this is really awesome i have watched the chase video of this soooo many times its interesting to hear the guys they picked up story!! im so sorry this happened to you but thank the storm chasers who are out there trying to learn the science of these things so we can save more lives
so much talk of falling to their knees and praying and god .... their god sent the storm in the first place right ...? The religious are always the most blind to reality
The trees look really eerie the way they are starting to grow back out but had been stripped of everything. Amazing the size of that tornado. The OKC tornado of 1999 was stronger, but this one was physically among the largest ever at 1 1/2 mile wide.
i remember seeing news coverage on the tornado. Shocking how 95% of the town dissapeared in a matter of minutes. Many basements were useless.
I also saw the Greensburg memorial last May 4th. I can tell this was a horrible experience for everyone living there. This will most likely be one of those stories passed on generation after generation.
Givin my crazy interest in severe weather, I wouldn't even want to experience a home town being nearly wiped off the map. It's nuts
Lets be real honest, I've been through hurricanes and the destruction is not similar to Greensburg where trees are stripped of their dignity and left outhere like broken skeletons. The fact any part of Greensburg survived was amazing. I don't think a hurricane can match what that tornado did in a few seconds. If it had been the daytime they would of seen it but it wasn't and this footage does not lie.
The Greensburg, Kansas tornado reached wind speeds of at least 205 MPH. 95% of the town was destroyed by the tornado. 11 people were killed, and many others injured.
I remembered when I saw a news about this. It was shocking that EF5 tornado wiped Greensburg off from the map. I prays for people who lost everything there.
I still can't believe all of its gone. Such a beautiful town. I stll haven't been back to see Grandpa's new house but really really want to get back there. I haven't seen Greensburg post tornado. I think a lot of tears will be had the day I do.
What's the name of the guy in the back seat who's telling the stories?

True, the most powerful tornado occurred on May 3, 1999. Near Oklahoma city, wind speeds were over 310mph

It's unbelievable what one act of nature can do to a town. You just have to be thankful to be alive with your friends and family.
