@fol2005 you couldnt be dumber, obviously youre a hilljack from kansas, wtf is a jayhawk? (but yeah hoosier wtf? i know) but iu has the lardest student section in the nation. ESPN documented it.
I remember "back in the day" we would come to this lobby of Assembly Hall to pick up our football and basketball tickets. Good times and more to come! GO IU!
iu bball is back!! had seats in the seventh row behind the basket, obviously one of the first to storm the court!! one of the best games in basketball history, loudest crowd in the country
@fol2005 No, they did it based on player analysis in away games over the past five years. Well the past three years Indiana has sucked, so our home court advantage hasn't been nearly as much of a factor. Now that they're back, it will be the toughest place to play in the country. I'd be surprised if we lost to anyone but Ohio State at home this year (we play OSU over Winter Break while all the students are gone).
Have you even been in AH before? The place is designed like an auditorium.
They had the acustics department at Penn State monitor each stadium. Based on the designed of the stadium and the proximity of fans to the court, Allen Fieldhouse is the loudest. I'll send you the link if you want.
AFH is about the size of Cameron Indoor but we shove about 8,000 more people in it because we are bleachers from the sideline all the way up to the ceiling. People sitting in the top row are touch the roof.
@fol2005 Sorry, I must have been reading a different article. They analyzed player performances at home games compared to away games, and based on statistics, Indiana wasn't high because they have had a horrible team. I can't imagine they'd be as loud as they normally would because of the past few years either.
So basically, either way, the tests didn't come back in Indiana's favor because of the players, not the actual building or fans.
@fol2005 GUARANTEED there has not and will not be a game louder than this one at Allen this year. I had a severe headache all night after that game, and I was seriously considering calling up my doctor to get my ears checked cause they were in serious pain.
Also, consider this: Indiana fans no longer take wins for granted as a result of the past three years. Every win this year is going to be a much bigger celebration for Hoosier fans. And everyone knows we have some of the best fans around.
@fol2005 Yeah, but consider this: KU fans are used to winning. IU fans have gotten used to losing the last three years. Now that they are back to winning, the fans are crazier than ever. Craziest fans in the nation right now. It doesn't get better than this.
@GreenDay1981 Did you by any chance watch the game? It had nothing to do with the home court. IU was ranked 7/8 in the nation and they let it get to their heads. They put on a defensive shitshow and didn't get into the game until the last two minutes when they realized they might actually lose.
@TKwarrior17 I could say the same thing about Kentucky because Kentucky didn't play all that well against you. You only won because we missed 2 free throws in the final 20 seconds that would have sealed the win.
@GreenDay1981 That's cause it was early in the season and three of your starters have never played together before. Four of IU's starters had been playing together since last year. They had fluidity and continuity of the program on their side compared to UK, which gave them a huge advantage early in the season before other squads caught up. We can look at the "what ifs," but that doesn't really matter. Would IU beat UK at this point in the season? No way. But that's college basketball.
@TKwarrior17 That "fluidity and continuity" didn't help them against the likes of Nebraska and Iowa, did it? Despite the fact that 3 of our starters had never played together before, I'd say the fact that we are 28-1, #1 in the both polls, and just clinched the SEC regular season title is pretty damn good, wouldn't you say?
Hoosier nation, Coach Crean, the upperclassmen players and everyone who has suffered through the bumps and pits of the last three years DESERVES this win. Go Hoosiers!
I was at Buffalo Wild Wings and got yelled at by the manager because i threw my chair after Watford hit the shot lmao. Totally worth it.
