I have a question. I removed mozilla firefox from add/remove programs and i want to reinstall this. But everytime i try it says i need to restart my computer to finish removing the program, & thats where i am stuck. Why wont it let me reinstall it?
well, what if u press remove in add/remove and the it does nothing at all. when i press remove all it does is make the window blink and fire-fox doesn't even go to the persuader of un-installation. should i still try this or not. plz respond any1.
my browser locked up. couldnt even use YouTube search box! couldnt check mail, etc. went back to Explorer. now want to get rid of any residue of Firefox.
Thank you very much this really helped. I followed all the instruction, but this all also applies for Windows XP as well as Windows Vista? Because I have Windows Vista.
It worked! I then just moved the old* mozilla shortcut that was on my desktop that would not delete in add remove to the recycle bin with the other two files and deleted them. In add remove the file changed to the new version.
I couldn't uninstall it from add remove either - corrupted from trying to upload a new version.
- deleted the file in %appdata%
- I had three files under %programfiles% : Mozilla folder gave a warning was in use so I did not* delete it, Mozilla 3.1 b1 gave a warning programs might not work properly so I did not* delete it, the last Mozilla 3.5 b4 gave no warning so I deleted it.
- Then downloaded without restarting, from Internet Explorer, the most current non experimental Mozilla.
I was just wondering if you have to go through this step as well:
Remove all registry entries of Firefox with the help of Regedit application. Launch Regedit(Start-->Run-->Regedit) and search for all the entries containing the text Firefox or Mozilla and delete them.
when im trying to uninstall firefox bcuz i started use a nother browser i cant do it. I've tried several uninstall applications and went into Mozilla Firefox > uninstall folder and clicked that program but nothing happends. then icon just reloading... someone please help
Did you know, you can delete the firefox profile without uninstalling it. Just delete and start firefox up again. It'll just recreate a new default profile. There is absolutely no need to uninstall and then reinstall firefox.
Try it. Renaming the mozilla folder in the applicaton data folder will allow you to start with a fresh profile. Effectively producing the same effect as deleting it.
It's fairly obvious: It's far faster, far more secure, as far less bugs and security holes and has more inbuilt features which FIrefox cannot mimic well via extensions. Also it uses less system recourses and it's more customizable.
I once was an Opera fan, but have been using FF for over two years. I use the following crap blasters: 1. Addblock plus, 2. Addblock filter set, 3. remove it permanently and 4. noscript. So what? You may ask? Well I have NO ads, I repeat: NO ads. I was shocked when I used Opera again and all these stupid flashing ads, and nasty crap that I can just right-click off permanently using firefox. Can IE or Opera do that? No... enough said.
Opera has content blocker. It's not automatic, but as Opera is trying to appeal as a professional browser, making it automatic would be a bad idea. You simply right click on a webpage, go down to content block and then select the areas you want to hide on any particular webiste, and they'll no longer display.
So it can display a completely clean page? I find this hard to believe. That's the thing about Opera, it does have some good functions, and it does operate like a nice all-in-one suit - very smooth. But it still isn't as flexible as foxy, and for me flexibility is the one of the highest priorities.
But, as for ad-blocking in general, I don't know what your gripe is. You do realize that ads pay to keep whatever site you're on, up, don't you? So by blocking the ads, you're only costing the website money and not helping them replinish the lost revenues.
I've heard this argument many times, and never been convinced. So when you watch television, do you think its wrong to walk away from the TV, or to flip over channel? No one, I repeat no ones has the right to put flashing crap on my screen; potentially creating headaches, slowing down my computer or worse! They will learn, and find a less intrusive way of advertising their crap.
@Firefoxer4Vista hey i was wondering.. if u wanted to reinstall it .. do u ahve to uninstall completely?
