you guys are idiots. i can write a song in less than 5 mins. producing is the hardest most time consuming part for me and i do it everyday. music is not about how you get the sound its how the sound makes you feel. i don't like everything by dr. luke but he's got my respect.
@MrMeluckycharms All the negative comments in here are coming from hipsters who are lashing out at the world because it upsets them their favs can't score a hit
for naujelbr who comically says this is art. you really think this?
true art has a message that touches mankind's spirtual needs.
this is playschool music that sells massive units as it caters for the masses of spoonfed listeners who are neither into music nor art and are so weak willed and lacking in any aesthetic they allow themselves to be manipulated by the music industry into liking this garbage.
this music really does highlight how dumbed down our society is
@fakfork True art has no definition...seems like YOU need to go back to the drawing table...just sayin...you remind me of those hipsters who are upset that their favorite 3 piece band that plays at the corner bar every Wednesday night isn't popular outside the block
OMG, i cannot believe how sad and angry you are to feel the urge to respond to all these people's opinions on this subject. Are you Dr Luke's boyfriend or something?
Ugh, I am done. I'm not going to spam this video by arguing with a brick wall. Some people are gonna be disrespectful bullies and haters, no matter what you say to them.
The only thing I don't like about this guy is that all of the music he produces sounds the same. And every artist he works with he usually autotunes the hell out of them (when they usually don't need it.)
Thank you for posting this Yannickharv. I saw Dr. Luke at this years ASCAP I creat e music and it was one hour that highlighted my year so far. He thinks pop music and I hope to some day do the same. He is also very open about sharing his techniques and skills which not all producers do.
Unless you are a songwriter and producer yourself, and you can produce at this sort of level, you really cannot talk because you do not understand the skill involved in producing hits.
@DanielPinkertonMusic DUDE I KNOW RITE! Im a 13 year old producer and i tell people at school that i produce electronic music, they say "It takes no talent or skill. The computer does it all for you." But they really dont know the countless hours it took me to make some of my songs! With out these producer, these shitty pop artist wouldnt be anywhere. I wish these producers would just go solo and make awesome electronica...
@DanielPinkertonMusic "produce at this sort of level"? You mean the level where you just rinse and repeat a bunch of age old pop-music techniques with the end goal of milking a bunch of (artistically) uninspired soccer moms for every last penny? I mean when the product is just a copy, of a copy, of a copy... it's hard to honestly believe that he's actually doing it to express himself b/c the art becomes perverted into a business model. This guys no fucking Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, that's for sure.
@alphaguitar2 You shouldn't assume things about people, just because you dislike something. Believe it or not, many people out there love pop music and making pop music.
@AliciaFina Yeah of course, because they love making money. I don't think business has any business (lol) being intertwined with art. Sure I could write a ton of easy and crappy pop songs and sell them to disney channel stars but where would that get me, that's not a progression of self expression, it's de-evolution. To someone who takes it seriously it just feels like a bastardization of music, turning an beautiful tool into a simple toy, exploiting people who are new to it's culture.
@AliciaFina Lol I can't believe you said kesha. Many people share your lack of understanding of this subject and that's why popular music is what it is. You have a willingness to settle and a don't have the craving to explore beyond what is comfortable to you. Genres mean nothing to me, they're just tools for ease of reference and I don't have prejudice against differences, I EMBRACE THEM. Maybe one day more people will actually see the unoriginality and lack of creativity in these "artists".
@alphaguitar2@alphaguitar2 Dude omg.. all pop sounds similar, for the same reason all cake tastes similar. People LIKE it to. go write a good original song before you talk shit.
@alexarma4 Are you really comparing art to eating?? Seriously?? So what you're saying is when you want to express yourself, you sit down in front of jersey fucking shore and stuff your face with chocolate cake?? How can you be that dense?? Producers like this find pretty faces with workable voices and write shitty repetitive sellout songs for them. Then the pretty face gets a boob job and some vocal training and voila, you've got yourself a modern day cash cow. Art: /watch?v=LjLJf8YIZmU&ob=av2e
@alphaguitar2 Wow, way to assume things. I mean you being a hater was obvious to all, but me a redneck brainwashed nerd? That's just sad of you to say.
@WillSander4 Oh I'm sorry, is it wrong of me to give my first impression of you based on your shallow and pointless disagreement with my opinion on the matter? It's not like your comment that I was replying to was worth anything, you didn't say anything of value, what I've said about this man is true... you just don't like hearing it. You know what? You're right, people shouldn't be held accountable for the things they say. What was I thinking.
@alphaguitar2 Who cares about originality? Different styles of music are made for different reasons, some are for entertainment and some are for thought. Pop is entertainment...why are you mad though?
@liltigermando Who cares about originality? Who cares about self expression? Who gives a fuck about even being alive, fuck it lets all just sit back and remove our brains with an ice cream scoop. The point is, it's fucking disrespectful what he does. He rips people off without crediting them, then when they try to call him out on it in the courts, he just makes the problems disappear into his ridiculously deep pockets. Art and "the entertainment business" should never have gone hand in hand.
@judenihalmusic there are still major producers using Fl Studio. Afrojack (Give me everything), Jaylien (Beautiful - Akon ) and a lot of Indie Producers use Fl Studio. ANd FL is rated number one DAW on Music radar. Search "Number one DAW" on Google.
@judeniranjan23 Huh really? Anyways thats awesome since I use FL studio for beats, it doesn't mark my music unprofessional since I use it just for beat programming.
Reason, Ableton Live, and Logic are the major ones I'd say. FL can only compete if you have a bunch of high quality plug ins and sound packs that accumulate in cost to be more expensive than any of the first three programs I mentioned.
Terrible, radio is what really killed music they played these songs like they were the only musicians on the planet. You have to hunt around to find good music now. A bass, a clash, and a tempo, not too much talent Dr Luke has the record industry marketing behind him. these artist are big because the songs are played every other minute and their faces are plastered everywhere. Eventually your going to run out of songs their Dr. Luke.
But it's not Dr. Luke.. it's the fans that listen to the music. THAT's the reason why it's being constantly overexposed on radio. Labels are very stingy with money.. if these songs did not sell, they would not be investing into this genre of music. That was TOP SECRET info, shh.
@OMFGitsLindyLopez Thats not all the way true. All hit songs have something in common and they are not hits just because they are overexposed. That has something to do with it...a hit cant be a hit sitting in the basement. It has to be EXPOSED. Radio creates hits. But "radio friendly" pop songs are NOT easy to create. There is a reason why some songs sell and some songs dont. Believe it or not, there is a formula for creating pop music. There are a lot of characteristics that all pop songs have.
@reaper69316 Were you paying attention to the part where Dr .Luke played with an SNL band for 10 years? So his entire music career has not been based on computer samples and beats. That was just the big break he's been longing for and what's wrong with that?
