@Gamerpaddy 50mm f/1.8 is actually sharper than the 1.2 and 1.4 at 2.8 apertures and higher... Even though it doesn't have as smooth bokeh. But for $100 bucks, why not? It's a great lens, every DSLR user should have one.
is that the built in mic?... cant here when you focus! I just buyed the 5d mark ii, and have been playing with the 50mm 1.8 and the 70-200 2.8 IS II, but the internal mic picks the focusing noise pretty bad.
I guess you got a røde mic? or.. some mic preamp?
@stanlymanly2 Neutral Density filters DO CREATE a narrow depth of field. Try by yourself stanlymanly2 and let me know the results...By the way, i ended up working for 2 months with the 5DM2 along a prime from Carl Zeiss (50mm f/1.4) and the end result looked UNBELIEVABLE ! You really do get that narrow DoF.
@stanlymanly2 No it's not. It is a fixed focal length photo lens. Film lens usually will require a PL mount on front of your DSLR camera. They also cost a fortune (anywhere between 10 to 100K !) and most people rent them according to their project.
@soufianDEMOS ND filters do not alter depth of field, it reduces the amount of light entering the camera thus requiring longer shutter speeds, ND filters are mostly used for such applications as getting the dreamy look on water flowing.
@tikurgisila The IS will always be trying to compensate for movement & panning, thereby draining the battery & causing unwanted wild sound if using the built in mic.
You could put a potato for a lens and it would still look good the canon 5d mark 2 is purely incredible!

i know its good, but only for 500D or cheaper..
A 1700$ CAMERA NEED THE 1.4 or 1.2 50mm objective!

@Beni79 yes, it is the built in mic in this video, it is a lucky audio recording...to capture good sound you need external mic...

why did you bought a very expensive body and a very cheap lens? (your lens should be the expensive part of your DSLR)

did you have to use an ND filter to get that kind of depth of field ?
soufianDEMOS 1 year ago
@soufianDEMOS
No ND filter, only the 50mm at f1.8
ranerobot 1 year ago
@ranerobot with such an open aperture (f1.8) this shallow depth of field is pretty much unavoidable, which is an awesome, awesome thing :)

@soufianDEMOS f1.8 provides insane DOF.

@soufianDEMOS filters dont create a shallow depth of field.

@soufianDEMOS They just let you shoot wide open, so yes, it's just the aperture that gives the DoF.

Wieso gibts eigentlich keine lichtstarken 50mm linsen mit IS / OS ....
Aber wer sich ne 5D Leisten kann, der kann sich auch nen Steadycam / flycam / glidecam leisten ! ... und dann bite nochmal ein Video DAMIT! :D

that shake is due to the lens not having a image stabiliser

@fox1701 IS needs to be disabled when taking video anyway.

@HarlequinJitsu Why disable the IS for video? I read that somewhere as well but don't know the reason
