  • THIS IS BELA FLECK AND THE FLECK TONES WITH CARTER BEAUFORD PLAYING DRUMS ON THE TRACK......... MINDBLOWN!!!!!!1

  • 240p..... We meet again..

    =.=

  • bella flek is a beast. Check out his videos in africa playing banjo over tribal drumming. fucking sweet.

  • Does anyone know what song this is? Sounds amazing.

  • @Recanon victor wooten zenergy :)

  • bela fleck are amazing

  • definitivamente maravilhoso. uma das melhores linhas de baixo que já ouvi.

  • is that jeff coffin on sax?

  • @drum6banger yeah man

  • @drum6banger yeah man, coffin, wooten, and carter. this is gold

  • @drum6banger of course bro!

  • This was different

  • Gotta love banjo jazz.

  • jeff coffin is beautiful

  • If you had Victor and Carter as your rhythm section, the rest of the band wouldn't be needed

  • definition of the drums is pretty low and they are buried, but cant get a much better combo of talent

  • what's the name of this song?

  • is there a specific name for what they are playing or are they just jamming?

  • Wow. loved the quality.

  • wtf who disliked this?

  • This video is awesome in so many levels!

  • Is Carter playing on Gretsch renown maple?!

  • and Bela Fleck?! That's fantastic! :D

  • @RedMel333 : I know right!? All star lineup here

  • so so so so so so carter BEAUtiful! hahaha

  • super

  • That's kinda weird that Vic is playing in the control booth. Is he playing off the master mix?

  • he playing with a direct hook up to the sound board. it gets a more pure sound over a microphone and an amp.

  • Zenergy... count it, its in 5.

  • not my type of music but those two are beasts.

  • you know whats funny, when leroi died i started thinking "theres 6 billion people on this planet, but not one is like roi" and when i saw jeff its almost like i knew that was who they were going to choose, he had and still has big shoes to fill, and so far, i think hes done quite a good job.

  • FUCK JEFF COFFIN???? if theres anyone in the world to take lerois spot its him...him and carter kill it together all the time!

  • @Trump84 Saw him live with Bela Fleck for free at the original LL Bean's. AMAZING!

  • carter and victor. what more can u ask for? thats amazing

  • @trickiekick bela fleck...lol...i was actually hoping for just victor and carter, two of my favorite musicians!

  • @trickiekick i was about to say Bela, then I saw Jeff, then I started to actually listen... haha.

  • Whats the time signature for this?

  • 5 meter..........i think........eh.

  • its 6 meter....i got the DVD...

  • @zynergy619 its 5...

  • I never quite got the banjo thing...

  • hes a soulful perfectionist

  • Carter wears the weirdest clothes (stretch pants). But I guess when you're the greatest ever it doesn't matter what your style is.

  • Alot of drummers do that, its so the bass beater does not get caught under your pants. Also it allows for better leg movement or freedom compared to jeans or regular pants.

  • Hey man, it's not that big of a thought process. He probably likes them, or would wear shorts.

  • Chase0106, I know its not a big process and shorts work as well, but a lot of drummers have on similar outfits. Neil Peart, Terry Bozzio, Tony Royster to name a few. Its more then possible that he likes that type of clothing, but many drummers buy clothing with drumming in mind. Jojo Mayer and Tony Royster like 'chucks'(A brand of shoes) and so on. Sometimes its for the gig and sometimes its for the feel.

  • So you are saying the same thing, cool! Right definitely not saying they don't think about it for the kick so... we agree, thank you.

  • na this i bela fleck with Carter as guest

  • is that the new sax player dmb got?

  • yes. jeff coffin. he is also with the flecktones for many years. hes awesome!

  • Talk about a supergroup...my lord! The Flecktones + Carter Beauford! I think these guys could have beateb the 1992 Dream Team! :)

  • Progressive Fusion Rock?

    Nope, just playing Jazz/Funk in 5/8. =)

  • Gotta love the offbeat 8 time sig 8-)!

  • Flecktones with acoustic drums!?

  • this song sound nice

  • So much sax! Ugh, I was hoping this would just be the two of them going to town by themselves...

  • It's hard to beat jazz and/or classically trained musicians who cross over to pop. Their talent and creativity become more accessable and it just sounds great.

  • nice...my girlfriend ordered that dvd for me some days ago...its definitly worth buying....they filmed the recording of two songs and explained thier thoughts on them...

  • Jeff Coffin...amazing

  • thanks vega182..to bloodymental i apologize shouldnt have said.. i should of been the bigger person. so sorry and have a happy life

  • Whats the name of this song?

  • thanks bloodymental ima go look that up rite now. you Stupid retarded Faget!

  • E-rage much? Suck my nuts.

  • it is called zenergy

  • love this theme...totally should use first 30 seconds of this track for a morning talk show/tv theme...

  • ha

I was thinking the same exact thing!

  • the flecktones are some of the most talented musicians and with carter, wow i could cry

  • Terrific musicians, both, but I always felt that Carter played TO this song instead of WITH. As good as Carter is, he doesn't do himself justice in Zenergy... only slightly better than Futureman would have done, which is a shame, because he is 10 times the musician. He's still the man.

  • victor is dope

  • so what if he doesn't like the sax in the song? Should that stop YOU from enjoying it?

he has an opinion, and so do you,

just don't let his affect yours.

You serious "youtubers" get so crazy with your typing wars and being hardcore with the keyboard...

    grow up

  • Carter IS GOD!!!!

  • flecktones baby!

  • the saxe is really annoying

  • are u deaf?

suppose all that death metal has damaged your ears...

  • Sabiano, suck a fat dick!!!! I don't even listen to death metal-all I said was I don't like the saxe, is that such a bad thing? Think before you speak and make a judgment about somebody else.

  • Whether or not u listen to death metal is irrelevant. The true relevance lies within the fact that you, sir are brain damaged which is the embodiment of the idiocy and severe retardation that is your perception of music.

  • Irrelevant? YOU are the one that even made any mention of death metal in your stupid ignorant comment. And brain damaged? Anytime you want to challenge me to battle of the wits bring it on. I am NOT sorry that I hurt your senstitive little feelings with my comment about the fucking saxaphone. SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!

  • awight I'm challanging you right now, vagina face!...

INSULT ME! Gimmie your best fuckin shot!

  • awight you wascally wabbit........lol

(see Sabiano's comment below)...laugh out loud

    Well, um okay....

....you're a lonely, lonely, desperate boy, or-MAN I'm sorry. You have not been laid in months....maybe even years. And, you got really offended by comment "the saxe is really annoying." So please step off and talk to the hand nigga

  • well dude, hes right in the fact that you don't have any perception of music what so ever .....if you did you would be able to spell sax the way its meant to be spelled....

  • whats wrong with metal? led zeppelin was metal but i "suppose" you consider it classic rock. im going to a metallica concert in january, and im following that up with a weekend of DMB. why does one have to listen to solely one type of music rather than take in all types without having fingers pointed at them?

  • you are awesome, I'm so glad someone out there makes some sense. I'm a music major, so I play classical during the day and then listen to all sorts of stuff later. I'll listen to Nightwish, then DMB, then iron and wine. it's all good. and this is no exception!!

  • they are mosters!!!!! theyre not humans playing their instruments, theyre great i want to get that dvd!!!

  • nastyness

  • stanley clark invented wootens chops!!!!

  • What are some bands that play similar music to this, I have been looking but haven't had much luck. What would this genre would this be under?

  • i think some mix of flocklore and jazz, try bela fleck and the flecktones

  • Have you tried Bela Fleck? That's actually who is playing Banjo. His band is basically who is playing minus their normal drummer who actually plays on a homemade drum-keyboard type thing.

  • drumatar

  • Try 'Return to Forever'. They're an amazing fusion band.

  • anybody know whose playin' the sax here?

  • Jeff Coffin

  • Jeff Coffin

  • The inclusion of the banjo is nice! really cool song too, it sounds kinda like a chat show theme, but in 5/8! XD

  • whats the name of that song? is from bela fleck and the flecktones?

  • I don't know it offhand but it's from Secrets, a band Carter was in before DMB. i have the CD laying around somewhere. Pretty sure it's off the album by the same name (Secrets).

  • the name is zenergy

  • drums are buried in the mix.

  • Hes playing a Grestch here. he normally plays Yamaha.

  • sure is can tell by the hoops coz i have one

  • mmmmmm very good :) where would this world be without people like you to point out the complete obvious??? :-D

  • This is like a Wedding cake of musicians!!!! Mmmmm.....I like! XD

  • i like carter better with dave, so much better

    he opens up more

  • Tear it up boys.... tear it up! it ain't dave mathews... but it works, because it's carter.

  • It's 5/8 en 6/8 that's easy to find out.. and this song is great

  • lol He counts it out right at 0:25 lol Nice.

  • I think it´s basically 5/4, but note that the Banjo´s solo is in 6/4...

  • I think it´s basically 5/4...but note that the Banjo´s Solo is in 6/4

  • i know - he can get a LOT worse!

  • in what genre? i'm not sure there is any good music in the cheesey, math fusion, supermarket, morning tv theme music genre! if we're talking fusion how about black market by weather report or birds of fire by mahavishnu? i personally don't think carter is a good musician - a phenomenal technician sure, but he overplays ALL the time. Dave matthews' songs breathe when he has brady blade on drums.

and i'm of the opinion that the best bass players are either electronic or not actually bass players

  • Hey, I was just thinking the same thing, how in this video Carter is overplaying. Mind you, it is pretty much a jam session. The drums were too quiet, but hey. Carter rocks. :)

  • yeeah CDADDYD, tell us music which is not bad in your eyes?post a video für an example!

  • making 'bad' music.

yawn... let's see how technical we can make this music, whilst abandoning all sense of visceral and real emotion... ug...

  • if you think that's as technical as victor can make it you obviously don't know anything about him.

  • The theme to seventh heaven? :P

  • I knew it!

I heard the banjo on the back.

It's Bella Fleck man and his crazy sax player.

    Gotta luv them.

  • ds y i luv black people!!

  • it flows good 5/8 bcause of carter and wooten.haha.obvious right?i agree wid maugister, its difficult to find a good 5/8 song these days

  • its 6/8 innit?

  • 5/8

  • I'm sure it switches between 2 time signatures doesent it? one of them is either 5/8 or 6/8 isnt it? =]

  • when i listened to it again, it does sound as if it changes from 5/8, but i'll figure it later and let you know..cool?

  • shit sound qaulity

  • that was the cheesiest fucken song i've ever heard. like from a bad sitcom in the early 90's.

  • Haha, so true, but it's still good I think.

  • The Song is called Zenergy for those who wanted to know, and it's off of Ying Yang

  • I have to say that victor wooten is one of the best bass-guitar players ever!

  • agreed.

  • Really nice, fluid and groovy. Like you said, it is quite rare to hear fluid 5/8. This flows along really well.

  • yea for sure

  • Bela's banjo playing is superb. I sometimes think Carter plays a little too over the top, but that was indeed really nicely done. And yeah, I would say progressive folk/jazz/fusion.

  • Yea, seems like he has a hard time just kicking back and groving. He always plays broken up/syncopated hat/ride stuff. It's awesome in the right context..but it CAN be a bit much sometimes for sure.

  • If anything, it's electric folks jazz...there's nothing "prog rock" about it. Pretty song, really pretty...you don't hear a lot of songs in 5/8 at THAT tempo, especialy ones that sound so fluid. Thanks for posting!
