My husband is from Nicaragua, the same city Mayorga is from! We were there last year on vacation and we saw Mayorga walking down the street drunk off his ass! He's such a piece of shit and has NO boxing skills at all!
Cotto did not feel hatred towards Mayorga, he was just annoyed by the smack being talked prior to it; now, with Margarito it was a totally different story: that was pure bad blood, pure hatred.
Cotto looks really sharp here, he looks trim and in good condition. He stayed behind his jab the whole night and landed crisp left hooks. Kept his cool with the hot headed mayorga with all of his antics, IDK why he got rid of emanual steward
o shit I wanted to see this fight thats whats up for posting this up I was looking for it but couldnt find it does any one have rodriguez wolak 2 the 2nd time they fought on the cotto margarito undercard I wanna see that
Haha I'm from P.R and really enjoy Mayorga's silly antics leading up to his fights. Smoking while training, his one liners like "Cotto's only known in P.R, I'll whip him at no charge at his own house", kinda like Ali but without the mustard on fightnights which only adds to the comedy.
I don't know, De La Hoya and Trinidad beating easy a young Mayorga, Cotto had some problems in this fight, maybe he's punching power has reduced in this weight
@yepetin81, people are neglecting the fact that Cotto is a naturally smaller guy than DLH and Trinidad, DLH/Trinidad are about 5'11 with over 70' reach. Cotto did fine against Mayorga. He did better than Mosley.
@yepetin81, Cotto fought Margarito with the wrong mind-frame the 1st time. He thought he was gonna be able to stop him, and you're right, Marg is a lot bigger than Cotto. This is exactly what Cotto didn't take into account the first time lol, he brawled with him instead of just boxing, sticking and moving. I would say he underestimated Margarito too. Cotto will not make that mistake again. The only question I have is, how will Cotto react to his punches? Will he get busted up early again?
@georgio210 Well, with his new trainer Cotto looks a lot faster and stronger than ever before so, if he does as good as I expect him to do in a couple of hours, then a rematch with Pacquiao would be a dream come true
@ showmevids1984, if you think that Cotto don't have power in his hands. Face him and tell him to hit you in the face and then tell us about that when you get out of coma after 1 year ok ok bye.
U got to love mayorga in round 3 telling cotto I know this is where u want me is in the corner ill put myself here. Now attack me me bitch show me what u got
@kiaba360 l know all the fights l have of Cotto he always wear Reyes..maybe he wanted to try Everlast..l bet when he fights Margarito he will wear Reyes..both fighters will..those are punchers gloves
Margarito said he had no power, that was at welterweight. Mayorga says he has power, this is junior-middleweight. Cotto wins the re-match with A.M. by knockout if he comes forward to brawl.
@jaimenbaby He was there for both. He actually got in shape for this fight, realizing this was going to be the last time he was ever on a stage this big; not to mention PPV. He was never in shape, and he even admitted as much when talking about the De La Hoya fight among others. I mean, just look at his body in the Shane Mosley fight vs. this one. Mayorga: "I'm in the best shape I've been since fighting Forrest". Of course he wants the money, but he believed Cotto was a 'name' he could beat.
@DanielRivasMusic check out how much shit mayo was talking before the fight, everyone want it to see him getting beat up,the place was pack becouse of him, mayorga ia a smart dude! watch the fight! people came to see mayo doing something wild and he did! mayo is a money maker! bring the show like no one!
Interesting what mayorga said that cotto hits hard, which coming from someone whos had hiding from trinidad mosley and de la hoya is pretty impressive. What I cant understand is why some people seem to find cottos punches powerful (mayorga, mosley, malignaggi) where as others seem to be able to cope with his power fairly easily (pacquaio margarito), particularly margacheato, who was quoted saying '' the man has no power, he couldnt hurt me''.
Please cotto bust that eye up, fuck that cheater up!!
@showmevids1984 I had the same thoughts when I heard Ricardo Mayorga so emphatically say, "he hits hard". Especially up at 154, you're right - it's impressive to hear that come from a guy who has taken shots from the best of the best.
@showmevids1984 LOL....ok. Good luck to him. PS. What I can't understand is why it took Cotto 12 rounds. Interesting. And even then, Mayorga decided not to fight anymore. Not because Cotto knocked him out. Yet you think he can beat Margarito? Right.
@CheeWeeV4 Whats him going 12 rounds with mayorga got to do with anything?
You must be reading the wrong page bro did I say he was going to knock margacheato out?? Na he'll probably just outbox the clown, cause 'tony' is pretty much strong n not much else.
As a massive Cotto fan though I gotta admit my own concerns with regards to him dealing with pressure fighters, we'll just have to see how much power margarito ''really'' has.
@showmevids1984 You have to take into consideration that everytime Margabricko punched Cotto, regardless if it was in the body, head, arms, shoulders, especially the latter two took steam out of Cotto (both stamina and punching power wise)... So no wonder Cotto couldn't hurt him. He was still outboxing him though. I think if it hadn't been for the bricks Cotto would have either won a decision or maybe stopped Margo very late (TKO not KO), depending on the ref too.
@kiaba360 Yea Cotto is an amazing puncher and combination puncher! Pacquiao and Margarito took his punches simply cause they have good chins, especially Margarito.
@kiaba360 wouldnt doubt it..Cotto has power and his left hook @ one time it was the biggest punch around..he still has power so Margarito and others better watch out!!
@showmevids1984 Margacheato has a good chin...he can take a lot of punishment before he goes down..with Mosley he took many big right punches straight to the chin. with Pacquiao I think he might be juiced and that's probably the reason he doesn't feel Cotto's power. Pac was asked a drug test to fight for a millionare payday and he refused. who would do that? is just a test. if he has nothing to hide why not take a test and win millions? boxing isn't a clean sport!
@showmevids1984 Cheat doesn't admit when hes hurt, even said Pac wasn't hurting him in the 4th when his eye was already busting up. He was swollen after that fight and been shit since. Cotto hurt Pac with a few combo's, he actually broke his eardrum. Thing is he hit Cotto with punches that he couldn't see coming. Cotto boxed well some rounds, the ones he won, but lost bc he tried to KO Manny too early.
@showmevids1984 Pacquiao did admit after the fight with Cotto.. "of course it hurts".. he just doesn't wana show he got hurt by cotto's body punches. It's mind game to show ur opponent punches dont affect you.
Miguel Cotto did well, but it wasn't that great. His skill showed, but his defense looked really weak in this fight. I am not sure if he got hit a lot because Mayorga is a wild fighter or he just simply couldn't protect himself? One thing I noticed is that he isn't the same fighter, clearly, after the Margarito fight. Hopefully he can win the rematch though. Cotto will always be my favorite fighter.
@laboxingdannyvega Mayorga really didn't land many clean shots on Cotto. Cotto's strategy was to slip Mayorga's wild punches and counter him. I think the talk of Cotto's decline post Margarito is greatly exaggerated.
@cpussandfudgy Well Mayorga did land a lot of solid punches and you could see Cotto was affected by a lot of them. They probably weren't very clean punches, but they landed well enough to put pain on Cotto. Also, yes what you said was Cotto's strategy and at some points he did follow the strategy well, but majority of the time he didn't. As far as declining after the Margarito fight that is debatable. Watch some of his old fights compared to his recent fights. The difference shows.
@laboxingdannyvega "marjority of time he didn't"...I strongly disagree. If you watch the exchanges closely, Mayorga threw ridiculously wide punches that were missing the mark while Cotto's combinations were crisp and catching Mayorga on the chin. I didn't see a major desperity between the Cotto who fought Foreman and the one who fought Quintana. How Cotto looked against Mayorga had more to do with the opponent and Cotto's strategy than some major decline in ability.
@cpussandfudgy I never said he fought bad because of a decline after the Margarito fight. Styles do make fights, allowing Mayorga to land a lot of unnecessary punches. The strategy needed to beat Mayorga was utilized but not as well as I would have expected it to be. Which is okay because styles do make fights. Although I still think Cotto may of changed after the Margarito fight, I don't think the change was bad. He looks a lot more careful now and less aggressive. Which can be bad or good
@laboxingdannyvega He's in a decline...we all are. To be honest...I'm not sure what is left for Cotto. I don't think he can beat Martinez, Pacquiao or Mayweather and anybody else from 147-154 is kind of a step backward. He's made enough money in the sport...I have a feeling retirement is around the corner.
@pmount07 No shame in losing to Trinidad, De La Hoya, Mosley and Cotto. The guy was never at the level of the elite guys (somehow had Forrest's number) but always put on a good show. I think he still has enough in the tank to compete (and possible beat) guys like Angulo, Kirkland and Alvarez. Any of these matchups would be wildly entertaining.
Under Emmanuel Steward, Cotto regained three things: his confidence, his jab, and his footwork. If he had fought Pacquiao intelligently, as he did here, instead of just planting himself in front of Manny and eating shots all night, he could have at least finished that fight.
@tpalui cotto would kill canelo..l say after cotto avenges his loss to margraito he tries to avenge his other loss to pacquia..we'll see how it plays out
@raa0925 to be honest bro, i have no idea. i have been looking for MONTHS. i know the lyrics to the song from listening, and i even have searched that and nothing came up. i know for 200% sure Daddy Yankee is singing it. So what i'm thinking is maybe it was a custom song just for Cotto fight. If you listen he keeps saying "Prestige Prestige" which was one of Daddy Yankee's albums released a while back. But even then this song is not off that album. Pero, Boricua stand up!

cotto can b caught off balance when he does the little jumps in between exchanges, its a split second u can surprise him wit a jab nd make him panic well not really cus hes a pro but idk if someone agrees or disagrees let me kno respectfully
@mmycomputer I think you can catch him, but as far as knocking him out it would just be a lucky shot. He has jumped for a second or two will fighting against some of the best. I know you said "make him panic" but I doubt it as well, and if he does you probably couldn't tell (Cotto keeps a straight face). It's good you pointed it out though, it might happen in the future who knows right?
That was what we call in the island EL CORRIENTAZO (The electric shock). He was hit in the right side of his chin & it went down all the way to his left hand. Then his thumb start wigglin like crazy. Medically proven (I think).

Any of these matchups would be wildly entertaining.

cotto has really lost speed since even the foreman fight

Under Emmanuel Steward, Cotto regained three things: his confidence, his jab, and his footwork. If he had fought Pacquiao intelligently, as he did here, instead of just planting himself in front of Manny and eating shots all night, he could have at least finished that fight.

Pero, Boricua stand up!

cotto can b caught off balance when he does the little jumps in between exchanges, its a split second u can surprise him wit a jab nd make him panic well not really cus hes a pro but idk if someone agrees or disagrees let me kno respectfully
mmycomputer 6 months ago
@mmycomputer I think you can catch him, but as far as knocking him out it would just be a lucky shot. He has jumped for a second or two will fighting against some of the best. I know you said "make him panic" but I doubt it as well, and if he does you probably couldn't tell (Cotto keeps a straight face). It's good you pointed it out though, it might happen in the future who knows right?

Thanks 4 the vid.
Cotto had a couple good things going for him. He didn't take too many shots & his left hook is accurate.

That was what we call in the island EL CORRIENTAZO (The electric shock). He was hit in the right side of his chin & it went down all the way to his left hand. Then his thumb start wigglin like crazy. Medically proven (I think).
