I can't believe all you fans of Wall St. that worship money think it's OK for these leeches to make billions while their fellow human beings starve every day. In a civilized society, some intelligent people would put their efforts into something worthwhile & none would put effort into taking advantage of others.
@tripfunkmonster You're silly. They don't worship money. They just like the feeling of having a stuffed wallet. It's good that they make so much using their skills. It gives us an incentive to try to emulate them.
@KoalaBearWarrior: Who's being silly? You emulate people who don't care about their fellow countrymen because they'd rather have a fat wallet than live in a civilized society? That's fucked up. And, yes they do worship money. Capitalism is the state religion of the U.S. How can you not see that? You're allowing others to think & prioritize for you.
@tripfunkmonster You're being silly because you do not understand basic economics. A fat wallet is a natural result of a civilized society. Don't like it? Well thats too bad. No one said you had to. You are right in that Capitalism is the state religion. I wish we'd adhered to it's true doctrines more though, instead of bending over for liberal pot smoking hippies like you. The beauty of capitalism is that everyone has a chance to be somebody. If you want it, you gotta go all out though.
@KoalaBearWarrior: You assume a lot. You're wrong in stating I don't understand basic economics. The truth is that I detest basic (& complicated) economics. It stifles the development of a complete human being. We have very different definitions of the term "civilized". That's the issue. It's extremely sad that adults believe that being "somebody" is having a fat wallet. You are one of the newer models of indoctrinated slaves put out by Wall St./Madison Ave. - you're not embarrassed about it.
@tripfunkmonster Why should I be embarrassed about wanting to achieve the American dream? Sorry buddy, but you lack a basic knowledge of economics. Why don't you go outside and protest instead of living in your parents basement and typing leftist nonsense on the internet. Sound economics leads to human progress. You've got it backwards buddy.
@KoalaBearWarrior: You should be embarrassed at being manipulated into thinking it's normal human behavior to want as much money as possible knowing that the system you support adversely affects so many other fellow human beings. Money is not the American dream, freedom is - & if you don't know the difference there's nothing more to discuss. By the way - I support two children, my parents have passed on and, unlike you, I think my own thoughts - BUDDY.
@tripfunkmonster Manipulated? How so? I follow Capitalism willingly. Every system on Earth affects people adversely, Capitalism is just one of them. Communism killed more people than Capitalism. Hence, if you want to be a humanitarian, you should be a Capitalist. Money and freedom may not be the same, but they are intertwined. Its good you support two children, I just hope you don't pass your hippy rhetoric on to them.
@KoalaBearWarrior: We've been indoctrinated into Capitalism our entire lives - every day. That's what I mean by manipulation. Communism hasn't been around since the Early Christians. It hasn't "killed more people than Capitalism"- that's part of the indoctrination. Mao & Stalin were the leaders of Statist Dictatorships - not communism. And, you seem to be under the impression that there can be nothing other than Capitalism & communism (or more precisely socialism). We will eventually evolve.
@tripfunkmonster You miss the point entirely. I have not been indoctrinated into capitalism. It is a free choice. I have looked at Lenin and Marx's writings, and they are not realistic, because they ignore the fact that people are naturally greedy.Capitalism doesn't ignore that, and that is why it is successful. Mao and Stalin are communist in the Leninist sense, and that is semantics. Capitalism requires resources so of course when the resource run out, there will have to be a change somewhat.
Hah typical government blaming the speculators BULSH!T. People who buy low and sell high (i.e. those who make profits), as any one with a functional brain will know, dampens swings in prices rather than amplifying them. The faggot who claimed in this video that they drove lehman and bear-stearns into the ground does not understand the direction of cause and effect, and probably believes that getting fat makes you eat too much.
i feel sorry for the bankers and hedge fund managers who lost their job in the recent financial crisis more than the mainstreet citizen blue collar workers who had their home forclosured. my heart goes out to the former employees of bearstearns, lehman brothers, merrill lynch and etc
Now that there are hedge fund managers missing and committing suicide, especially the Madoff scandal, guess these guys were wrong. Are all the hedge funds Ponzi schemes?
Are all the hedge funds Ponzi schemes. Of course not. Hedge funds make legitimate returns from buying equities and then selling them for profit or loss. They then return these rewards to investor pockets and their pockets. A ponzi scheme is where say you give me $100 and then someone comes along and gives me $25. I then give them your $100. They are thinkinbg great, its much like the social security system.
