What annoys me the most is when people, not those in the video, say to an arachnophobia that 'Spiders can't hurt you', because that's not the point, it's not a fear of them hurting us, it's an irrational fear, I can't explain my fear of spider, I know I'm bigger than them and they're scared of me, but regardless of those facts I'm still sitting here unable to go to sleep at 1:00am because there are two house spiders in my room and I'm completely petrified...

It's not that they're dangerous, I'm not even worried about them coming near me. A spider can be DEAD and I'll still be terrified. Not because I think they're going to hurt me or even come within 10 FEET of me, they're just terrifying. Up at 11 PM here cus there was one in my back yard and I almost had a mental breakdown.

I'm able to look at videos and pictures of spiders(which I do, assuming it will help with my phobia), but I still can't pick one up nor be near it. The strange thing about my phobia is that I'm only petrified of a few species of spiders(I still hate them all though, they creep me out). Long Jawed Spiders, Cellar Spiders, and Harvestmen(although not real spiders) are the worst. The large hairy spiders are no near as scarey as the 3 spiders I mentioned above.

I have an extreme fear of spiders. I'm a 29 year old guy and I panic like a little boy when I see a spider. The onyl spider I don't fear is the daddy-long-legs. Even a picture of a spider makes me panic. And the strange thing is... I think spiders are actually fascinating and extremely clean and useful animals. They're not agressive towards humans unless you provoke them. There is no reason to fear them at all... but I still do.

This "fear" of spiders I have is more than just a fear. I hyperventilate loose all control of reality and can not even think straight. I wish more than anything that I did not have this fear. If I even look at a picture of one I panic and will have nightmares about them for nights. I don't know what to do, I feel it goes deeper than just beings afriad, it must be some form of deep seated bonaged or repressed trama.
I really wish I didn't watch this video. The photo they showed at the beginning of the episode really scared me. I know I'm gonna have a nightmare about it tonight. awww i feel for those who have this phobia, my hubby came inside one day saying "hun can you come get this huge spider out of the tub in the laundry"....well when i went to get it it was huge (for New Zealand), i was a little scared, but got a container and removed it, shouldve heard the noise its legs made on the next door neighbours roof!! tap tap tap tap....ewww, lol

i think it stems from childhood. my fear of spiders started when i was 4 when i saw a daddy long leg walk across the room. it was monstrous to me at that age and i've never gotten over it. i remember it being as big as a basketball. i've since developed fears of other insects too. i kill any insect that enters my home now.

i know this is wierd but tiny spiders scare the shit outta me, yet big ass tarantulas never scare me. idk why, but tarantulas are never scary to me, just the smaller spiders. i know its pretty wierd, but i always thought it like this, since tarantulas are so big and hairy, i usually think of them as mammals instead of bugs.

Wow i was like a 7 just watching this.......I cant stand spiders, and I see them all the time being that i live in Florida. I just don't like so many fast legs with 8 beety eyes and that hairy sack of an ass, oh and lets not forget the sting that comes from there but. NOTHING LIKE RUNNING THREW SPIDER BUT STRING!

Oh man, I am SO scared of spiders. I mean, it's so bad, that when ever I see picture of them in books or on TV, i freak out. Those pictures seem to come alive. for example, wasps. if you fear wasps at least you can hear them buzzing around you and you know where they are.

They make absolutely no sound so you cannot hear them if they are near you. their legs are made so they can walk on sticky surfaces without getting stuck. they fucking lay eggs in your ears while you are sleeping, they canot get stuck in ur sticky earwax..etc

There are many misconceptions about spiders. They are not as violent and mean as the movies want you to believe. Some of them can be quite gentle and docile, as well as beautiful, displaying elaborate colors and markings. Once you learn more about them and ditch the bad expectations or misconceptions, they become unique and amazing animals. Learn more about them! I did and I no longer suffer from arachnophobia! I plan on a pet Tarantula, too! Replace fear with interest! =)
My mom told me my phobia came from many years ago when I was a toddler, I had a tarantula crawl on my face and bite me. (Luckily it was not a venom spider) Just looking at a spider big or small close up sends jolts through my heart and can even give me nightmares. (However I have almost no fear of daddy long legs.)

Daddy long legs are my absolute worst fear. But my fear decreases as the spider get bigger, meatier, like tarantulas. It's amazing how 2 more legs on an insect can scare the shit out of people. Most people have no problem with normal 6-leg insects at all.

Wow I know EXACTLY what you mean. I check my room over and over and over before I feel safe to get into my bed (after I shake out my bedspread, of course), then CONSTANTLY peek over and look all over my floor again to make sure I don't see anything, sleep with shoes on so they can't bite my feet, sleep with my lights on AND baracade my door and windows by stuffing towels through all the cracks. I'm strarting to think I need to look into medical help, as I can barely live in my own home.
If you have a very good imagination and you also have arachnaphobia, whichi have both, it makes for a very interesting evening. I can easily convince myself that there's a spider in my room, that's why i always wear my boots, even in my place, really wish i didn't have arachnaphobie.

I always find it funny when people ask me to scale things between 1 to 10. what is a 10 fear? is it pure terror- pissing crapping yourself, shaking uncontrollably, rooted to the spot? I have never experienced the limit of fear so what is 5 - is it half of something I have never experienced, how to you work out half of an emotion. Of course I realise the are trying to find a way to guage your reactions but it still makes me laugh.

I myself am arachnophobic. When I got done watching Arachnophobia the movie, I was sweating from all over, and my couch was literally dripping of sweat. What's terrible is that I always have nightmares about spiders. They're always the size of mansions and they're furry and have huge fangs and, uggh, I just want to barf and die. Even the word "spider" creeps me out. Also, when I see a daddy longlegs sometimes, I go into a terrible panic attack.

Yesterday, my friend Jose put a wooden spider under my desk without me knowing, and when I looked under my desk for a pen I dropped, I saw it and shreiked really loudly. The teacher looked at me like, "WTF?". The thing is, before I realized that it was just made of wood, the only thing that registered in my mind was the shape of a spider. Like the man in the video you probably do have to face your fears in order to get over them, but in your case I'd suggest, if you want to give it a go on your own, starting off very small, perhaps with pictures of spiders less than an inch long by an inch wide and work your way up. This is similar to how scientists and therapists have been treating extreme cases of the phobia using virtual reality, first making the paitent looking at a very small spider a good (percieved) distance away
im scared of very enclosed areas found that out the hard way when we went exploring a cave in my town lots of tight squeezes and i started really freaking out after about 30 mins inside
I have the opposite of you little ones dont bother me but big ones send shivers down my spine. I remember when I saw the spider scene from the second Harry Potter movie I was looking at the screen through gaps between my fingers cuz i just couldnt stand looking at them. Some might scoff at the idea of an aracnophobe becoming a vet, but that sort of thing is actually more common than you might think, so don't be discouraged... I once heard of a person who had a near crippling fear of illness in any form (such as having a panic attack when someone vomited) who went on to become a doctor, so it's not impossible...
im ok with them its just the big sized one is the no no ones. i remember i tryed killing one and yea it was the daddy then when i say the mommy with the eggs and it was a big mommy i ran like hell i mean im not fat but good sized for a 16 year old 160 lbs but that is the fastest i have ever ran.

This "fear" of spiders I have is more than just a fear. I hyperventilate loose all control of reality and can not even think straight. I wish more than anything that I did not have this fear. If I even look at a picture of one I panic and will have nightmares about them for nights. I don't know what to do, I feel it goes deeper than just beings afriad, it must be some form of deep seated bonaged or repressed trama.

i think it stems from childhood. my fear of spiders started when i was 4 when i saw a daddy long leg walk across the room. it was monstrous to me at that age and i've never gotten over it. i remember it being as big as a basketball. i've since developed fears of other insects too. i kill any insect that enters my home now.

I suffer of arachnophobia. Yesterday me and my girlfriend went to a little cabin in the forest, her parents own that place and I wanted to see it. They hadn't been there for a while, and when we arrived the doorlock was already covered in spiderwebs. When we opened the door we went inside.. It was full of spiderwebs, and when I arrived in the kitchen I saw the biggest spider I'd ever seen, it was as big as my hand O.o I totally freaked and almost fainted x).. really made a fool of myself -.-

i know this is wierd but tiny spiders scare the shit outta me, yet big ass tarantulas never scare me. idk why, but tarantulas are never scary to me, just the smaller spiders. i know its pretty wierd, but i always thought it like this, since tarantulas are so big and hairy, i usually think of them as mammals instead of bugs.

Wow i was like a 7 just watching this.......I cant stand spiders, and I see them all the time being that i live in Florida. I am extremely PETRIFIED of spiders! I can't stand the sight of them, my knees start to weaken. A spider jumped on my bed last night and it took me atleast 20 minutes to get the courage to kill it, cause it was pretty big. A wish I wasn't afraid of spiders anymore, but I can't help it.

There's a spider on my wall right now.. Its quite thick and have like 3-5 cm long legs.

Oh man, I am SO scared of spiders. I mean, it's so bad, that when ever I see picture of them in books or on TV, i freak out. Those pictures seem to come alive. I can't even touch a picture of a spider, cause it seems real. Whenever I hear/see a spider, I start freaking out, and hallucinating that spiders are all over. I mean, I just hate spiders. Especially those ones with bulb-shaped bodies, and long, thin legs.
If there's one thing i wish God wold take away, it would be spiders.

I have an absolutely terrible phobia of spiders. I hate being so afraid of them. I've tried to confront it by reading about them and looking at pictures. They are very interesting and I even enjoy reading about them, but the second I see one I completely panic. Everytime I go into a pet shop I send my friend around to make sure there arent any spiders. I even think about them at night before I go to sleep so theyre not in my subconscious, so I dont have nightmares :-( Someone help me!!

Help is here. The technique that Nik and Eva used to cure David is detailed in a step by step guide in Nik and Eva's book, 'Your Life Can Be Fantastic Too', (available on Amazon). You just need to close your eyes whilst someone talks you through the steps and you too like David can be cured. No one should have to put up with a fear like this and you dont have either.

for example, wasps. if you fear wasps at least you can hear them buzzing around you and you know where they are.

There are many misconceptions about spiders. They are not as violent and mean as the movies want you to believe. Some of them can be quite gentle and docile, as well as beautiful, displaying elaborate colors and markings. Once you learn more about them and ditch the bad expectations or misconceptions, they become unique and amazing animals. Learn more about them! I did and I no longer suffer from arachnophobia! I plan on a pet Tarantula, too! Replace fear with interest! =)

My mom told me my phobia came from many years ago when I was a toddler, I had a tarantula crawl on my face and bite me. (Luckily it was not a venom spider) Just looking at a spider big or small close up sends jolts through my heart and can even give me nightmares. (However I have almost no fear of daddy long legs.)

Daddy long legs are my absolute worst fear. But my fear decreases as the spider get bigger, meatier, like tarantulas. It's amazing how 2 more legs on an insect can scare the shit out of people. Most people have no problem with normal 6-leg insects at all.

I check my room over and over and over before I feel safe to get into my bed (after I shake out my bedspread, of course), then CONSTANTLY peek over and look all over my floor again to make sure I don't see anything, sleep with shoes on so they can't bite my feet, sleep with my lights on AND baracade my door and windows by stuffing towels through all the cracks. I'm strarting to think I need to look into medical help, as I can barely live in my own home.

Aww, I understand your pain... When I was in junior high some stupid assholes pulled a prank on me by placing two toy spiders on my desk and I literally screamed and cry that I almost fainted on the spot.
People don't understand just how downright horrible it is to have a certain fear or something. Even when I try to kill it on my own my heart starts to race so fast and the last minute I chicken out.

I always find it funny when people ask me to scale things between 1 to 10. what is a 10 fear? is it pure terror- pissing crapping yourself, shaking uncontrollably, rooted to the spot? I have never experienced the limit of fear so what is 5 - is it half of something I have never experienced, how to you work out half of an emotion. Of course I realise the are trying to find a way to guage your reactions but it still makes me laugh.

I think there's 3 things that makes me arachnaphobic.
1) They look horrible. Just from a looks point of view they are nasty looking creatures.
2) They are perfectly symmetrical and round, and fast moving, which means you never know where this horrible looking creature could go.
3) All it's little legs moving in unison just freaks me out, the thought gives me goosebumps.

I myself am arachnophobic. When I got done watching Arachnophobia the movie, I was sweating from all over, and my couch was literally dripping of sweat. What's terrible is that I always have nightmares about spiders. They're always the size of mansions and they're furry and have huge fangs and, uggh, I just want to barf and die. Even the word "spider" creeps me out. Also, when I see a daddy longlegs sometimes, I go into a terrible panic attack.

I HATE SPIDERS! I will not sleep in my room if I know there is a spider there. You know those rubber spiders? I would not go near it or I will not touch it. So I do have arachnophobia

I'm not scarred but just disgusted to an insane degree. I have trouble killing them and have to squint because I can't bare seeing them gush out their guts as I swat them. bleh!

I am extremely scared of spiders. Yesterday, my friend Jose put a wooden spider under my desk without me knowing, and when I looked under my desk for a pen I dropped, I saw it and shreiked really loudly. The teacher looked at me like, "WTF?". The thing is, before I realized that it was just made of wood, the only thing that registered in my mind was the shape of a spider. I started laughing my ass off once I realized that it was fake.

i wouldnt even be able to touch the toys let alone go near a real one. I would of pegged it put of the studio as soon as i seen that guy carrying the box in. I do wish i cud get over my fear tho as i am petrified of them

Like the man in the video you probably do have to face your fears in order to get over them, but in your case I'd suggest, if you want to give it a go on your own, starting off very small, perhaps with pictures of spiders less than an inch long by an inch wide and work your way up. This is similar to how scientists and therapists have been treating extreme cases of the phobia using virtual reality, first making the paitent looking at a very small spider a good (percieved) distance away

I have the opposite of you little ones dont bother me but big ones send shivers down my spine. I remember when I saw the spider scene from the second Harry Potter movie I was looking at the screen through gaps between my fingers cuz i just couldnt stand looking at them. Spiders are just grotesque, I dont know whats worse their Eyes or their Legs.

You just need to close your eyes whilst someone talks you through the steps and you too like David can be cured. No one should have to put up with a fear like this and you dont have too.

im ok with them its just the big sized one is the no no ones. i remember i tryed killing one and yea it was the daddy then when i say the mommy with the eggs and it was a big mommy i ran like hell i mean im not fat but good sized for a 16 year old 160 lbs but that is the fastest i have ever ran.
