  • 8 people are listening to Arthur Lyman's Music

  • 0:02 - 0:05: Curly from the Three Stooges? "woopwoopwoopwoopwoop"

  • VIVA EXOTICA!

  • A bamboo cocktail for two and my Monkey over my shoulder

  • Yes Bashiok is to blame!

  • thumbs up if bashiok brought you here

  • This Is Amazing. And Black Eyed Peas :). Hehehehe MUHAHAHAHA!!!

  • Todo, we're not in Kansas anymore.

  • what kind of mythical place have i just stumbled upon...?

  • why cant i listen to black eyed peas AND martin denny?

  • @sirhorsechoker You can, my friend. You can.

  • If fergal Sharkey Joined them look out

  • I love this! A blast from the past..and who was the other person who did this kind of music?

  • @Joema2 i think it's les baxter. see yer man below

  • I love "exotica" music. Nothing like rolling up a nice fat one and drifting off into exotic climes with the likes of Denny, Baxter, et. al.

  • @BrownBrown90 Arthur Lyman played in a similar style !!

  • exotica rules.

  • Aloha! This is Sherron Nohea Allen, Henry is the one making all the "bird calls" and the only vocalist with the group! he toured with Marty for over 4 years. Martin Denny was one of the best :band Leaders, "boss" that he had ever worked with and for! Work or now work, he got paid $500.00 a week int he 50's! Henry played the Conga's, guitar, and bongo's, all percussions, wood blocks, etc. Can somebody contact me if you have any "Video Clips" of Marty with Henry in the group? guitarmaui@aol.com

  • paulj0557, my condolences.

  • I live 200 yards from a Walgreens...it used to be The Kahiki.

    Paul, in Columbus

  • Sandy Warner was a gorgeous model. Beautiful. Mysterious. Perfect for Martin Denny's cover art.

  • Quiet Please!! You can hear the Nay Nay!!

  • i'm always amazed by this particular piece because it is mostly percussion and he achieves so much. He is labeled as only lounge musician and that maybe true, this is pure genius.

  • Elionilton

  • Uploader, I love you whoever you are.

  • i fell in love with my sex therepst,my psyco-analist said i should go for it.. my massust gave me a buisness card for a good attorney' just in case' what the hell is a guy to do?? r.l.t.

  • I'm lost.. Is this supposed to be music you get jiggy too?

  • what is the name of this song? which album is it on?

  • fantastic arrangement!

  • Sounds like the first few notes to Pee Wee's Play House.

  • @tarbalvis Makes sense considering this track came out in the 1950's. Yeah. I can see where this "ripped off" Pee Wee's Playhouse.

    M.K.

  • @the215renaissanceman You put ripped off in quotes. I never implied it was stolen. I assumed it was sampled.

  • hmm, Not one of the women on the covers actually ARE exotic...

  • @iyouwetubeit hmmm- depends on what you mean by "exotic" - they certainly are alluring...

  • @iyouwetubeit

Oh, I don't know...it all depends upon one's point of reference.

These ladies would be considered quite exotic in Nigeria or Bolivia -- maybe even in most of China.

  • My Dad and I used to listen to Martin Denny as a child in the 50's... "Ebb Tide" is my all time favorite Denny rendition.

  • Yes, Sandra Warner appeared on Denny's covers often enough to be known as "The Exotica Girl".

  • delightful vixens

  • Hooray for the Ultra-Lounge collection for keeping this alive.

  • some delightful vixens on show and a delightful soundtrack... what's not to like?!

  • Okay FOGZAX, I'm listening to some of your other stuff and commend you for your incredible and eclectic taste in music.

  • Takes me back to my days of living in Hawaii. Great times. I miss Martin Denny, and thank him for the beautiful and enchanting music that he gave the world. Aloha oe, Martin, and RIP.

  • Black Eyed Peas is the worst music I've ever heard, this is quite nice.

  • @kotfather I wouldn't call it the worst, but certainly not original. It's easy today with all these composite pop-stars and bands to give the impression of originality. The Black Eyed Peas is one of those bands that hits the listener with something that seems new and fresh, but it's just taken from an area of music the rest haven't picked through yet to find a sound.

  • @kotfather this makes my lumps feel great :))

  • @kotfather Black eyed Peas used to be good when they first started. It all went downhill when fergie joined them.

  • @kotfather Totally agree

  • @kotfather AGREED!!!!

  • What does A Taste of Honey sound like? Is it better than Herb Alpert's version?

  • Early use of a she-male on album covers?

  • an under-appreciated genius, just like most of the other 'exotica' artists.

  • So cool.

  • Nice choice of track. I love the rustling bamboo sounds. LOL norristerse

  • is this for real? these women are scary.... yamahama

  • actually its all the same chick dumbass

  • I can't speak to DreaminofBananas "homoness" but he is correct. She's Sandy Warner and she appeared on 16 of Martin Denny's albums.

  • if you say it's the same female thats fine.... and thanks for the correction.... I just assumed "Dreaminofbananas" was gay with a name like that and therefore wasn't in a position to judge women and/or call me, a real man, a dumbass.

  • martin denny album covers are first class wank-fodder!

  • i saw amy winehouse at 0.58, then pulp fiction at 1.17 ; )

  • A bit hard to do since these photos were taken before Amy was born. Most of these are circa mid to late 50's she would have to be in her 70's now.

  • eamonosu was obviously being sarcastic smartass.

  • I love this; it's like welcoming an old friend.

  • ....in your robe.

  • ...When I was 11 years Old I had all of martin denny's music...1957...then in 1967...Went on R and R to Hawaii, saw

the Don HO show...Wished it could have

    ...been Martin Denny...Memories...Wow...

....By the way R&R from Viet Nam...

  • What was the model's name for the LP covers? I thought her first name was Sandy, I don't remember her last name.

  • Yup, Sandy Warner.

  • I remember my parents lying around listening to this in the sixties, sucking down the booze and passing out. I think I have the Denny albums now but with no way to play them.

  • My parents put this on on saturday mornings while we did our weekend chores, fixed bbq, mowed the lawn.

Sorry your folks had to pass out on ya.

  • LOL! Yes, I had exactly the same experience; joining Martin Denny's LPs were Julie London's. Hot and humid summer days in Kentucky...

  • cool!!!!!!

  • i can't imagine how this sounds in vinyl !! man i wish i could make music like this ..... just once lovely

  • oh,I REMEMBER, lol cause dad had a collection of Yma's and i played them to death! on HI-FI even,lol-

  • and Martin Denny just brought it to life for dear ole dad!

  • Super tare frate!

  • I remember this as a kid. New Age music could learn a lot from him. The music is nicely put together.

  • bando de troxa querendo fazer ogof ao onferthuy

  • hello, arthur lyman - blowing in the wind

  • What I'd REALLY like to see on Youtube is his alsome rendition of Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind" on marimbas. It's on the lp Exotica, I believe.

Somebody help me out here. I swear this cover is ... well, don't tell any rabid Bob Dylan fans but I like Martin Denny's version better than the original!

  • this music is beautiful, esquivel too

  • we need more true artists such as this. RIP Martin

  • VERY Excellent Video! Very Healthy!

  • wow I have a collection of Martins Denny's albums I didn't know that here were so many people that love his music. Does anyone know if he is till alive and does he still record?

  • According to Wikipedia, Martin Denny passed away in 2005 st the age of 93. They quote him as saying he was surprised and happy at the renewed attention his music is getting. I love his music also, it brings back many good memories for me.

  • I grew up listening to this song over and over when I was a young girl, my album is worn out and this sounds great, thanks!

  • Thank you so much for this hauntingly beautiful song. I'm such a fan of Martin Denny's music. Could you please post the song Jungle Flower? I'd love to hear that one again. Thank you and have a Happy New year! :)

  • Martin Denny!! Great work and extraordinary music. I really love it. Thanks for posting. Regards.
