  • I mean I know that Lorenzo needs alot of attention and all but it kind of seems like they kind of "gave up" their other kids in a way. Im not saying that in a mean way just kind of something I noticed through out the film. I mean the boy looks like he is in a awful lot of pain, I understand the mother wants to keep him alive but is it worth it to the boy? The pain and suffering?? idk this is really 1 of those situations that you dont know what you'd really do until your the 1in the situation.

  • @AWDESIGNS8 it looks dumb doesn't it.

  • @thefidlerontheroof i dont know what you are trying to say i just wanted to know if the little boy lived . not lorenzo i know he die just some of the other boys in the story. since it was a true story.

  • @AWDESIGNS8 you know what i mean. Don't be a smart-ass. I noticed you erased your comments which are the ones i originally replied to and which is the reason why i wrote LIKE THIS to show how retarded it is.

But to answer your question some of the boys were actors and some of them were real patients. If you look at the credits of the film you will see "Special Children". They are the ones who played the sickly scenes.

  • At 3:09, look in the middle of the third row from the back. When the woman sits down you can see me just behind the blond with the big hair. The guy in the grey suit with the slick look and Miami coke dealer pony tail is me. Enjoy the laugh. :-)

(terrible gig by the way, worst set ever to work on)

  • @dirkstorm yes, i can see you. Lol. But why do you reckon it was the worst set ever to work? What makes you say that?

  • @thefidlerontheroof It was well over 100 degrees in the set. On the days where we are at the science conference about 2/3 of the extras did not return each day.

The management was obnoxious and arrogant. Literally of the 7 films I have worked on and several commercials as well as a lifetime of tv shows here and there it was the worst treatment I had ever seen. Even the food was pathetic swill I wouldn't feed a dog.

  • @dirkstorm you were a part of this movie?

  • @thearter12 Yes I was. I am one of the parents at the conference. (+/- 3:07) I was in it while I was also working in robotics research in the Pittsburgh area. My schedule was very flexible and allowed me to do a lot of side interests and consultation contracts.

This film was without a doubt the most obnoxious experience I ever had in the industry and there have been some issues with the accuracy of their claims as well. Supposedly its not really true to the facts. I don't know.

  • ITS LIKE THIS GUY IS CHOPPING OUT IMPORTANT PARTS OF THE MOVIE ON PURPOSE D: skips 6 and 7 and now 11...

  • 4:11 We need to fund the doctors, not demonstrably effective medicine. Are these parents supposed to've already lost a kid or what? Why do they seem to push the doctor's agenda instead of want a cure?

4:52 I'm positive Lorenzo would rather the nurse she fired was him, if he's cognizant.

6:55 It reinforces the idea of our bodies as mechanical, moods independent from context, that there's sexual tension between them as they discuss their son's intelligence.

  • riot is right XD

  • lol, all the parents were like "GIVE ME THE F***ING OIL!!!" at 4:18 to 4:35

  • :o

Okay, you can thumbs down on this, I don't really care but WTF, I hate those two parents who are running the foundation and those other parents except for that one lady at 4:09. =)

    *no homo

  • @love1ification i agree with you. Lorenzo's parents were on the way to discovering a theropy for ALD and the leaders didn't want any other parents to know about it? I mean, really?

  • @Zukoluver5 duuuuuuude, i no right...i mean c'mon let Lorenzo's parents have a voice in this too. u know what i mean right?

  • I forgot the ? mark on my 5 month old statement didnt I. oops!! hehe.

  • Damn look at all those cigarettes. Well, I can understand the stress of the situation. It is quite horrible.

  • The movie depicted the father as the heavy smoker. In reality, it was the mother, she blamed herself because ALD was a sex-linked disease. Another words, it's on the X-chromosome. She died of lung cancer.

  • Although the ALD was stopped in its tracks, the damage is permanent. Without myelin, neurons will not be able to fire as fast enough in certain areas of the nervous system.

There's two phases of what the parents were able to accomplish:

I: Stop ALD from killing Lorenzo

II: Rebuild the nervous system that was damaged (i.e. myelin)

The only thing that disturbed me was plastic. BPA and phthalates will cause cancer because of bioaccumulation. It is absorbed by the body fat and will stay.

  • Bitch

  • the dad is like ahmazing!!!

  • He's getting better.

  • the real Lorenzo he's dead ..in 2008
