it's open d 1 step lower in unplugged versions along with the great escape and two is better than one. i know this because i've studied how they play it inside and out. i listened very closely to his open chord in the chorus and while watching a video of the great escape i found that most of his power chords are all just open bar chords on the top four strings....not too difficult but it takes a while to get used to....when i get a camera i could probably explain it a lot better.
