  • Always appreciate a good cry! James Taylor can touch that part of you. Thanks for posting this.

  • I remember listening to this as a child with my parents. I love you James Taylor.

  • Favorite artist of ALL TIME

  • Orcist... James Taylor did not write the lyrics, he composed the music to accompany the lyrics written by one of our nation's most treasured writers: Reynolds Price, who died in January 2011. Check the library for copies of his many books... Incredible author. May he rest in peace.

  • The genius in the lyrics was JT's buddy, writer and professor at Duke, Reynolds Price. Of course only JT can sing like that and come up with the rocking lullaby tune!

  • "I took a fall from a windy height; I only knew how to hold on tight."

My favorite of his. Absolutely love him.

  • Why do they call it like they do?

  • The great troubadour and in my view the greatest male solo artist in the history - a superb writer, singer, guitarist and of course, raconteur. I've been a fan since 1970 and he still casts the samemspell when I hear that voice. Missed his gig in Scotland again due to other commitments but really hope to catch him in concert soon

  • This is one of my absolute favorites.

  • this and carolina on my mind are amazing but nothing beats sweet baby james

  • Love this song, but i have no idea what it's about! Someone please let me know!

  • @sleepyhollowboy27 This song is about the place near Chapel Hill N.C. where he grew up,

and his childhood memories. The part about Hercules is about his dog! You can get full mean-

ings of songs at Songfacts! I hope this helps you sleepyhollowboy! Enjoy...and share with others!

  • James Taylor: Music Genius

  • Kick off your shoes. Find a shady tree by a meandering creek. Park yourself and let the cares of life melt away. I've been a fan of JT's since the 70's and he never fails to WoW me. A Timeless Voice.

  • Sweet mother of crap! I have been looking for this song for years! I first heard this on the radio when I was a little kid and I didn't know the artist, the song title, or a majority of the lyrics, but the beat and tune was always in my head. After so many years of looking for the song, which I though was so awesome, my search is finally over.

Thank you so much, mate, for the help. And thank you, James Taylor, for writing this awesome song from my childhood.

  • @OrcristFilmWarrior It's the real deal my friend, & since you couldn't shake it from your mind>>means ur the real deal as well,,in my book..Thx for posting a wonderful song..Peace on earth!
