lol. I hadn't listened to that one in a while, but yeah.. it might be my favorite, if Ray was on vocals instead of Rick. The instrumental bits were amazing.. as usual.
Not trying to say that Rick sucks or anything... just that, if the album's production hadn't muffled out his voice half of the time, I'd probably have a higher opinion of him.
I have to say that this band is not your typical sounding prog band.....there is something different about them. I cant put my finger on it....but they sound really good.
I really like this band so far, but I would argue on their originality; a lot of their riffs seem to remind me of DT, and I RARELY say that about a band.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that they're trying to COPY DT or anything; just that there are a lot of more "different" sounding bands out there. From what I've heard, these guys would be my DEFINITION of TYPICAL progressive metal.
One word 'AWESOME' I am a huge Fates fan.. they are my favorite! Since Fates Warning is done with new work (as it seems) Redemption is filling my passion. REDEMPTION & FATES RULE FOREVER!!
only reason is becuase overseas in a country like Germany people have more open minds about music. It took me 6 months of digging to find a copy of The End is Begun by Three...Its frustrating here in the states...my countrymen just love shit metal music, only the shit rises to the top...
Does anybody know where I can find Redemption/Fates Warning albums? I definitely want to get The Fullness of Time and The Origin of Ruins, but none of the record stores seems to have them.
Try Amazon, it ´s strange, but in Germany, there are no problems getting all of them. The Fullness of Time is the album I prefer, definitely recommended.
Ray Alder is the man and sounds really good on this studio recording. But I saw them live with Dream Theater and watching other recent live Redemption and Fates Warning songs, I have to say his once godlike voice is going downhill. He sounding flat now and has completely changed the keys on Eleventh Hour of Fates Warning. Twenty years of the road has taken a toll and killed his high range. Ten years ago I saw him live in San Antonio and sounding incredible.
hate to burst your bubble but i believe mr. jazzdog2 said that "Ruddess makes any band 200% better." he wasn't saying that all of the talent comes from jordan, he was just saying that ruddess is awesome.
Um... die? Hah, Ray Alder sounds a helluva lot better than LaBrie any day. And I actually like LaBrie's voice, too... though it has gone wayyyy downhill recently.
Just listen to Fall on You by Redemption, and then listen to... I dunno, Pull Me Under by Dream Theater, and if it isn't blindingly obvious who the better vocalist is... well... sorry.
P.S. - I'm not really hoping for an intelligent response, by the way. Feel free to surprise me.
I really can but agree. It's just his voice get's a bit repeating after a while on this album, but I have no problem with that listening to Awake or something. I wonder how DT with Alder would be..
No I don't think Adler would work for DT Mike Portnoy is perfect for them and Chris is perfect for LOG, both bands would be ruined if they switched. (this is just my personal view).
Ya sorry you're right I thought you were talking about the drummer Chris Adler from Lamb Of God which has nothing to do with this video. I was completely off
well i have a feeling these guys are going to grow really popular really fast. they are very succesful and if they keep touring with dream theater they are probably going to get more fans.
making it popular will only bring demise to the band. that is the core of metal bands. true to the fans. no metallica bullshit. I like redemption, they are similar to Shadow Gallery.
by the way I love ur channel Phoenix57 exellent music :)
Wrong! The reason we see so many bands turn to playing crap instead of music is that, well, crap is more popular than good music and hence makes more money. If good bands were more popular this would mean less of an incentive for others to play crap. In other words, if bands like DT and PoS were more popular than Evanescence, Linkin Park, etc. other bands would try more to sound like them, and try less to sound like Evanescence. IMO that would be a good thing.

I love this album. technically it'e, in my opinion, their best one. and this song totally rules.
I can't see why their last album got so many thumbs up. technically and vocally it isn't a great deal and it only has a copule of good gigs.
But still, an awesome band

That singer is Ray Alder, also of Fates Warning....you know, one of the first prog metal bands out there, alot like DT.

Yeah, that's true.. Ray's voice kind of wears at me after listening to Origins and TFoT a million times.
LaBrie is a different story, for the most part. It's a shame he got that food poisoning when he went to Cuba...
cotton3434 2 years ago
cameot file ur retarded dream theater n labries voice are incomparable stupid SHIT
this band has DT influence obviously....
raff2112 4 years ago
I really love redemptions melody's over dream theater's. DT most of the time has no melody in there songs ,or its to hard to recognize.

well i like both, Redemption and dream theater kinda have different styles just in my opinion

true about vocals but I still think Jordan Ruddess makes any band 200% better

yep, jordan rudess, john petrucci, john myung, and mike protnoy, even without james they make really cool songs

@cometolife We should both email redemption's singer and tell him he should work with dream theater and their new drummer.
