The guest said so himself, it's changing food habits. Anyone can speculate that the evil biodiesel made from CORN doubled the price of WHEAT last year, but you need hard numbers or rather listen to smart people. I've heard more and more people talk about changing eating habits. The increase in oil did come from changing transportation habits in Asia, from the bicycle to the car. Well it's not hard conclude the same could be happening from pure rice and bread to meat today.

prices of oil and Staples CANT MOVE like they have done (SO FAST so SOON)!!!

WHY use Staples when you can use Palm oil or other non Grains like Sugarcane or Methane gas from Wastes !!! Fuelcells?? so much than Corn

In the US we have more waste than any grain we could ever grow. In the city of Balitmore 60% of it energy is produced from waste. We could do this all over the country and posibly the world and kill two birds with on stone so to speak. Its clear that growing corn for fuel is having some effect on the the worlds food prices and there are alternatives that would solve two problems. But our leadership is controled by big business.

Slow-moving 'overpopulation' didn't become a critical factor in the last two years. This has arisen because of the factors cited. Overpopulation is another, albeit related, issue. This is a supply side issue, not a demand-side issue. Just like the California energy crisis in 2000: market created

There is a lot more demand for oil than there is ethanol to make a significant dent. 500,000 barrels ethanol is stuff all, in terms of oil, but significant, in terms of lost food. High cost, low benefit
