I love this song, it used to get me into it all the time. Yes! there are many more Funk songs l like eg I am your Captain, etc etc etc. But this one, helped me learn to hold the whole chord and slide it up and down the keyboard just as much as I liked apart from of course being able to sneak in a couple of the cyclic Townshend power chord into it, making it a great stage song!

Well I don't think they got the press like Led Zeppelin did (which by the way this Heartbreaker is way better than Zep's Heartbreaker). Nowadays Zep is legendary while GFR is remembered only by loyal fans. GFR should have had a similar status and critical notice beyond We're an American band, but you ask the average classic rock listener and the aforementioned song is the only thing they associate with GFR. So lest appreciated of the biggies is accurate.

Your point is valid, but the record for "fastest sellout of tickets" needs to be put in context. First, the sellout was a lot smaller as the actual attendance record was not even close to being matched (only broken by Zep in 73' when GFR was in decline). Second, the mechanism used for selling tickets had drastically changed from 65 to 71. Also in 65 it had never been done before, by 71 it was common place. Good achievement, but GFR had flash in the pan success mostly domestic.

Was stationed in Bad Kreuznach Germany(1971) and they loaded up a deuce and a half with anyone wanting to go see Grand Funk. I hopped in the back and it seemed like we rode for hours to a destination I dont know still today??Most of us was already half drunk and high before and after but I remember the drummer doing a solo that went like a old train engine starting up going faster and faster for a long time.
