  • u guys are awesome! Great teachers!

  • i wish you guys would do a seminar at leon jiu jitsu./:

  • subed

  • are they brothers or cousins?

  • I like it how people mention MMA like it's a completely different art on it's own.

  • These guys are great teachers.

  • I bet when they roll no1 ever gets submitted. it just goes on forever.

  • Awesome! I really enjoy watching these guys. Great technic and advise. Where is this Gracie Academy located?

  • this guys would not last against some one who is an expert in shotokan karate and muay tai or in a real street fight with 4 people against one jiu jitsu is really good against one opponent or another jiu jitsu fighter wortless and weak in a real street fight all of the gracies have gotten beat by real mma fighters matt hughes kicks ass

  • @luizinho81 jiu jitsu rules bitch thats why everyone in mma tries to learn it because withouth it ur fucked its all about jiu jitsu fuck matt hughes hes stupid george beat his ass

  • @cristianoalejandro1 It's not just all about Jiu Jitsu. It's all about being a complete Mixed Martial Artist with both a ground game and a stand up game. In the same way that you'll find yourself in trouble in MMA without a ground or Jiu Jitsu game, you also won't get very far with Just Jiu Jitsu in MMA today, Just ask Royce Gracie.

  • @kanguesso well yeah thats true you have to be well rounded with the top fighters now but jiu jitsu i think is is the most importan fighters like damian who submit great wrestlers like chael thats big even tho being a better fighter in all areas is really important gsp is the example of a man who puts it all together hes a beast man

  • @cristianoalejandro1 BJJ is just as important as the other aspects of MMA, no more, no less. Maia did well against some of the top wrestling guys but look at what happened to him when he faced Marquardt and Silva? He got knocked out by Marquardt and Silva toyed with him like a little boy. He couldn't even take Silva down even with all the BJJ he knows. That goes to show that BJJ alone won't get you far.

  • @kanguesso did you not know silvia is a black belt bjj aswell .lol

  • @roadyx Who the hell is Silvia?

  • @kanguesso BJJ Won't get you far? Maia made it to a title fight - i'd say that's pretty far.

  • @SethDMcWilliams I meant that BJJ ALONE won't get you far in today's MMA. Yes Maia made it to the Tittle fight, and did you see what happened to him? He was embarrassed. He couldn't bring the fight to the ground where he could be most affective because his takedown sucks.

  • @kanguesso Takedowns are also part of Jiu Jitsu. So you're saying that actually BJJ "ALONE" can get one very far, and then once one makes it to a title fight, like Maia did, one just needs to improve his takedown aspect of BJJ in order to dominate completely?

  • @SethDMcWilliams You misunderstand, My point was that Maia is an elite BJJ practitioner who was pretty much horrible at everything else and although his BJJ got him to a tittle fight, it wasn't good enough to win him the tittle against the elite of the elite in Anderson Silva, Someone who stuffed Maia's horrible takedown attempts and completely exposed his lack of "well roundedness" if you will. The key is to be so well rounded that you don't have to rely on anyone SINGLE discipline.

  • @kanguesso From my perspective Anderson is on a whole different level than the most guys.

Und on the way to Anderson. Maia beat a lot of wel rounded MMA players.

So being really good in one discipline might noth be that bad.

However i think you should have the skills to noth geth beat up in the stadiums where you are noth so well.

  • @cristianoalejandro1 George beat Matt, Matt beat Royce.. Hmmmmmmmmmm

  • @luizinho81 it works pretty well in a street fight, how is breaking someones arm not useful?

  • You guys put the "art" in Martial Arts. It's awe-inspiring.

  • Great strategy!!

At about 4:16 Coach Rener says don't cross your feet on the inside, I confess I use to do this allot to beak the grip of a strong grappler.

Why is it bad, my guess is it helps your opponent escape?

  • why don't you cross your feet if the arm is out? he never said why.

  • then most people cross their feet, their knees spread out and it ruins the technique.

pinching your knees together, and curling your heels to your butt are the most important techniques people make sloppy.

you see people cross their feet on bottom (from guard) when they extend because it thrusts the hips into the armlock.

  • @gavin32

actually crossing your feet with the armbar from the guard is a bad idea.

you can cross your feet when you armbar from the mount , but make sure you keep your knees tight together.

  • @themasterplan23

I don't think you read my reply.

You can be successful doing it both ways, if you're doing it right. The problem is when most people cross their feet, their knees go out, and get lose, and this space will lose them their submission. Yes, if you keep your knees tight, you can cross from mount and still get it, but again, most people make this mistake and get lose.

When in guard, crossing the feet is not the first option, but it's a counter to being stacked. Try it out.

  • lol when I was at the academy in 93 they showed the stupid one where you spin into it placing both hands on chest and spinning. This is much much better then anything I have ever seeing out the the academy arm bar wise.

  • I learned four major technical things from this video and one strategic insight. Great vids, I hope you guys keep them coming.

  • Armlocks (armbars) are my best attack... It's wonderful to know those controls. A important thing that i usually say to may mates is that if you get angry, or anxious about quitting from armlock, you're screwed, so be patient everytime, in every movement!

  • @ramonsilva1 It should be everyone's best attack & most frequent. It's the most fundamental to attacking limbs in BJJ or MAA sports.

  • i love it, it's like playing chess

  • I love the fact that they teach together. Very few co-taught classes run as smoothly as their classes do. I commend you guys for working so well together.

  • Man this is good stuff. My big problem is I get to the position, am pretty tight, but get too impatient and focus solely on the arm. Basic jiu-jitsu = high percentage jiu-jitsu.

  • Thank you.

  • but what if opponent is much stronger ? ok, all his escape attempts were controlled, but I'm still trapped with armlock which I can't finish because guy has steel grip.

  • use BJJ

  • what kind of grips is he using?

if he s just grabbing the wrists its simple

the hardest grip to break is when he graps both his biceps

  • I think this armlock control concept would work either way. I say this because if he grabs both biceps there's no danger of him popping up rolling and escaping cause if you think about it, a lot of the armlock escapes rely on that free hand and if the person grabs the biceps that hand is stuck holding onto the bicep.

So you could just keep him controlled and wait out anyways, he won't be going anywhere by grabbing the biceps, so you don't need to try with all your might to get him.

  • make him waste energy. even a hint of small pulling from your part will make him grip with all his might. if you use all your strength to pull on his arm, then you'll only waste energy along with him and if he's more athletic he'll beat you. trick him and eventually his grip will fatigue and then you can go for the kill when he's most susceptible

  • push your elbow to his ribs.

  • how many stripes does he have already? they have more stripes or the same as Renzo and Royler?? weird

  • Another great vid. from Gracie Insider. Thank you. Question from a novice. Can't your opponent (street) bites your leg? Is so, how do you prevent or deter this?

  • Use your heel to bash the fuckers teeth in!!! That's what I would do if it happened to me. Or sit up and dig you thumb into his eye, then go to the hospital and get your leg taken care of.

  • It takes .5 seconds to break somones arm form this position (Armbar) or ArmLock. Do you think I am going to stop cause of a Bite? No. Gracie Jiu jitsu isnt that easy to get around

  • Those black shirts are badass

  • @Vash1202 since when are simple one coloured shirts badass??

  • All your vids are great, but this one in particular has helped me immensely.

  • One question please....why should we not cross the legs when the legs are over the opponents elbow or shoulder? Just asking....Thanks...

  • it decreases your level of control, plus the guy can just push your crossed feet over his head and get out, while being under the arm the arm crossed your shoulder is totally controlled.

  • Also, you can just push the crossed feet up and stack it over his head as you get up....try it ^_^

  • ThanX people!!!!!

  • The best thing about this video is that you also learn how many ways to escape from an armlock that's poorly executed on you ^_^

  • The bit at the end is so true, when you're in a hold thats not even painful, you tapout just because escape ain't gonna happen.

  • I practised it with my brother and I broke his arm.

  • LOL

  • well dont guys..

    brilliant,

all your videos are perfect,me and my friends practice with them back over here in the UK :D

  • Wish I lived next to your academy! I would love to join up! Well, at least I have Gracie Barra Orlando :)

  • I think there's also a Gracie Academy there headed by the Valhente brothers

  • yeah, it's in Florida.

  • Thanks for the Videos Guys, you are awesome! This is a supplement to my training with Gracie Barra Orlando.

  • "... You will Beleive..." AWESOME!

  • "DEMORALIZED! They don't wanna play anymore." XD

  • man these guys show all the "secrets"!

  • Awesome video. There's so much stuff in here, I'll never learn from just watching it a few times. Will have to analyze and try these tips and techniques out one by one.

  • The 2 of you do a great job of breaking down the technique into simple steps and explaining the "whys" of positioning the hands, arms, and legs. You explain what NOT to do to make a technique successful.

The 2 of you don't compete to see who can do a better job explaining like I see on other mma videos on the web. You add to the other person's explanation to put it all together. Don't stop making these videos!

  • I was wondering why it took near 7min to teach control. This is appreciated.

  • They give you all the little details that you need to truly understand the technique. Ya douche

  • details details details !!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is a great video on details. Practice 1 million times really slow with their guidance and you will be able to do this technique in auto pilot :)

  • Gleng-gleng =)

  • Great explanations! War Gracie...

  • Great Details! Nice Job of teaching the techniques guys! Much respect

  • nice

  • Nice, the real deal Gracie jiujitsu.

  • this happens alot in mma where a guy gets out of a arm bar if they dont know how to defend it. this is a good thing to learn.

  • That's awesome cause I would get into that position against like 300 pound guys and they would be really strong in resisting the armbar and scramble out. Thanks guys

  • great video

  • awesome..videos guys!

  • demoralize them i like that

  • lol u can go down to get armlock by Ryron to believe it, ehh no thx i belueve it alrdi

  • GSP is waiting Rener...

  • ... yah ok.

  • Absolutely fantastic video. You guys are superb instructors. I really enjoy watching! Thanks Guys.
