Ya know, I have been reading all of this bickering since Auggie was in the band. He was not the best choice to replace Sp. I think they got it right this time. I have been a fan since Infinity. I love all of the music Perry did with this band. But now we have a lead singer that CAN sing Perry's songs quite well, IMHO, PLUS put out some more ORIGINAL music. Why can't we all just kick back and enjoy what we had then and have now? These guys wont be around forever to play ya know.

I know I have commented on this video already, but every time I listen to Schon's solo in Only The Young Can Say, I get goosebumps. The guy is so awesome.

I sincerely believe Neil took a back seat to Perry for the sake of the band and fame and fortune. When Perry took his hiatus, he decided it was time to step up and move himself along with the others forward showcasing his and the other members in an awesome direction while never changing their tremendous music and style. I, personally, would like to thank him for it. I always loved and looked forward to his solos.

By the way, I love Arnel's voice and style.

My sentiments exactly. I'm glad someone like him breathe new life into my favorite band. Some are so quick to criticize him but unless you can sing and perform at the same level as AP can fronting a legendary band like Journey, you must realize that what he does is no mean feat.

SP gay powerful tenor voice. AP hunky manly energetic versatile tenor voice. Take your pick!! Both are awesome by the way. Even if they lowered the key, it still sounds great! Besides they are touring so its really hard to maintain that voice and not strain it! SP doesnt even sound the same anymore like his prime! LoL! Still Journey lives on! W/O SP!!

I prefer SP's powerful soaring passionate tenor voice, the smoother rather than harsh stabbing sound. AP really seems to be straining there, like his tongue is stuck.

@Brokered5 Nobody has ever claimed Arnel's voice is superior to SP's. But his style and humbleness, is such a gift to Perry's desire to be the only one recognized and his constant whining. They really are a band now. Not, as Perry projected, a support band to him and his ego.

@1danrobbins Arnel is an insulting "Perry sound-alike" There is nothing humble about one who copies the hardwork and style of other artists. Perry possessed strength and humility, wrote/co-wrote all the songs, a gift to Arnel writing NONE. Perry, such an effortless voice not trained to sound like others, he delivered the songs with real emotion and feeling and Journey b/c huge b/c of him. They are just a shadow of what they used to be, with Arnel seemingly their "product" with Neal's "ego."

@Brokered5 I find little there to disagree with except for Arnel being a "Perry sound-alike". I really feel Arnel's voice is distinctively his. Are there similarities, yes. But, Perry made the decision to do the original break leaving to "retreat to my own life". This is not how a member of a "group" acts. I am sorry he left also, but I am glad they have moved on and still make great music without Perry.

@1danrobbins Too bad Perry didn't make the decision "to do the original break" sooner, all those shows from 78-84, delivering in original key. The voice "is not like the fingers." They were not considerate of that and that " is not how member (s) of a 'group" should act. Hopefully, they w/b more considerate of AP. They have not moved on for their "copycat" copied "note for note" the rerecords to assure sales & the new music is a "tribute band coup" like the insulting rerecords. The End

"Still Journey lives on" with another "Steve Perry sound-alike" and SP too b/c AP has to sing the songs that SP made famous as close to the way SP sang them as possible. When AP starts just singing his own songs then I can tell you if he's awesome. I know SP is.........

It's a system of "in ear" monitoring...instead of having speakers blasting back at the band,each member can have exactly what"mix" they want to hear coming thru the ear pieces-i tried them once,but i think they take a bit of getting used to...you also have to trust the monitor engineer !!!

Have they tuned down a half step? Not being critical...many bands do it. Just curious. They didn't do this for Augeri when he was having throat issues, so it's interesting if they are doing it now. Sounds great regardless. I like Arnel and the energy he has brought to their classic sound.

Journey is my favorite band and musical inspiration.......so I can be critical......yes.....they have lowered the songs a half step.....and it is a sign of the beginning of the end of the arnel era......it's sad really.....I have liked every singer they have had for different reasons....arnel is no different..like him too....but I said it months ago...they tour too relentlessly for the vocal range required for their songs...it's abuse..this is the end result...having to cheat and change the keys

I was there at this concert. They were unbelievable. Arnel is the most entertaining performer. Best replacement for Steve Perry that they will ever find. I went to the concert on Maui and both were so spectacular it was rediculous.
