  • This 1:42. Second segment is the best of all time. Period!!!!

  • Ⓥ !

  • I hope people do realize we're celebrating the 5th of november not because of a revolution of the people against their government, but because we managed to stop a terrorist from destroying one.

Guy Fawkes Day celebrates the day the government STOPPED a terrorist from blowing up parliament.

The only reason it actually seems appropriate to support V in V for Vendetta is because by then the goverment has been turned into a fascist regime practically forcing the people to turn against their peers

  • @Tarantula33222 Guy Fawkes was involved in an conspiracy to restore the Church to power in Protestant England. In a way, Guy Fawkes Day does support rebellion in that the Anglican church was rebelling against the Catholic one, and when they caught Fawkes they maintained their sovereignty.

  • just a hunch but i think he likes words with v

  • hmm I am trying to act how V but its so hard :/ I need practice :D

  • Damn,, he should do my writing homework.

  • I don't even understand half the words he said, but it sounded cool

  • Best movie of all time. And this short monologue landed me a part in my school's drama competition team. ;) Thanks V ;D

  • A.c.t.i.n.g

  • VAGINA !!!

  • And I thought I could speak English....

  • @VelvetNyght same here

  • ah! so many V's!

  • Evey; "You could of just said V."

  • Thumbs up if you had an orgasm at the end.

  • I Like the use of all the V words xD

  • Most of these V-words are in Latin? I don't know that's why I am asking...

  • One Solution...

    REVOLUTION!

  • Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. Too cool for you to handle.

  • "Are you like a crazy person?"

"I am quite sure they will say so"

  • @stephenr884 nooooo i wanted to use this quote my self :P well thumbs up anyway !!

  • "I'm Evey."

"Oh, my bad, I was expecting a Vaporeon."

  • One of my favorite scenes in a movie.

  • do i need to have sex with a dictionary to know all those words? lolz

  • I liked the part where he said the big words that start with v

  • Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

  • "Vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition"

That's a tongue twister if ever I heard one.

  • I bet whoever wrote this scene had a lot of fun having V say all these words that start with the letter "V."

  • Holly alliteration, Batman.

  • I just did this today, for my monologue, and I barely got it, haha.

  • I always watch this movie repeatedly in the month of November.

  • Comment removed

  • I still can't get over on how cute V is when he's introducing himself LOLOL

  • MOTHERFUCKING VALLITERATION

  • @QuaDMasterZ No. He calls himself V because when he was in the detention/testing facility, he was kept in cell V (5).

  • @SuperMrFrodo i wouldnt know i have never seen it, never got around to watching the matrix

  • Is he called V becuz he wuzed words startin wit V lije 100 times

  • @BadAssTorrEnt

    :OOOOOOOOO

i could never spell any of those words right

  • @SuperMrFrodo hugo weaving, he was in the matrix

  • @SuperMrFrodo yes, thats one of the reasons, also because he seeks revenge, vengence, "a vendetta"

  • @SuperMrFrodo isn't that the reason ?

  • Can explain to me what V means when he say Evey ? EV.. of course you are..

  • @sxystar41 In Latin, Evey's phonetic name means "exit V". V acknowledges this, knowing that this event has begun a chain-reaction of events which will end in his end, or "exit".

  • @SaintsAlex2000 Thanks alot...greatly appreciative.... I was trying to figure that one out all day !

  • @sxystar41 Evey is a Hebrew name meaning 'life' which makes all the sense in the world considering her role. She is Creation where V is Destruction -- he's found the missing half of Anarchy, as it is both Creator and Destroyer.

  • i can't believe i forgot to celebrate 5th of november...

    shame on me...

  • They should show this clip to a ESL class....and you should see the look on their faces lol

  • thumbs up is this is the best line ever

  • I learned this off and when I get a free in school I just write it out until the class ends :P

  • he is a boss

    thats all

  • Vadass

  • thumbs up if you are watching V for Vendetta today, 5th November....

  • wow, i just realized today is november 5th :D

  • Remember, remember the 5th of November.

  • Happy NoⓋember 5th, Guys! reⓋolution!

  • this was really a great movie a new classic

  • @ishdaisymoo....I understand and concur.

  • No one will ever understand my sheer admiration towards this film...

  • Absolutely Vaudvillian \m/

  • hes a badass

  • Anyone but me turned on the captions??

  • I can recite this entire scene...

  • Frissioned

  • Except V doesn't actually mean the letter V... it means something else, but I won't ruin the surprise.

  • im trying to remember that for a bet ,and when im watching this movie with my friends i could scare the crap out of them! :D this is the only part of the movie i cant quote YET!

  • my mom will give me 100 dollars to memorise this

  • sorry i'm dumb as hell... what was that E-V part was supposed to mean? xD

  • @TehSoulZero His name is V, haha, so when he said that, he's emphasizing that her name makes her similar to him in a way. You're not dumb - I didn't get it when I first watched it either. XD

  • @StrawberrySpiderMilk Oh thanks :D

  • @StrawberrySpiderMilk his name is not really v if you read the comic novels he says when introducing himself i don't have a name but you may call me v.. and from what i read he said it as e-v because it means something like exit v but i'm not sure about that.. don't want to make it sound like i'm trying to teach you something just thought somebody will find this interesting..

  • @TehSoulZero I have E as the fifth letter of the alphabet (therefore roman numeral V) and the "y" in evey is also the 25th letter of the alphabet (5 squared)... but now we are just getting ridiculous.

  • @letmecomment That's not ridiculous at all.. that makes total sence :) thanks btw

  • the best monologue ever

  • All he had to say his name was V :(

  • I just wasted 20 minutes finding out how "sobriquet" was spelled, so I can decode what it meant. LOL

The spelling is a villainous vexation, spelled that way to drain sand from the hourglass of my life. Very pretty sounding and has just been added to my horde of classy words.

  • Some pure grammatical class within the script combined with Hugo Weaving's outstanding delivery of it.

    Legend.

  • I've noticed that natalie portman has a bad habit of becoming a character in movies that runs into the most random people. for example, she runs into thor in thor, runs into v in v for vandetta, runs into mila kunis in black swan. lol she should just stay at home XD

  • @ShiningTears648 Oh yeah..you forgot to mention that she runs into Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode 1 : The Phantom Menace. If it weren't for her.. Anakin would have never met Emperor Palpatine, who turns Anakin to the dark side to become Darth Vader and for the fall of the Old Republic.

  • @sxystar41 oh..well I'm not really a star wars fan so I don't know much about that XD

  • I'm performing this for my first Forensics Dramatic Competition :) I have two weeks to memorize this! :D It's gonna be hard, but EPIC!

  • "V" is the roman numeral for 5

E is the 5th letter of the alphabet.

V is the 5th from last letter in the alphabet.

  • @Drizzom *mind=blown*

  • Seriously! Who disliked this?! What's wrong with you people? I'm assuming 54 ppl pressed the wrong button...

  • How in the hell did Hugo Weaving memorize these lines? His recital of them was impeccable.

  • Are you like a crazyperson ? :---D

  • every time i see this video it makes me think im dumb i cant understand half the words he says but its still awsome! XD

  • I memorised this speech a while ago. It's been a year since I've said it out loud, and I managed to say it perfectly last night, on my first try.

Once you memorise this, it is almost impossible to forget it.

  • Egad! A festival of grotesques, enveloped in Faustian gloom: every foul gargoyle ever forsworn by God extinguishing the flames of goodness, eviscerating the family and garotting the everyman! Fortunately, gallantry endures; fighting gladly and eternally against this foe most grim to ensure that our freedom gains the entirety of its former glory. But else this filibuster grow excessively full or gross, let me simply add that it's my very good honour to meet you and you may call me Epic Fail Guy.

  • @currantbun2166 Awesome! :P

  • @currantbun2166 Are you like a crazy person? XD

*tries to say it as well but fails horribly*

    balls

  • 0:10 is very cute :P

  • He say's a lot of V's

  • He would be a rapper in this society

  • @Acekaosiss no rapper commands even 1% of V's vocabulary....not to mention his theatrical mannerisms

  • Vagina, vulva

  • my left ear feels lonely

  • Vagina

  • I love this speech so much, I have it memorized; forever ingrained in my head. <3

  • to many V's in one speech

  • So that's basically Stephen Fry in a mask

  • This is one of the best damn movie segments I've ever seen.

  • Hugo Weaving deserved an oscar just for this speech.

  • V needs to teach vocabulary in my english class

  • I used this for an English class dramatic reading.

I'm pretty sure the applause I received, far surpassed that of my contenders.

  • hey is good, but what we need is the Boondock Saints.

  • Iv'e memorized this and say it EVERY time I Go for a job interview....

    Been unemployed for 5 years...

  • The awkward moment when you know what every single word means here

  • @oblarghhhhvious Not the point. The ability to apply them at once is the challenge.

  • @E3Daw more like he should have his own video game.

  • Ubisoft need to put V in a Assassin Creed game. He would be a fucking awesome character!!!!!!!

  • Here is what he said "Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violent vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance, a vendetta,

  • @4everTEAMJAKEWARD

    WHAT!?

    XP

  • @KonKaji i didnt finish the speech but i memorized the whole thing

  • how many vs has he said can u count it?

  • I absolutely love this scene! One of my favourite scenes EVER! That is how the English language should be spoken. V is awesome!!

  • Are you like a crazy person ??!!

    love it <3

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

    its vouchsafing not safevouching

IVE BEEN SAYING SAFEVOUCHING FOR LIKE 4 MONTHS

  • He would make such a great Skulduggery Pleasant =D

  • Sheer win.

  • I wonder how many takes Weaving did in order to do this without screwing up. XD

  • @OwlEye2010 I believe it to be between 1... or 12 and 7. No more no less. This particular act was dividided up remember? and I don't mean the date.

  • @OwlEye2010 I see your point, but since his lips are not showed he merely needed to move as he was supposed to then record the voice and sound afterwards and add it to the video. But yeah, it sure is a very impressing vocal achievement.

  • @OwlEye2010 even I would be tongue-tied halfway there

  • @OwlEye2010 Purefroy might have done it, I think he was dubbed by Weaving in a few scenes

  • @OwlEye2010 He probably only did a few and then added a voice over later, like Darth Vader, heck, they probably did the whole movie like that xP

  • @hardassteel

    stupid comment from stupid moron.

  • And now for the rest of the alphabet. GO!

  • vichyssoise: A soup made with potatoes, leeks, and cream and typically served chilled

anyone want to explain how that ties in with anything? xD

  • @liutiancaii "very this vicious soup of verbiage veers is most verbose" it makes perfect sense

  • LOL When I first watched this in cinema there was a puzzled silence at the end of V's speech, then some guy at the back of theatre just shouted out, "Was all of that actually English??" and the whole place cracked up. Honestly, it wasn't until I'd watched it several times on DVD that I finally understood what V said.

  • @EnigmaDrath you must like in virginia or something

  • @Dbelenit

In The Netherlands, actually. But way to put down your fellow countrymen XD

  • @EnigmaDrath i dont really care; you are just as dumb as the people down in virginia, as professed by your belief that vendetta was a dumb movie

  • @Dbelenit

Meanwhile, goats are parading across your bridge, unchecked ...

V for Vendetta is NOT a dumb movie. I never said it was a dumb movie. I don't think it's as great as the original graphic novel, but I still love it. Stop being such a tit.

Now run along and eat a goat.

  • Gotta agree with Vagabond820: must be a bitch playing Scrabble against V. Dude could probably make a ten letter word out of eight tiles, all consisting of consonants. He's THAT good XD

  • the whole movie was gay, 1984 way better !

  • Someone is gonna win at Scrabble.

  • @Vagabond820 there not that many v in scarable my friend

  • so... many...Vs

  • What a wonderful film, and this is complimented this section When I see it makes me feel a strange sense of power and freedom as well as purity of heart and hatred of some of the profile officials I hope you like my comment

  • the movie was alright

  • Evey: "Are you like a crazy person?"

V: "Yupperooh, that pretty much sums it up"

  • Comment removed

  • So like, I haven't seen this movie yet. Anyone know where I can find it online without downloading?

  • @metalfacerocker666 Have you tried google?

  • @ErGravit1 All those links and stuff... yea. D:

  • @4nything Excellent!

  • The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

  • English Muthafcuka!!! Do you speak it!!??

  • How about E-V

Fifth letter and V - Roman numeral 5

  • Comment removed

  • i never knew there were so many words that begin with v

  • Webster's V section just got raped.

  • He used pretty much every word that starts with "V" :P

  • @gonn3liito No shit, Sherlock.

  • 0:47 However, this Valorous Visitation

of a bygone Vexation stands Vivified...

...and has Vowed to Vanquish these Venal

    and Virulent Vermin Vanguarding Vice...

    ...and Vouchsafing the Violently Vicious

and Voracious Violation of Volition. 1:05

  • this is quite an epic paradox he creates. :)

  • This is slightly addictive ._.

  • man i wish i had a better vocabulaty lol

  • good job he had a mask on for this scene, and indeed all film. apparently this speech was so complex it was recorded seperately and overlaid

  • @gagatep450 is English your second language or are you rearded?
