I will be on this flight Mid June, from HK to Chicago. I booked the flight BEFORE learning there are no personal entertainment /tv in economy class, nor is there power outlet, just tiny overheads. I will be on flight 895 from Chicago to Hongkong in May. I think UA did not upgrade the economy cabin (like Air Canada did on most of its international flights) cuz they're replacing it with the upcoming A350... the 747s are around 15 years old, so it makes little economic sense to renovate the cabin

i took that flight from SIN to HK too just a week ago and I paid only SGD399 for return, all inclusive. It was the cheapest non-budget flight i could find. Great aircraft as it was a B747 jumbo, but the only thing that's lacking was that there were no personal screens in front of you like you would get on SQ or CX flights. It was hard for me to kill that 3 hours and 20 mins without any entertainment! Snacks was decent, of course cannot compared to inflight meals served on SQ or CX flights.
