You have to extract the pk4 file from the rar/zip archive into the Doom 3 base directory and that's it. I know 'cuz I've done it many times on my pal's computer. He has got Doom 3 and the mods work fine.

OK, I'll be educated. First, search FileFront, they've got some good stuff there. Then, after you downloaded what you want, copy the pak#.pk4 to the Base folder. If you want as a separate mod, throw the .pk4 file into a folder within the Doom 3 one (like C:\Program\Files\Doom 3\Duct Tape Mod).

if i'm not mistaken, this "flashlight" thingy works the same way a 'projected light' does in the doomedit editor through some clever scripting. so it differs from the in-game flashlight item.
I've got the xbox version so I can't use this. It seems great, but the whole darkness thing actually only becomes a big problem in maybe three areas, when it's pitch black. Besides, I guess the mod wouldn't help me all that much anyway since I pretty much only use the plasma rifle and the chainsaw anyway. Since the shotgun is only worth a damn at point blank range, I figure I might as well use the chainsaw and end the fight immediately. And that thing cuts through zombies like margarine.

I'll replace the gunlight with the flashlight, screw the brightness. The flashlight is bright enough.

Duct Tape straps a flashlight to your machinegun in Doom 3
INSTALLATION
Unpack, copy the pak005.pk4 to your /base directory, and run
Doom3. Note that if you have any save games, loading them will
make them start at the beginning of the level. If you remove
duct-tape, then they will start at whereever they were before.
