  • in '81or '82 she came out with an album. my next door neighbor was playing it one sunny morning. i sat on her door step and listened. my neighbor had to go do some errands. she told me when u get done listening just turn off the tape player and lock the door. she came home about 4hrs later and i was still listening!!! she just shook her head.

  • Thanks so much for posting this gem...much appreciated..."Flying Cowboys" is one of Rickie's best...truly a masterpiece.

  • Flying Cowboys is a true masterpiece. Ghetto of My Mind could not be more creative if she tried. unreal. amazing!!

  • THE LORD BLESSES US ALL. AMEN.

  • Pity she won't get back to her roots but I guess one can say that about many other artists too. These tunes come from her prime and I'll scratch my head "why" every time I hear her new stuff.

  • Where is part 2??

  • @BerryRight Ask the record company. They blocked it.

  • I'll Walk With You. God Bless You And Your Family.

  • Did Ricky Lee Jones have a drug problem?

  • @yokohlman i agree, she is teetering on stevie nicks territory here. little bit o' klonpin?

  • This wasn't my favourite one of her albums but yeah she really, really is such an extremley extraordinary & rare singer, writer, musician & componist.... some of her songs will stay a lifelong with me... so thanks a thousand times for posting this !!!!

  • she is genuis..

  • People tell me she's a bit ugly.. I don't see it.. Maybe I'm in love, with her, just like Tom. I'd say she could take me home the silly girl..

  • I am 69 and haven't seen RLJ live. Life is a bitch

  • Me neither at 45.. Still, I haven't seen most of my heroes and I think disappointment has been avoided by that fact.. Fair call that RLJ would be fanfuckintastic though..

  • Seraph

  • Ecellent! what is the song at the end about the sun? that sounds lovely.(new found fan)x

  • It's "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying", a cover of an old 60's song by Gerry and the Pacemakers - not to be confused by an even older song of the same name by Ray Charles.

What happened to part 2 of the interview?

  • Record company. Never mind that this is not available for sale anywhere, that have to make assert their copyright.

  • hi,u saved me some time,thx.. could u tell me more about the vocals by RLJ, wereon an Orbital song about "little fluffy clouds" i loved it back in the late 80s/early 90s,and was she part of it or not?? i know its definatley her.....pls id love to know xx

  • it was The Orb not Orbital

the sample was used without her permission, they settled out of court as i recall, got it on a complilation CD somewhere - havent heard it in ages

  • thank you, its seems then i wont be able to get the the song though, shame. ..

  • hi just had a listen of that song (by gerry marsden). v nice, Rikies would of been a great version to release eh?!!

  • iremon, if you find the second part of the interview, would you PLEASE email me and let me know where to find it. I'm like you, I have part 1 and 3 but can't find the part 2. I've been a Rickie Lee fan since her Chuck E days, and I'm dying to get the complete set of such a great interview special.

  • @xOnEsUgArx It's the only cover song on the album...'Don't let the sun catch you crying'. :O)

  • The difference between her lack of confidence talking and her singing power is fascinating. I love it.

  • I love this woman-this caring spirit..She brings the beauty out in everything..May free souls like her be with mankind allways..

  • Oh, boy, I watched this over and over when it was aired on that channel you mention, and never thought I'd see it again! Thank you for posting this!!

  • Thanks for this! Fantastic! I first saw her on the Flying Cowboys tour and it's still my favorite RLJ record. I'm also a documentary freak, so this is teh best!

  • Cool, glad I made it available.

  • one of the most gifted artists in music...

  • thanks very much for uploading this - I'd never realised it existed. Rickie Lee Jones is so underrated, she's really one of the best songwriters of the modern rock era

  • How wonderful to recognize this rare talent!

  • God bless beautiful people like you (postingoldtapes) who put these long lost gems on Youtube which enables many souls to bask in the bliss of Rickie's music; plus the added bonus of her talking about the background to these creations of such wondrous music and lyrics.

  • YES-Bless you Postinggoldtapes for sharing the gold that is R.L.J..
