  • Needs more Tennant and less Elton.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY RONNIE!!

  • The Killers-Elthon John-Pet Shop Boys.

  • класс

  • класс!

  • so good

  • ha listening to this on Christmas Day 2011!

  • Thumbs up if you are still listening this song in Christmas Eve 2011 :)

  • They wrote about Joseph because Jesus is too mainstream.

  • This is song is genius and yet shitty music gets more attention than this, i can't understand why!

  • @PuppyLover1900 totally agree!!!

  • Only 268,557 views!? WHAT!

  • Its weird.. tennant kinda sounds like elton in his younger days! Haha

  • I;m so glad to say that after 6 years the Killers are still on my top 5!

  • "And the desert, it's a hell of a place to find heaven..." great lyrics!! :)

  • As a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE fan of TK, it's only this year that I've really realised how brilliant this song is and just how underrated it is (like most of The Killers' music is, unfortunately)...and also, Elton John can make any song brilliant!! :)

  • GTFO MAROON 5

you dont have moves like jagger!

    no one does!

  • hmmmm pretty good song :)

  • One form of Christmas Music I don't mind "The Killers"

  • One form of Christmas Music I don't mind the "The Killers"

  • So strange; as must have been the life. Good job.

  • Flowers is a devout Christian. He has a number of characteristics that are strikingly similar to Bono, and the band to U2. On the one hand I wonder if they just came along at the wrong time for more people not to like them. Then again, less fans around, more room for me to enjoy them!

  • is joseph played by ronnie

  • Neil Tennant's part just lit up the stage! Best part...but dun get me wrong the whole song was too siick, but i liked Tennant's part the best. 2:15-2:32

  • I think Joseph is one of the most underrated people in the Bible. It's nice for someone to write a song about him instead of Mary for once.

  • @sweettooth202 or maybe jesus .... You know , generally most christmas carols and songs are about jesus as it is the anniversary of his birth? just saying

  • @sweettooth202 doesn't matter, the Bible's fake

  • Thumbs up for 0:00-1:08

  • i hear that voice and feel such a hope...i feel like just a moment....that the world isnt so bad....then it ends and i look around me and once again feel sick and what i see....then i look at him....and know more than anything that there's someone out there who can save me.

  • vevo sucks

  • I was sad when I heard Elton johns voices in a song with Brandon.

  • brandon flowers is so......flawless.

his voice is so beautiful and im put in a trance everytime i hear him....its crazy....its so soft but so strong and manly but boyish and sweet but solemn. its a perfect blend of everythinng u want....

  • @ProfessorTogelm David?! Haha

  • What movie is this from?

  • very intriguing....

  • Can anyone tell me who's voice is at 2:17? please

    Besides that, great great song.

  • @Tying2181 sounds like Neil Tennant's voice (from the Pet Shop Boys)

  • @thedge977 It is him on there. Flowers is a big fan of The Pet Shop Boys; one of his (many) influences. They were almost all Brit musicians.

  • Comment removed

  • @Tying2181 Tennant, from The Pet Shop Boys.

  • its sad how nobody watched this beautiful video

  • I found the explanation of the song for those who were wondering:

The song speaks of Saint Joseph, the father of Jesus. Flowers, Elton and Tennant take turns in describing the difficulties that he must have felt being the father of the proclaimed savior. They also sing of the public attention Joseph would have received and, as the title of the song says, that he did a better job than they would have.

Thumbs up so everybody could see this

  • @p0mathix You have some truely incredible insight. I cant see how anyone else could possibly have figured out what you have. I'm glad you have shared your sage-like wisdom with us simple folks. I thought the song was about something completely different. Wow, just, WOW.

  • @thomasjohnkennedy Actually he copied that straight from Wikipedia.

  • @p0mathix DER

  • how i love this song!!!!!!!

  • you know the killers are amazing when they dont even mention elton john or neil tennant in the description LOL

  • A lovely song... a thoughtful and athmospheric video... but Neil provides the magic.. ;)

  • Very beautiful! This made me cry!

  • Just heard this for the first time last night... great song! Oh, and not tryng to spark a holy war or anything, just wanted to say I liked it! :*D It is Christmas for GOD's sake!!

    lol

  • Incredible song~~~

    Thanks for the Christmas share!

    2klime :)

  • Four persons have no heart

  • man.. It just left me out of words...

  • Can someone please explain this song to me? I love both Jesus and The Killers, but I don't understand what the lyrics are referring to, especially the part of 40 years lost in the wilderness. Thanks:)

  • @paalhellum It's referring to the forty years God's people spent in the desert after God rescued them from slavery in Egypt.

  • It's it's sad to see this song didn't take off or receive much attention despite the collaborations. it's very well crafted, the lyrics and vocals are outstanding. It's one of my favourite Christmas songs and definitely the Killers best.

But because it's tied to the christian faith anyone unfamiliar with the religion will be confused. Also any atheists or muslims will see this song as offensive because its about a different faith. Which is stupid and unfortunate.

  • @120Vanquish120 Dude, I'm agnostic, and I like this song.

  • @TheMightyQuinn3000 I'm not saying people won't like it, I'm saying people won't understand. I had a Catholic upbringing so I know who Joseph is and what this song refers to. If you know who joseph is then you'll also understand.

My point is everyone is offended by different religions, notably Muslims, so because this is about the Catholic faith it hasn't received any airplay or attention. which is why nobody knows about it. On the other Hand 'Don't shoot me Santa has nearly 2 million views.

  • Comment removed

  • @120Vanquish120 Way to generalize.

  • @120Vanquish120 Way to generalize, buddy. Now THAT is stupid and unfortunate.

  • @Scorpino123 Why do you think nobody has heard this song, and it's never been on the music channels, or received any radio airplay?? People are easily offended. My old church was rebuilt in a new area, but the residents complained about the crucifix on the church.

It's the world we live in and it looks like you have a problem accepting the fact people don't want to hear a song about the christian faith that's you problem. Its my opinion, can you think of another reason?? didn't think so.

  • @120Vanquish120 You should really get out more--maybe you'd realize that the world is filled with muslims and atheists who aren't "offended" by songs about christianity. I'm pretty agnostic, and I like this song, even though it refers to a religion that I don't particularly subscribe to. The reason this song isn't amazing popular is not because of some muslim/jewish/atheistic conspiracy--you do realize that nearly 80% of Americans identify themselves as christians?

  • @themshow118 Why is everyone missing the point of my comments?? I'm not explaining something again that's merely an opinion. No one mentioned a conspiracy and I'm refering to the UK, as bullshit like this has occured before. So you wouldn't understand.

And yeah I get out enough thanks - maybe you should stop making zombie videos, it's been done before.

  • I really like neil's part starting at 2:16 :).. this song is so beautiful!

  • "you're"

  • most people think its the killers honor to play with elton john, but the truth is its elton johns honor to play with the killers

  • @zipiwimbambey You're extremely fucking stupid.

  • @FordReject Ya Right

  • @zipiwimbambey

too true. bono....chris martin....neil tennant....chris lowe.....bernard sumner....bruce springsteen....they dont see just how damn lucky they are to stand beside that stunning creature and sing alongside him.

  • what album is this from?

  • @0ohlalaA it was a single

  • i've played this song so many times and i still don't know who is the other guy singing with brandon ?

  • @katylovesthekillers Elton John (feat. Neil Tennant)

  • @katylovesthekillers It's Elton John :)

  • Great song and great voices from Brandon, Elton and Neil! I believe Brandon had SO MUCH fun and felt honoured to work with the two great musicians

  • why does elton ruin it.. :(

  • @cavaliersfan6

faggots ruin everything...I can't even go to starbucks and say I want large coffee, I gotta say venti drip. My kids don't draw rainbows because they F'n took it! WTF

  • @fatnaken You're confusing hipsters with gays. Nothing wrong with "faggots", my friend. (Although it is trendy to hate hipsters...)

  • Brandon`s voice could be a child`s lullaby ^.^

  • too much elton. brandons voice is way to pretty

  • Elton makes this song. Awesome!

  • Joseph, Andy, Johnny.....they sure like names in their titles.

  • @noodle0912 Ballad of Michael Valentine

  • @noodle0912 you forgot Natalie, Jennifer, Jenny, Juliet, tons of others I can't remember :)

  • @noodle0912 Ruby, too :)

  • Killers + Neil Tennant......wow

  • @SantiLon14 Ignorance is bliss.

  • @SantiLon14 We may not know what the ultimate truth (if there is a "truth") is but we can certainly check what isn't. I never said there wasn't something else than us, which, of course, I can't prove or disprove, I'm just saying that if it does exist (I'm of the people that believe that there isn't) it didn't create religion and hasn't really talked to us. All religions are completely made up by humanity and, unlike God's existence, it can be proved. Your last few sentences didn't make sense.

  • @guardcorp Oh, i agree with you that a we need a man and a women to multiply. Do you think of God as a man or a woman?

  • @guardcorp Hmm, i find science very limited. And what can it prove when it comes to it! The only proff you get from science is, that when they find a new answer, that have to correct the old answer. Faith on the other hand, gives a hope for the future, nomatter what kind of madness that goes on in this world. You are loved!! ;)

  • @childofGod36

    ChildofGod36,you are so right.... :)

    I.m agree with you!

  • Comment removed

  • @childofGod36 "when they find a new answer, that have to correct the old answer."

Uhm, yeah, that's how it works (at least if you want to find the truth about things) and it beats the hell out of believing the same lie for centuries. Also, the church has had to correct itself several times now (remember Galileo? The Inquisition anyone?) so if "god" speaks through the church does that mean that he was wrong or that a bunch of old people are making stuff up as they go along? I thought so.

  • Comment removed

  • im not gonna get into this with you, but how is the VIRGIN mary a slut? but that ends this conversation. this world doesnt need people like you.

  • @guardcorp what are you talking about it? your gonna go to hell my friend.

  • Good song.

I love Elton's deep voice, it gives a great masculine sound in this song. ♥

  • @HawkfrostLover24

Yes, Elton John sings in this song. I'd definitely recommend listening to the whole song. If you've ever heard Elton John sing, his voice is almost unmistakenable. In fact, I believe, Elton John sings most of the song. As far as I can tell the voices go...Flowers, John, Flowers, John, Guitar Solo, John, Tennant, All 3, John, All 3, John...and they then they alternate repeating lines.

  • @HawkfrostLover24

I wrote all that and forgot to really answer your question. Eh, my bad. No, this was not on a CD...at least not on a Killer's studio album. It may be on some box set or compilation album or some holiday album, but to my knowledge it isn't on any of their studio albums.

    Hope that helps.

  • @HawkfrostLover24

No, this song is "Joseph, Better You Than Me", a single that the Killers put out in collaboration with Neil Tennant from the Pet Shop Boys and Elton John. It came out as a Christmas single in 2008.

Every Christmas the Killers put out a single, meaning they just release one song. In 2006 it was "A Great Big Sled", in 2007 it was "Don't Shoot Me Santa", in 2008 it was this, and last year it was "¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe!"

  • me muero! los amo, los amisimo! los mega amo

  • I love The Killers' music so much

  • killers are God.

  • totally

  • @fhedblues2 No, Jesus is God.

  • @moneyquickeasy No, God is God.

  • @edrftvygbdhskfksjskj True, but Jesus is God. So God is God, God is Jesus, Jesus is God.

  • @moneyquickeasy And the Holy spirit fits in there somewhere too :) because isn't God supposed to be a trinity unless I remembered wrong

  • @baybay1994 Yes indeed :)

  • @fhedblues2 your dumb

  • @ithinkurugly777 You're dumb.*

  • the other guy is the dude from pet shop boys

  • @saygoodbyetofate it is.

  • and elton John :D

  • This song is about two Josephs. One is the husband of the Virgin Mary. The other is Joseph Smith. The Temple in Salt Lake City took 40 years to build. New York was the child Joseph Smith's home when he grew up. The other parts are about LDS history but it is too involved (and controversial) to get into. Truth be told, much of the song makes no sense unless you realize it is about Joseph Smith, primarily.

  • I would never have picked up that subtext -- the New York reference went over my head. Any chance that Sir Elton or Neil Tennant have a clue that they're singing LDS theology?

  • My best guess is that they are both close enough to Brandon Flowers to know the subtext of the song. Most likely they are fascinated by it, at least a little bit. Then again Star Wars was produced by the Mormon Gary Kurtz and most people hardly notice the references to The Book Of Mormon and LDS origins that proliferate in the first two episodes of that series and half of the third. I doubt the intentions of the lyrics of this song will change its continued acceptance, one way or the other.

  • I liked the idea of the song focusing on a figure in the Christmas story that's so often ignored as irrelevant, and the insight that they give into him as a human being rather than just a character in a book. That being said, it really doesn't go anywhere from there. Come on, guys! We know you can do better than this!! Remix time!

  • No.

  • get a lfe

  • is it elton john? :S x

  • absolutely fantastic track! strong voice by elton! luv it.

  • I love this song, it is perfect.

  • Too much Elton... :P

  • @littlepaasan TOO MUCH ELTON? whaat lol....I'm sure Brandon didn't mind at all :P

  • Joseph was long overdue for a song.

  • Incredible

  • the best killers song

  • i can hear 2 other voices besides flowers', anyone know who they are?

  • Elton John? And the other the singer of a well known 90ies band, forgot the name

  • Neil Tennent. Part of The Pet Shop Boys duo.

  • Elton John and Neil Tennant

  • Pet Shop Boys singer

  • I love this song, it salutes the unsung hero of christmas (kind of)

The best of the 3 killers' christmas songs, i just wish more people new about it

  • There are actually 4 now!

And yes, this song is beautiful.

  • Oh, tell me which they are! I only know two of them. Please :D

  • Surely!

    We have:

    1. A Great Big Sled

    2. Don't Shoot me Santa

    3. Joseph, Better You Than Me

    4. Happy Birthday Guadalupe! (came out December 1st this year)

    Enjoy!

  • ye i just heard it after posting the comment

  • Yeah, I guess it's not.

Ah well. I still really enjoy it.

They are all for charity after all!

Best band ever in my opinion. Let's hope they keep it up! (they will)

  • Thank you soooo much! (also for ordering them :D)
