  • One small correction: Eric Harris was indeed bullied at school and did mention that in his journal as a reason for the shootings. Yes, they bullied other people as well - that's actually quite common according to researchers like Brad Bushman.

  • With videos like this it's a good idea to follow the money.

Reason is part of the "Kochtopus", those people and groups funded by the billionaire Koch family.

The Kochtopus is one of the major funders of the teapartiers, because the teapartiers push the Koch agenda.

Reason is just playing their part: they warn against "politicizing the tragedy" because doing so would impact the teapartiers.

And, the Kochs don't want that.

  • @NoMoreBlatherDotCom

Has it occurred to you that Reason is really a watchdog type of group on certain government activities? Has it occurred to you that the reason they released this video was because of the irrationality that followed the tragedy? For example: people blamed it on political tensions and pundits when the killer wasn't into listening to pundits. Money doesn't matter. Messages do.

  • best video ever.

  • 5 people are lacking common sense.

  • Or he just likes reading political theory?

  • i like how the first reaction so many get here is to immediately politicize the tragedies, despite the video itself saying DONT DO THAT!

  • Ayn Rand studied Nietzsche in her youth in Russia. Atlas Shrugged is about the victory of nihilism over the United States. It ends without providing any solutions other than the theoretical abstractions of objectivism that there must be special people whose talents are crushed by a society that ignores them. John Galt indeed.

  • Yes we are more likely to be killed in a car accident but without mandating certain safety features we would be even more likely to be killed in an accident. Given few features may be bad, overall most of the features have saved lives. I'm not saying ban guns necessarily but definitely a mental evaluation and deep background check. It's too extreme to do away with all gun control laws which many libertarians would condone.

  • Has anyone really read Mein Kampf? I understand that it isn't worth the time it takes to wade through it, and people who say they've read it probably haven't.

  • @oilhammer04

Yes, of course. Much of it you won't understand, because it covers obscure political geography. Other parts cover organizational theory, which might seem rather dry to most readers. However, you can skip over that stuff and find plenty of interesting parts.

You'll even find some quotes that Marxist-Zionists have twisted to suit their anti-Christian agenda -- e.g., the famous "Big Lie," which in reality is not something that Adolf promoted, but rather lamented. Find PDFs online!

  • @LibertaerUeberAlles, thanks for the info.

  • I love that on the top it has that hoobastank song

  • The bottom line here is: Kids die everyday from eating draino or whatever product they find under the kitchen sink, But do you see those items getting banned, hell no!

What you do see is PARENTS being told how to keep poisions away from their kids. So what does that say...It says that SOME parents are just plain stupid and HAVE to be told to child protect your home. Any NORMAL/Not Stupid parent would already know that. Damn people are stupid.

  • This is so true. If ONE person says Ban this, It ends up getting banned. Really?? One person (or special intrest group) Can get things banned/and strip away our rights for there own intrest because of ONE person who was clearly a nut case! The Media Feeds like sharks on this and always turns ONE PERSONS action into junk like 'Ban the gun the killer used, ban all guns for that matter.' Remember when you played with marbles as a kid? There now banned because a kid chocked and died.

  • @SharkDude1 Marbles aren't banned... I just think you see less of them in stores because kids like Xbox360, not round balls in a circle.. THat's another thing, you always use to hear oh, it was violent video games that caused this!! I surprised we don't hear more about that in the ERA of the most realistic "First Person Shooter" Games.. Don't get me wrong though.. Im not blaming anything on video games.

  • This video will fall on almost deaf ears. The fascist libs are already working feverishly to strip freedoms.

  • They need to ban water as it is a major contributor enabling life.

  • This is one of the most sane thing I've heard on this topic so far.

  • There was also a little Ayn Rand sprinkled in with the murderer's favorite books. Obviously, he's a Libertarian Communist anti-fascist fascist.

  • @ghuegel don't forget atheist pot-smoker lol

  • @ghuegel And a member of the Lollipop guild.

  • I just cannot click the "Like" button enough times on this video. This should be aired on every news channel but it won't because they are too busy sensationalize the news.

  • its the " conservative" talk show hosts and those that put them on air... They are responsible for that 9yr old girl...

  • @rogueronin82

No proof of that whatsoever. But thanks for letting us know you are an idiot.

  • @rogueronin82 You are a fucking moron, go away, and darken the doorsteps of reason no more.

  • @rogueronin82, yes, their at fault. It has nothing to do with the mentally unstable guy that shot her.

  • "Legislate Carefully"

Right, be careful when you initiate violence.

  • all you have to know is when someone starts talking left vs right during a tragedy like this, you stop listening to that person.

  • All liberals who tried to use this tragedy for political purposes should be ashamed of themselves. But then again they probably have no shame to begin with.

  • There was another killing recently and the news reported that he had Mein Kamph, and The Communist Manifesto. I just wonder what was next to those books. I have both and they're stacked between my Harry Potter books, The Giver, and Alice in Wonderland.

They're famous books, and lots of people own them. They just try to report on those books because they're trying to make it seems like the two were linked together. Maybe if he was a neo-nazi then maybe.....Bet he owned a Playstation too.

  • @TheWhiteRabbit1990

Yeah, what's funny about the whole "white supremacist" allegation that's being made by Jewish extremist "advocacy" groups, is that the alleged assailant appears to be Jewish and even possibly went to the same synagog as the congresswoman.

But, as usual, the Marxist-Zionist mainstream media remains silent.

  • "Mein Kampf" and "Communist Manifesto" - perfect literature for total fuck-up...

Imagine effects of whole generations of Americans fed with excerpts from Marx's "Capital" and words of Mao, Che and Fidel... Will they welcome the idea of taking (by force) wealth from foreigners when country will run out of money?

  • @grraadd O.o! taking by force wealth from foreigners... thats your plan? ;-D

  • @fitobcnfito read with understanding please... I ask a question based on history (3rd Reich).

  • @grraadd O.o! You are from Poland: double ;-D!!!!

send us your militars to take that wealth ha ha ha

  • @fitobcnfito check at Google: "GROM" and "Formoza" and you'll stop laughing... For 100 years (Wilson's FED bankers' cartel) Americans are known to occupy countries, Poland - on other hand - is known for 1000 years to fight-off assailants (we aren't in robbery business).

  • @grraadd I have Google your special forces... so? I still ;-D!

Now Poland army should be my concern? O.o!

What about feeding your people, or giving them some heat so they don’t die from winter... as you see, Russia only needs to cut gas, and you all die.

Russia is a concern, not Poland going for your plan of "taking (by force) wealth from foreigners when country will run out of money" ;)

  • @grraadd Hear, Spain version of the GROM watch?v=SCTIxV5qjjo

Did you think Poland is the only one with a special force brigade? so we should al fear you O.o!

    ;_D!!!!!!

BTW, this are your next door neighbours, Russians: watch?v=l9zcewT7520

Only that as said, thay only need to cut the gas supply to fuck you up.

  • Nice message. But I have one disagreement.

Scott Roeder's killing Dr Tiller doesn't discount the entire pro-life movement, but O'Reilly's calling Dr Tiller a baby-killer repeatedly does discount O'Reilly. Someone like O'Reilly is looked upon as a leader for socially conservative Christianis. As long as the movement collectively doesn't criticize O'Reilly, the movment becomes discredited by default.

As Giffords said, there are consequences.

  • @MarmaladeINFP

Bill must be a pretty effective speaker for you to want to gag him. Thanks for the endorsement.

  • @btwall60 I don't personally want to gag him. I don't know if he is an effective speaker, but he has a fairly large audience who are easily influenced. As a Christian, I would hope he understands that we all must take moral responsibility for how our words impact others. If O'Reilly is unable or unwilling to take responsibility for himself, then others who share his view should hold him accountable. Every individual, ever group, every movement must be responsible for its own words and actions.

  • Demonstrable fact is that the hateful rethoric and smear propaganda comes overwhelmingly from the left.

ALL the lefty outlets IMMEDIATELY tried to stick it to the conservatives while the right-wingers defended themselves by simply stating that by all we know he was a mad guy and seems to have a rather left-wing lifestyle etc.

If you have any sense of proportion it is obvious which side is much more hateful and vile and tries to connect their opponents with every crime and tragedy.

  • Is Jared Lee Loughner linked to TeaParty, conservatives, or libertarians?

See the FAQ (remove the spaces):

    24ahead . com/n/10310

  • Now this is Reasonable! (except for one minor point, which I don't feel like getting into here).

  • If you want to know what's wrong with this country then you should understand that we refuse to accept or recognize failure. We cripple our ability to deal with problems because we don't want to deal with a complex and unpredictable world. People like Laughner (insane) are simply ignored by mechanical institutions. The collapse of the community and family scope of responsibility leaves use with few preventatives. America can't deal with its problems unless they conform to our naive expectations.

  • Awww. Reason is trying to cover for their libertarian ideology and the teaparty loons who are controlled in part by Reason's funders the Kochs.

In this case it's necessary to separate *ideology* from *tactics*. There's very little chance that *ideology* had any role in the tragedy; Loughner probably wasn't motivated enough by his fringe libertarian ideas about money to do what he did.

However, the *tactics* of the teaparty loons might have played a role:

    24ahead . com/s/tea-parties

  • @NoMoreBlatherDotCom No one here gives a shit about the tea party and the colossal flop it turned out to be. Non-aggression principle is one of the key components in the Libertarian Ideology, so you really have no idea what you are talking about, and it's full of bullshit partisan like rhetoric.

Research it and don't politicize it like a jack-ass, the man was mentally ill. You can find his posts on the internet blatantly showing he was mentally ill.

  • @Betty5150: I've left thousands of comments all over since 2002 or so, including hundreds at Reason. The absolute worst smear reply I've ever encountered was from one of Reason's cherished commenters. Tell someone else about the "non-aggression":

    24ahead . com/s/reason-magazine

  • @NoMoreBlatherDotCom And yet when I follow the link there is not only no ad homs on the page but none on the fiirst two pages linked to it. In fact you seem to have no evidence of libertarian or Reason organisation ad homs at all. Considering that you ad hom yourself you are probably lying.

  • @Betty5150: the libertarian "non-aggression principle" also includes trying to impose their ideology through a form of force. Libertarians are eager to impose their open borders policies on the public despite the vast majority of Americans opposing even loose borders. And, they're willing to do that through a form of force: by lying and smearing their opponents.

  • @NoMoreBlatherDotCom What are you talking about? Do you know what the non-aggression principle is? You don't have a right to restrict the liberty of others (immigration is free movement). However, an open immigration policy is viewed as aggression by you because? Do you have a right to close the border to other people? Which one of your inalienable rights are threatened? It can only be considered true aggression when your rights become infringed.

  • @NoMoreBlatherDotCom Well thats funny, for a second I thought you actually knew what the "non-aggression principle" was. Silly me.

To address your point, which really has nothing to do with the non-aggression principle, every action the government commits could be considered involuntary and thus aggressive. Thus why a lot of libertarians believe that no ones ideology should be forced onto another and that there should be no state.

And every ideology lies and smears their opponents.

  • @NoMoreBlatherDotCom And further more just to clarify how little you know about the libertarian community other then the Koch bro's funding Cato, is that immigration, and abortion, and several other topics are all in debate between the libertarian community. I like how you collectively bunch of all libertarians, disregarding how each has his unique opinion because they are individuals.

  • @Betty5150: I've been following the "libertarian community" for years and I've written dozens of posts about them. Very few of them support enforcement of our immigration laws, even if they're able to fool you into thinking they do.

    Here:

    24ahead . com/s/gary-johnson

    24ahead . com/s/bob-barr

    24ahead . com/s/cato-institute

(Use the first text search at my site for much more; some older posts aren't tagged yet.)

  • @NoMoreBlatherDotCom How is that "imposing their ideology through force"? Not using force against immigrants is not imposing anything. Of course your (unsupported) claims of libertarian smears and lies has nothing to do with force since a smear is not the use of force.

  • @newperve: it's not difficult to find the smears against me at Reason. I don't provide links for complicated legal reasons. See my coverage of them here:

    24ahead . com/s/reason-magazine

And, yes, smears and lies are a type of force. They're designed to silence people just as much as, say, Canada's speech laws and the like.

  • @NoMoreBlatherDotCom

This "might have played a role" stuff is worthless. It's total conjecture as a means of political posturing.

  • @NoMoreBlatherDotCom

lol. Yeah. After all, communism and libertarians go hand in hand. And it's not like liberals are not using disgusting Alinsky tactics like - you know - not letting a tragedy go to waste?

Nice try though. It must be hard to have to resort to this. You know your ideology can't stand on it's own so you must smear and attack.

  • @Eterna1Soldier: you aren't smart enough to figure out my ideology and why I'd post on Loughner.

  • @NoMoreBlatherDotCom

Actually, there's nothing "fringe" or uniquely libertarian about monetary reform. For example, consider the "legitimate" Progressive, William Jennings Bryan, and the Silverite movement.

Conversely, it was the "illegitimate" Progressive, FDR, who confiscated everyone's gold on behalf of his pro-Marxist cronies at the Federal Reserve, after which he deceived America into war against its best interests. To see how, google:

    "Franklin Roosevelt's 'Secret Map' speech"

  • rule 3 is BS --- the level of manipulation, half truths, distortions, misrepresentations is at an all time high. The marketing research tools available to today's propagandists, mostly on the right, allow for unprecedented exploitation of people's fears. In addition, this newest kid believed in NWO conspiracy theories which surely have some element of truth but as a whole are BS. When you add beliefs in a fringe movement on top of the FOX effect a lack of mental stability is merely the straw.

  • Rule 6: Nobody ever looks at the situation/life that created the murderers

  • This is the Reichstag fire all over again. Robert Brady reportedly plans to introduce legislation that would make it a federal crime to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening or inciting violence against a federal official or member of Congress. Just what we need: subjective crimethink laws.

The shooter was a loner schizo with a fetish for mind control conspiracy theories, good grammar and 2012 prophecy. Politicizing this tragedy for gain is as low as it gets.

  • @elsquibbs

Interestingly though, much of what we -think- we know about the famous Reichstag fire, has been revealed as nothing more than a wartime propaganda myth by the Communists. For example, Peter Wainwright wrote a nice article about it. You can find it online; just google:

"Fire In The Reichstag" - ihr

    Cheers!

  • Great video. I always hate when people exploit or pull tragedies (or factors relating to them) out of context. We must never let horrible incidents undermine rationality and common sense. If we do and horrible legislation gets passed as a result, we will have way more to worry about than a few wackos.

  • Never let a mass murder go to waste. Any laws that are passed because of or in the name of this event will only prove that our government thinks we are all just as crazy as this nutjob. Good thing he didnt run them over in a car because then we would all be riding the bus instead of driving.

  • Excellent video. Two thumbs up.

  • 1 commie traitorous bastard didn't like this video. Must be an Olbermann watcher.

  • @wingnut4427 comments about communism always makes me laugh. still afraid and it's been pretty much dead for a while now. pitiful

  • @fenix144 Communism is dead? Boy are you ever ignorant.

  • @canofsand go on. tell me where it is alive and strong, endangering capitalism?

  • @fenix144 Wow, are you living under a rock?

    theblaze(dot)com/stories/meet-your-friendly-neighborhood-communists/

    theblaze(dot)com/stories/communist-head-explains-how-to-use-the-dem-party-cheers-the-decline-of-anti-communism/

    newzeal.blogspot(dot)com/2010/06/communist-leader-sam-webb-on-working.html

There's much, much more. Do you even read the other YouTube comments? Do you follow politics at all? Unbelievable.

  • @canofsand are you dumb? In my book you're just one of those conspiracy like retard.

  • @fenix144 You're not very good at this whole facts, logic, and debate thing, are you?

  • @canofsand Kind of odd being told about logic from a guy thinking communism still poses a serious threat.

  • @fenix144 People like you who ignore the facts presented to them have no place telling others what is and is not logical.

  • @canofsand none of these so-called facts(links) worked anyway. flawed argument?

  • @fenix144 1) You fail at extracting links from YouTube. YT distorts comments by inserting special (often invisible) characters. Do the obvious (change "dot" to periods, etc.), then remove special characters (there's usually one of them at the end of one of the words). Sometimes you can Google the copy-pasted URLs and it will find the right place without you needing to search for invisible characters.

    2) All you've done so far is begging the question. Do you even know what the means?

  • @canofsand ok i'll let you on my point of view 1) the guy was a maniac 2) he wasn't a commie, he was only a maniac 3) why the fuck are you talking about commies in the first place?

  • Comment removed

  • @fenix144 1 and 2) I never said he was a Communist, but you are either ignorant or one of the liars pushing the agenda if you say Communism isn't around any more. 3a) Seriously? YOU were commenting about it. Can you not follow along a simple conversation even when you can scroll up and read what was posted previously? 3b) Because ignorance and lies about serious threats to freedom are not to be tolerated, and you were displaying one of those.

  • @canofsand I'm done with you. I don't promote any agenda of any genre, I couldn't care less about you stupid yanks political games. All I said was peoples thinking communism is a threat make me laugh, and you're quite a source of laugh. do you know what's the difference between you and me? I've not been engrained since birth with the idea everyone in the world is out for my blood. You americans are really afraid of everything nowadays. and thats pretty pitiful.

  • @fenix144 So let me sum up. You make a demonstrably false claim. I call you on it. You dismiss the facts I present, fail to follow basic directions that would give you those facts, and then I call you on *that*. So in response, you attack me and Americans in general in a childish fashion, repeat your baseless claims as if you've supported them with anything other than "begging the question" fallacy (which can hardly even by called an *attempt* at support), and storm off. Nice.

  • @fenix144 I'm American and I don't think like they do, but yeah, alot of the people from the middle of the country and south do. On the coasts there is much more education and rational thinking. That's just the truth. Something rots peoples brain when they spend to much time eating corn and fried foods.

  • @canofsand oh and I changed the (dot) to . all I get is a 404 error and google as nothing to say about your links.

stupid twat. you fail at providing working links.

  • @fenix144 Are you incapable of reading beyond the first couple of lines or what, you vulgar little troll? I told you exactly what happens to YouTube comments and how to work around it. I double-checked the links, and they work just fine. Did you not notice that the URL changes if you just paste it in to the browser and hit enter, inserting junk like "C2%AD"? If you want to prove how oh-so-logical you are here, stop wasting my time with this nonsense.

  • @fenix144 And you either fail at googling or you're a liar, because I've just confirmed that once you've changed "(dot)" to a period, all of those links pasted from YouTube into Google give the intended article at the top of the results.

  • @fenix144 What are you, twelve? You do realize everyone here can confirm for themselves that you're incontrovertibly wrong about the links, right?

  • @canofsand you want a screenshot? maybe firefox just hates you.

  • @fenix144 "maybe firefox just hates you."

Obviously I overestimated you. So... what are you, nine? Ten? How would a screenshot of your failure to follow simple instructions (which I did myself to verify they work and everyone else here can verify if they like) prove anything, let alone be persuasive in any way? You posted over 20 min ago "I'm done with you." If only. Stop digging yourself into a hole by continuing to post these inane comments of yours.

  • @canofsand nah you're quite entertaining.

  • @fenix144 You know what would actually be amusing? You trying to post the URL of your screenshot and then finding that copy-pasting the URL from the YouTube comments page (after reloaded) to the browser results in a 404 error (which if the URL is long enough would most likely be the case).

  • @fenix144 Of course... even if you did find that to be the case, all indications are that you'd lie about it afterward, anyway. You're clearly a troll, and not even a particularly amusing one to feed. I like my trolls to try at least a *little* bit harder to look like they're thinking people.

  • @canofsand oh shucks I'm an internet noob :( at least I'm not the one to believe communism is a threat. I already laugh a lot about peoples believing in lizard that want us dead, illuminatis, hippies claiming they got superpowers. but someone who believe communism is a threath is the cherry on the cake.

We got peoples who claim to be communists here too. we even got a communist party. but it's just a joke. so why bother anyway?

  • @fenix144 And we're back to begging the question again. You're a waste of time.

  • @canofsand explain to me what's begging the question? I just told you i don't believe in your whole communists are alive and well thing. how's that begging the question?

  • @fenix144 It's not Communism that scares me.. it's People Like You who don't recognize it when it's all around you. I find it amazing how many People don't even know the basic definition of these words. Let me ask you this. Did Racism die with the freeing of the slaves ?? No.. Did Nazism Die with the downfall of Hitler ?? no .. Did fascism die with Mussolini ? nope.. So what makes You believe Communism didn't survive with the tearing down of the Berlin wall ??

  • @wingnut4427 seriously man? you really think those punk ass neo nazi kids can pose a threat to the usa's national security? no wonder you're scared.

oh and racism isn't a political regime. it has no reason being in your list.

  • @fenix144 You are correct racism is not a political Regime But is still used today to political ends. But I'm sure that there were a lot of people within Cuba with your type of hubris who ignored Fidel Castro. He had less than men with him when He overthrew Cuba. But Don't worry about a few hundred crackpots like this who tweet that they wish Sarah Pailin was dead, or that someone would shoot her, or that she would get cancer & die a slow agonizing death. Yeah.. I shouldn't have said some of the

  • things that I have said & I regret it.. But those who live in glass houses huh ?

  • @wingnut4427 You sound like the shooter now. I was listening to an interview with some of his classmates and this was the kind of thing they were saying he said.

  • @wingnut4427 ROFLOMG! THAT IS THE MOST FUNNY HILARIOUS THING I HAVE EVER HEARD!

People are going to vote videos down, ALWAYS. So please, stop acting like it's such a surprise someone would hit the thumbs down button. It's not a big deal at all. For fuck sakes, stop with the retarded unoriginal joke.

  • @wingnut4427 "1 commie traitorous bastard didn't like this video. Must be an Olbermann watcher."

I like the way this video points out not to jump to conclusions and you do the exact opposite. Ironic much?

  • @MyLittleBomb I point out what I see from what I know. too bad you can't recognize the rhetoric when You hear it. But that's O K .. because when You have a boot on Your neck one day & the barrel of a gun on the back of your skull. You'll figure it out.

  • @wingnut4427 " I point out what I see from what I know. too bad you can't recognize the rhetoric when You hear it. But that's O K .. because when You have a boot on Your neck one day & the barrel of a gun on the back of your skull. You'll figure it out." What does this even mean? Seriously I don't know what you mean by saying your comment was rhetorical? And you're threatening me now? You're either blind and just typing randomly or you're out of your mind. Are all rights this crazy?

  • @MyLittleBomb My god !! You are so Dumb ! 0_0 I suppose when the mass culling begins You'll get on the train without question.

  • This is a good one.

  • Thanks ReasonTv for this smart videos you put up, lots of common sense and intelligence in them, don't see that a lot on YT.

  • Good video as always.

People on both sides are blaming the opposition. Left calling this bastard a right wing Sarah Palin loving gun nut, while the right is calling him a pot smoking anti god loser. Why is it so hard to accept the fact that this Loughner maniac is just that, a schizophrenic maniac?

Be prepared for more laws that encroaches on our freedoms. But that's okay as long as we can get into pissing contests about which side is wrong or right while nothing positive gets done.

  • @EhrgeizUnlimited

"People on both sides are blaming the opposition"

Bullshit. Complete and utter bullshit. It is not "both sides". It's one side - the left. It is the left that immedeatly tried to conect a communist loving flag bruning psycopath to the right and Palin. It is the left who - in the course of a single day - has try to institute new gun regulation laws. It is the left who is trying to use this as an excuse to bring back the fairness doterine.

    They're following the Alinsky book

  • @Eterna1Soldier

    May I point something out?

I live in Arizona. I heard about the incident when Rand Paul posted his condolences on Facebook.

What followed was a lot of sick rhetoric. From who? The RIGHT. What kind of rhetoric? That the shooter was most likely a drug runner from Mexico, and to send us Latinos all "back".

I'm somewhat ashamed, but relieved that the shooter a white lunatic, and the guy credited with saving Giffords' life is a Latin-American. It shut the RIGHT's mouth up quick.

  • @Robert697 For one, you're lying. Rand Paul didn't say "Send the Latinos back". 2) The reason why they assumed it was a drug runner from mexico is because drug runners from mexico do this kind of stuff ALL the FUCKING time. But you're right, we shouldn't have assumed that a loving "Drug Runner" was the cause of this when THEY ARE the cause of this 98% of the time in Arizona.

  • @elvisfan22

For one, you're blind. Read again what I said. Take your prejudiced glasses off this time. I never said Rand Paul said anything about sending Latinos back. I said the comments following was a lot of sick rhetoric.

Second, show me the stats proving that 98% of homicides in Arizona are from drug runners. You can't. Why? Because 80% of homicides are domestic violence. In fact, Arizona is #15 in violent crimes nationwide. CA, FL, TX, NY, IL and MI lead the pack. MI vs AZ? Hello Canada?

  • @Robert697

    BS. That is all.

  • @EhrgeizUnlimited The left were the ones who came out saying it was the fault of conservatives. We woke up in the morning to CNN MSNBC etc. calling for the heads of conservatives because he was a right wing republican. We looked up the killer to find that he was an atheist & had many beliefs of a conservative AND liberal. Point being, we are only saying the "atheist" stuff in the manner of "Hey look, this guy has liberal qualities too so shut the fuck up and stop accusing us of being at fault".

  • @EhrgeizUnlimited

And people on all fronts are trying to harness the tragedy towards promoting ideologies. It's pretty upsetting.

  • @EhrgeizUnlimited Politicians will always use events like this to further their specific agendas. Sad thing is that Americans will take their bait and allow more freedom to be taken from them.... all for the good of "the country".

  • As a libertarian organization, I think it's suspicious of Reason to omit that one of Jared Loughner's favorite books was We The Living.

  • @scythe747 How do any of us know that the guy even read those books..

  • @DonSolo52 Gots them on his favorite books in YT, lol.

  • @krum369 yeah no shit.. That doesn't mean he actually read them. The Guy was a psychopath, did he really spend a lot of time reading books... I really don't think he read any of those books.. I just think it's a random ass list meant to freak everybody out..

  • @DonSolo52 We don't. But if Reason were a Communist youtube channel and this video omitted The Communist Manifesto as one of Loughner's favorite books, wouldn't you think that was odd?

  • @scythe747 How so? In fact it suggests he was not a libertarian. How many libertarians do you know who have read "We the living" and not "Atlas Shrugged".

  • @newperve My friend Diana. Even if I didn't have a friend that fit that description, how could listing We The Living as an influential book make someone look like they weren't a libertarian? I've not read We The Living but I assume all of Rand's books are of the libertarian/capitalist skew.

  • @scythe747 Well your friend is pretty unique. We the Living had little about capitalism and a lot about individualism. If he was reallly a libertarian it's extremely surprising that he didn't read Atlas Shrugged if he knew of Rand.

  • @newperve Diana is a girl's name.

  • 1:40 the senator who did the beating had the same last name as me. Brooks.lol

  • Very reasonable on all points, but I do hope that if anything good can come from the AZ tragedy , it is a voluntarily cooling of political rhetoric. Heated rhetoric is not new, nor is it worse then ever, but that does not make it good or useful and we can hope to see a cooling of rhetoric after a tragedy like this and that would be for the best. Though the worst thing that could happen would be to try to make heated rhetoric illegal.

  • "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before." - Rahm Emanuel

"And he said, you know, never waste a good crisis" Hillary Clinton, a longtime admirer of community organizing guru Saul Alinsky.

Radical Progressives ARE the "mainstream media"

  • @yakyakyak69 Glenn Beck has got you well brainwashed.

  • @Gallowglasser

Taking advantage of an emergency to concentrate power is old as mankind.

Statists are Statists. How do you think we got into 2 undeclared wars and why do you think we are now a bankrupt nation. Some emergencies are real. Some are created. Some are false-flags. (look it up)

But the concentration of power (usually in the name of "safety & security") is universal.

    Man's greatest flaw... FEAR

  • @yakyakyak69 Agreed, smart posts.

  • Yet another reasonable response from 'Reason.tv'

    Thanks!

  • Rule #1: SHUT THE HELL UP! Let the families bury their dead and grieve in peace!!

Rule #2: Anyone who uses a mass murder to attack political enemies is a SCUMBAG of the worst kind!

I think that should cover it.

  • The patriot act has taxes in it we have to pay for background checks for hazmat endorsement for twic card for passport to go to canada almost all tanker truckers have these taxes bestowed on them I have had to pay over $400 in additional taxes just to be able to do my job in the last 5 years why do multiple background checks on innocent. The taxes don't make you any safer they want a truck they can still rent one. O wait that is how they attacked the wtc and OKC federal building ? RENTAL TRUCKS!

  • "Security Theater" I like that term!

  • You want to hear "sick"?

"Meanwhile, the leader of Westboro Baptist Church, an anti-gay Kansas-based church best known for picketing the funerals of slain U.S. soldiers and gay-pride gatherings, said its members will picket the funerals of the 9-year-old girl and five others killed in Saturday's attack."

Makes me question if there is a god after all.

  • @Robert697 they are going to protest the funeral of the 9 year old ? What the hell did that little girl do to anyone ?

  • @Robert697 There is no god...but there are clearly plenty of scumbags in the world.

  • Awesome video. One of the best I've seen so far.
