  • This concert was performed without even one rehearsal and still they co-ordinate so well! Fantastic!

  • They are brilliant!

  • OMG Bhimsen Joshi!!!!

  • Watching two great souls....... like two hansas (swans)in a celestial lake playing among themselves......forgetting the world around.....a pleasing experience..... they were great friends also.

  • people still for race!!! ... on this plat form!!! nice way to respect music gentlemen ...shame on you people......

Please find better place .. dont disgrace the masters.. idiots

  • To Kiranhasyagar: You are displaying your ignorance when you attack some one as Tamilian because of some one's ignorant comments. Balamurali Krishna is from Andapradesh and the name Champadu also sounds like a Telugu person to me. This just shows that you used this opportunity to trash Tamilians and showed the venom in you. BTW most of these songs were composed by Balamurali Krishna.

  • Calling Tamilian ignorant and shooting cheap shots does not make one better. Tamilians are respected every where. Just because one Tamilian made that comment there is no need to put all Tamilians down. I for one enjoy all kinds of music.

  • Enjoyed the feast of sangeet by the two luminaries of the music world .

  • for the first time I saw two Suns together!

  • Thanks for upload prax78.Two great masters showing national integration through music a lesson to be learnt by all.It is truely touching and amazing the way they enjoy eatch others talent.

  • I just wishes these duels are recorded by someone in HQ audio...pray pray

  • One Is big ferocious wave and the other slow lazy beautiful hill river .. and we are gainers to witness the confluence Thank You

  • Audio Quality is not good bro, upload if you have good one, orelse take this down..

I was too exited to listen to two legends, but audio disappointed me.

  • IT IS UNIMAGINABLE WHEN THESE 2 LEGENDS SIT TOGETHER AND SING

  • Ohhhh! What a Combination!! Pranams to the Greatest Artists!!!!!!

  • 9:55 so beautiful their affection for one another!

Bhimsen-ji is my all-time Hindustani HERO! B.K. is also wonderful.

    Thanks for a wonderful vid.

  • What a great sight ! One has to take innumerable births to be able to see these two greats performing together. After hearing to them, no wonder, soul gets purified. I am indebted to prax.

  • there are so many people who have commented comparing them... they are just ignorant fools.... at the end you see how these two greats respect each other.... people should learn from these greats not just music but also other aspects..to begin with is to respect eachother....

  • Thank you, absolute treat!

  • @ north-south combination, intervals are very clearly different but absolutely charming !!!!

  • beautiful- these are our jewels- god bless them

  • Thanks a lot for sharing this great JugalBandhi, what a pleasant and spontaneous improvisations. Heard they are the first to start the Carnatik and Hindusthani Jugalbandhi, hope that's true. Thanks a lot for sharing the joy, feeling bad that I missed it all these days.

  • Music is lost on you my friend.

  • Beyond words.....

  • kya baat hai....many many thanks for uploading......

  • Nice, but Bhimsen should sing into the mike a little more :) No offense meant, but half of it is not audible

  • This should be the most watched video.. no words to describe watching 2 GREAT LIONS of INDIAN music...................... Please upload full of this concert cause starting of this song is missing!!!.

  • Gods on a terrestrial visitation from the Celestial !!

The ladies on Mridangam & Violin are truly great. All the respect to them,

  • Wow! OMG ! I am in tears !!! Literally !!!

    I am crying atm !

And look at cheap comments like that of this ignorant fool Chempadu or w/e...

    He compares!

OMG! Can u compare your dad and mum?

U nut! these ppl have realized God! They dnt sing for cheapos like u and me. They sing for the God that resides in them. So keep quiet if u dont know anything about ICM. Just STFU.

  • Such a divine jugal bandhi. million thanks. it would be great if u could upload the vilambit too, if any. even just a small part of it. Thanks in advance.

  • mr chempu or whatever it is, one needs to grow up and think beyond the borders and admire the greatest talents.. both are great singers.. and comparing and making funny statements make one even smaller.

who are you to compare the greatest???

you know how to sing a 'Sa' forget the rest?

    I agree with

    kiranhasyagar

  • Hello Mr. Chempadu, it only shows the cheap mentality of you Tamilians. Instead of acknowledging the great music, u r here tryin to impose ur superiority. That is the reason Tamilians arent respected everywhere. U guys dont have the culture to acknowledge others' greatness also...keep swimming in your ignorant well, who cares about your opinions??

  • @kiranhasyagar Please don't say that. Don't let one ignorant fool goad you to the conclusion that Tamilians aren't respected or that they are ignorant.

  • Two great singers! Wonderful rendition.

  • Thank you. Could you please post the full concert

  • Priceless :)

  • Weaving a garland of notes

    Creating an unparalleled melody

    Harmony unmatched...

    Awake, young India.

  • ya to apna ap ma ek merical ha

  • Thanks a ton for posting this!

    I admire both the maestros!

  • There is no competition. Dr. Balakrishna Murli and Pt. Bhimsen Joshi are both performing whilst remaining within the respective boundaries of .Northern and Southern classical music. Pundit Bhimsen Joshi's electric and masterly 'taans' in the very last portion are unbelievable. Watch the mathemetical precision and accuracy, as well as the consistent emotional value, of this materly performance. Look at how spontaneously Bhimsen Joshi shakes his head to catch the next 'shruti' or micro-tone.

  • No, Bhimsen Joshi is not trying to dominate. There is no competition. Dr. Balakrishna Murli and Pt. Bhimsen Joshi are both performing while remaining within the respective boundaries of .Northern and Southern classical music. Pundit Bhimsen Joshi's electric and masterly 'taans' in the very last portion are unbelievable. • thanks a ton !!

  • Divine..

  • Hey :),

    I listened the Panditji's video today, :)

    Roopa

  • great one ....

  • i don think this is any song. This is just a self-composed pallavi.

  • Somebody here could give the link to the lyric of this beautiful song of Purandhara Das? Thank you

  • great upload

  • 2 maestros together.........a great collection!

    Thanks heaps.

  • 23135

  • lyrics says it all.... 'par sukhdai... sangeet mai'... Except that these guys say it with such class.

  • I'm sorry.... but the language is divine music

    and love....

  • This is pure academics rest are entertainment

  • An artist's mind is the only limitation. both these music can be made fluid n transparent by a skilled musician.

  • What do you mean by transparent structure?

    What transparent structure?

  • au contraire, both musics are the most complex and highly structured forms

the beauty is that both allow extensive elaborations and 'manodharma' within the structure...

    shanti shanti shantihi

  • waaah

  • It would be stupid to expect, when such giants perform together, for everything to happen according to the book...it is a tribute to their individual genius that they are improvising at every moment..and the same is coming out as "dissonance" at times...we should appreciate the spontaneity and musical genius of each of these legends rather than pass comments like " i have seen better performances" or "weak performance" etc.

  • Bhimsen Bajaye aaj Murlia Murali ke ang-Great............feeling of Nad-Brhama.........

  • simply gr8 , words are really doesnt matter infront of the superb joy becoz the performance doesnt need any words to describe how brillient it is

  • epic, history in the making!

  • beautiful i love pt bhimsen joshi! and dr krishna is amazing as well....yaman kalyan as well is suberb.....wish it was longer......or i could go to a live concert of both of them singing this

  • since thses two are giants of two different musical styles, its very exciting to see how they interact..

  • Undoubtedly masterly performances by both these giants of Indian Classical music, a treasure on record.

  • I just felt the both were not at their best, i have seen better performances of both than this ! pls pardon if I am wrong ! no offense meant !

  • perhaps u r right. but the magic of both singing together overtakes individual gymnastics :)

  • These great giants even in their weak performances can always be considered at their best. The TAANS are perfect, the LAYA is unmistakable - the total effect is perfect. It is most enjoyable even to see some weak performances too.

  • Could it me more wonderful music than this? Very divine, inspiring, invigorating music and wish we can save this kind of music in coming days. Jagu

  • this is so jazzy and improvised ..wow man...is this the one they did at gateway of india?

  • excellent performance! It's nice to see them enjoying the performance.

  • after listening to this one has to admit that music is indeed divine and there is nothing better than this to take one closer to the Divine........

  • How more out of the world can it get when two great musicians who have taken classical music to greater heights come together to bring us the most relaxing evening raag, filled with technicality and simplicity intertwining one another ?

  • Sudden wish to listen to kalyan for an evening, blissful, making you calm, happy, reaching nearer to the god!!

  • I advice all of you watching this video to close their eyes and listen to this music.. because there will no effect if you keep your eyes open.. dont watch video.. just listen and you will be taken to heavenly places for shoo.

  • Very good rendition. Pt. Joshi is in superb form.

  • Thank you Prax78 for sharing this rare recital

    Cheers

  • this is what it must be like in paradise..!

  • Two greatest legends one of Carnatic and one of Hindustani music singing together is a privilege and a fortune to watch. This recording should be preserved as part of Indian History.

Many many thanks to prax for posting

  • a real jewel, thanks prax 78

  • If you want bliss this will do it listen and listen often I wonder if my grandpa ( Shelley loving Nataraja Iyer would have loved this concert) Well thatha ...

  • can someone loosely translate?

  • Loosely translated the bandish means:

Today Shyam (Lord Krishna) is playing the flute

With the dexterity of His own lips

Yogis from the forest as well as wise men and commoners are mesmerized by his music..

  • thank you ive read similar lyrics in another of bhimsen's performances but it sounds so different here

  • I guess there are other lyrics in the same song. It is not same as "Shyam bajae". It start with that but changes later.

  • There is one of his CD's, its called Concert Recordings of the 60s I think. The drut portion is the bandish "Aaj muraliya shyam bajaye", but there isn't anything else. IMO, the bandish in this video is superb.

  • Bhimsen Joshi is truly amazing!

  • A veritable GEM - Thank you for posting!!!

  • nothing like seeing two great exponents of a particular field performing togather.

  • Endless Bliss!

  • WOW i don't think i have ever seen a woman play mridagam before. job well done it is refreshing to see that women are still part of the percussioning world

  • @richvan273 good on ya :)

  • These two great living legends of Hindustani and Karnataka classical music have made Purandara Daasa, the father of Karnataka classical music who also influenced Hindustani music, very popular in the modren classical music world. They have sung separately in 'classical music based' movies such as 'Sandhya raaga', 'Hamsa geethe' etc. Can any one post a video clip if Panditji and Muraliji have song Purandara Daasa song as 'jugalbandhi'. It will be great to watch it.

  • @richvan 273.... awesome ur child is lucky to listen to these stalwarts from this young age !!!

  • We are living abroad and like all Indians abroad the distance makes us clutch harder at our samskriti and culture which is why I try to give my son as much as possible .

From when he was born I used Panditji to make him sleep ,but when he was around 1 and1/2year old ,to my utter amazement he started enjoying and listening to it instead of falling asleep . Since then he is really into music .

  • b e a u t i f u l !!!!!

  • His favourite is Panditji and listens a lot to Bagyada laxmi baramma .Now that he has seen this clip he goes 'papapamamamanini' and flaps his arm about trying to imitate his 'Ajjas' ;-) The pure joy on his face is priceless,so once again our heartfelt gratitude for sharing . Too bad this is not available for purchase .

  • I love the gestures by both stalwarts, particularly that of Pandiji. It is a beautiful sight. Melodious music with elegant gestures to listen and watch. I guess once Rajaji said that one should close eyes to listen to good music. For this, one has to open both ears and eyes wide not to miss even a second. I keep watching this again and again. Wish there is also a Kannada song by both.

  • In the same concert they've sung "Hari bhajane maado" which is a kannada song

  • Wow, thanks for good news. Can some one post it or let us know where to buy. It will be so nice to hear from living kings of Karnataka and Hindustani classical music a composition in Kannada in which the South Indian classical music, Karnataka Sangeetha was founded by the Pitamaha Sri Purandara Daasaru

  • Carnatic Music is something that is melliflous to the "Carna" (ear in sanskrit)... It has nothing to do with Karnataka. However, Purandhara Dasa is one of the greatest devotional singer and widely considered as one of the originators of Carnatic Music. Please focus on the Divine Music .... all these details are trivial and secondary!

  • Amazing ,absolute magic.Even my 2 year old is transfixed by this and keeps asking for this video of two 'ajjas'. thank you very much for sharing this . Does anyone know if this concert is available for purchase? By the way Ajja means Grandfathe in Kannada

  • I have the most beautiful version of Bhagyada lakshmi baaramma from Panditji...will upload it soon ....

  • I look forward the live video of Bagyada Laxmi baramma from great Panditji.

  • What a great performance of Kings of Karnataka and Hindustani Music. Thanks to Sri Purandara Daasa who founded Karnataka Music and also influenced Hindustani Music.

  • Its Carnatic Classical not Karnataka music.

  • andarini adagandI adi modalu 'karnataka sangeetam' ametic pilisinaaru 'Carnatic music'

  • andarini adagandI adi modalu 'karnataka sangeetam' ametic pilisinaaru 'Carnatic music'

  • Pradeepsh83: Which 'carnatic'?. Is it the word originated by an invader about 300 years after Sri Purandara Daasa founded the South Indian Classical music, Karnataka Sangeeta a.k.a. Sangeetam (called after it was spread through-out South India). Or is it the word by occupiers who could not pronounce 'Karnataka Music'. First let us call by the original divine name 'Karnataka Music' then if needed use other names. You may verify with Dr. Muraligaru.

  • Please read news in Feb 10th, 2008 issue of Prajavani paper from Bengaluru about

Dr Balamurali is receiving honorary doctorate degree for Karnataka Sangeetha

    from Mysore university.

  • The two kings of Indian classical music!!!

  • I do not remember having heard one but would be delighted if Raga Hansadhwani performed by Pundit Bhimsen Joshi can be posted.

  • Both Pujya Pundit Bhimsen Joshi and Dr. Bala Krishna Murti are in their true colours. What an exciting moment to hear them sing.

  • Thanks for posting this beautiful bandish. Can you post raag Durga sung by pandit bhimsrn joshi, which was perhaps best in LP records.

  • This was a wonderful piece, like your other two pieces.Shall appreciate if you can post songs sung by Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty & Dr.Balmurali Krishna together or separately.

  • Both this and the Bhairavi you have posted are truly out of this world. Pity we do not have such concerts often these days. Please post more. And many thanks again
