@thesixtiesguy The charges vary greatly. Some are just Det cord taped to a door and others can be whole blocks of C4. FM 5-10, and most demo cards have the information necessary to get the job done the first time, and then some. P=plenty!

@elliotmotocross I really can't speak for the rest but black powder is very unstable it can be ignited from body static electricity, any sporting store that sells "black powder" has a static discharge setup before you get the powder. I think you are speaking of "smokeless powder" used in cartridges (ammunitions) it is pretty stable and even takes a second to ignite under direct flame.

Check out Lawrence Livermore's work on TATB, which has largely, if not wholly replaced RDX (from which C4 is derived) as the fast explosive component in the "lenses". TATB and Fox-7 (which see) are superior explosives. More "insensitive", too.

u can determine the explosive or type based on the color of the smoke color of blase and the force of it. in this case it appears to be petn because of the fairly slow orange blast compared to c4. The c4 is sharper and would have a thin black puff of smoke
