mosque I loved it Mash'Allah the school I go to every Sunday is very educating I love the open discussions we have I find Muslims to be hilarious and really welcoming I just wish that IIslamic schools could be a little more affordable for those who can't afford to go (nice point u put out there!!

Salam, does that mean you think that muslims shouldn't go to a public school? Because I do. I am sixteen years old and I go to a public school. It is sometimes challenging for a muslim sister or brother to go to a public school but you have to deal with it and think of Allah subhanawatallah every step you take.

lol so true. I live in London and have been attending an arabic school on Saturdays for the past 10 years. Me and my brothers used to absoloutely hate it-it would be all tears and 'I'm sick' Saturday mornings. Lessons were kinda boring but it has been getting better. But I'm glad my parents didn't stop sending us 'cos now at the age of 16, I can truly appreciate why they send me and be grateful for it.

avoiding public schools because of temptation everywhere ?? that's overprotecting your children, what about if you rise your children the proper way, teaching them about our loving god, that way they would never fall into temptation no matter how near/easy it is, anyways if they go only to Islamic school when they finish and go to work they are gonna have to face the temptations/discrimination that is everywhere (which everybody is supposed to know how to handle it)

dnt regret wts alreay done, trust me, i had the best of both worlds, alhamdulilah, went public school as a kid, then went private to islamic school 4high school,Allah hu akbar i learnt so much and it really help me develop as a person, but it wasnt perfect, as baba ali says, ISLAM is perfect but the followers (like myself) are not. most of my teachers were brilliant, they taught me loads! and am so grateful- but they were no different to any average person.

lol- 1 teacher of mine was incrdibly racist towards me, she humiliated me infront of the entire class, because of my skin, another teacher teacher discriminated me because of my clothes, she called me a tramp, again infront of my entire class, i went through a lot, but learnt so much, Allah was alwas by my side, & for thaht i love him

@khalidah223 everything u need to know about ISLAM, everything u need to know about life itself, is in the quran, from how to clean urself, to how to die, marriage divorce, everything! there are many lessons to be learnt, u may not have been to an islamic school, but living every day as it comes is a lesson in itself- i speak from my own experiance :)
being an alim or an alima doesnt garentee u go Jannat, being a constant sinner doesnt mean ur doomed for hell, Allah's mercy is incredibly vast :)

This problem is present in the uk. There a all girls Islamic school near where i live, the girls that go there are people you REALLY want to avoid, their extremely desperate for attention form the opposite sex, they smoke, cuss, wear skin tight clothes outside of their school, their actually proud of their haram acts. Most of them even have boyfriends. Fortunately we're improving Islamic schools around where i live, inshallah eventually well get there soon.

well the problem is not only in the USA here in Egypt yes we are tough islam in schools but we have exactly the same problems u mentioned, we all hated the class & would make up excuses so as not to attend it, & usaualy the same topics were discussed every year from the same angle which made them extremely boring

Well, as a Muslim public high school graduate, I wish I hadn't gone to a public high school. You're surrounded by people that don't have the same values as you and it's very very easy to get pulled into so many things that are unIslamic, like drugs, alcohol, etc. It's just an extra-precaution because parents want their children to be the best they can be. How good can you be surrounded by pot-heads, cheaters, and alcoholics? Muslim parents hope to limit this influence on their children.

you're so right baba ali nearly all schools have their own problems like bullies and peer pressure etc but Alhumdulillah over here in the UK we have some state schools (american - public schools) which have either a high population of muslim or racially diverse teachers and students so islamic and other religious rules are welcomed and embraced.

I live in UK but it is the same here.
I just want to say, I am not sure about USA, but here teachers encourage children (at the age of about 4) to come to school. How? To start off, children mainly play with sand, play games, paint, etc. And boy does this method work!!
But if you look at masjids here, children are getting hit with sticks by their teachers if they utter a single word. How are we supposed to encourage children to go to masjid and learn about Islam?

I hope the misguided or unguided parents get the opportunity to see this video... my children love Islamic weekend school here in California. We have a very clean, organized and loving envirement . The fact that our facility needs repairs does not get in the way of providing the youth with the proper and needed guidance. I haste in admitting that the younger teachers have more favorability with the youth, it should not be this way.

Personally, I felt intimidated not knowing Islam as a child I felt behind in Islamic studies and so I thought I would be put down untill we moved to a nearby mosque I loved it Mash'Allah the school I go to every Sunday is very educating I love the open discussions we have I find Muslims to be hilarious and really welcoming I just wish that IIslamic schools could be a little more affordable for those who can't afford to go (nice point u put out there!!
