Nothing overrated about Marty. Just being able to play 70-74 games a season spoke volumes about his endurance and stability.

@MillerIsJesus Actually, the trap system made it tougher for a goalie to stay 'in' the game. A netminder is going to be sharper facing 25-30 shots a game, than he would be if he's only facing 15-20. Nothing overrated about Marty. Just being able to play 70-74 games a season spoke volumes about his endurance and stability.
I'm an Isles fan, by the way, so I think I'm pretty unbiased.

@dfbhcf 16 years of facing 20 easy shots a game behind Jaques Lemaire's famous trap defense. Christ, even Rick Dipietro could put those numbers up if he played behind the Devils defense from 1995-2009. I understand he has all of those records, and i respect that. i CERTAINLY don't deny them. But look at this year: the devils switch from trap to a traditional 2-2-1 defense, and Marty is allowing 4+ goals a game. He has great numbers but you cant ignore the facts. That is why he's overrated.
