  • I love this song, it used to get me into it all the time. Yes! there are many more Funk songs l like eg I am your Captain, etc etc etc. But this one, helped me learn to hold the whole chord and slide it up and down the keyboard just as much as I liked apart from of course being able to sneak in a couple of the cyclic Townshend power chord into it, making it a great stage song!

  • Great!!!!!!!

  • How many Artist today can hope that their music will kick ass like this 40 YEARS LATER None! Rock on Mark your the greatest.

  • @ibewillin man you are so...............................right this band kiss ass rock on mark, this group is the heart of rock n roll i love em.

  • Well...what can I say but 1974 was a good year for Grand Funk Railroad and the year I graduated from high school. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

This is a guitar lovers band.

    Mark plays a mean ax.

This is a bass lovers band.

Mel is in a league all by himself.

I guess there's something for everybody with Grand Funk. One of my favorite bands for about 40 years now. This stuff doesn't grow old; timeless really.

  • My favorite GF tune of all time cuz it reminds me of one of my ex-skanks back in the day.

  • I saw Mark, Don & Mel, w/ 2 others play in New Orleans last night. 10-7-11. It brought back MY youth and all of the other old farts like me that ROCKED once upon a time.

  • Love these guys! Another great band from Michigan!

  • Day's Gone By :) QC

It will never happen again !

  • @peacemanken

yeah! i remember! it was suddenly, as your mother made a meet and greet with cookies for all of our friends

  • @peacemanken coolMan.... would LOVE to 'here' that Tale somehow... Though their Vibe is obviously calmPLETELY DIfferent... Mark and Alvin Lee, whom is also ONE of my FAVORites, have a similar Stage Presence to me... flightning1@gmail.com

  • I was at the Shea Stadium concert. Oh what a night. They really were the least appreciated band and yet even STILL managed to be HUGE.

  • @catmandave52 Least appreciated? They were the 2nd band to ever sell out Shea Stadium!

  • @MrHeitz17

Well I don't think they got the press like Led Zeppelin did (which by the way this Heartbreaker is way better than Zep's Heartbreaker). Nowadays Zep is legendary while GFR is remembered only by loyal fans. GFR should have had a similar status and critical notice beyond We're an American band, but you ask the average classic rock listener and the aforementioned song is the only thing they associate with GFR. So lest appreciated of the biggies is accurate.

  • @rufus566 You present that point very well, so I'll agree with you there... Although I just really want to point out that they even beat the Beatle's record by selling out Shea Stadium in only 72 hours...

  • @MrHeitz17

Your point is valid, but the record for "fastest sellout of tickets" needs to be put in context. First, the sellout was a lot smaller as the actual attendance record was not even close to being matched (only broken by Zep in 73' when GFR was in decline). Second, the mechanism used for selling tickets had drastically changed from 65 to 71. Also in 65 it had never been done before, by 71 it was common place. Good achievement, but GFR had flash in the pan success mostly domestic.

  • @MrHeitz17 It took the Beatles 6 weeks, It took GRAND FUNK Three Days to sell out Shea !!! FUCK the hall of fame !!!

  • coco

  • @catmandave52 i envy u. Would of loved to have been there. The real start of the concert era

  • temazo!!!!!!

  • 38 people will have to live with a heartbreak forever!!!

  • Hmmm. Remember that part of School of Rock with the band contest?

  • esta cancion la escuchaba en los 70s del siglo pasado ,cuando yo era joven y me hera el rey del mundo

  • well!

    ripp on ripper

  • well!

  • I feel like this song reminds me of Pinball Wizard in terms of the chords of its verses. Yet, this is much different by the end.

  • No band as grand funk ever exist on the planet.

  • powerful trio!

  • My favorite Grand Funk song Ever

  • TEMAZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Grand Funk simply has more soul than anybody else. Their songs don't need to be complex compositions, Mark can bend a note and Don and Mel carry that note to perfection. When Mark goes into a lead, Don actually plays the guitar rhythms on the drums.

  • Not a week goes by when I don't listen to GF. Been doing so for the last 40 years

  • @RossGAnderson my very first album i forced my parents to buy was GFR live 1970 had to have it!! saw them on Don Kirshners "Rock Concert" 1969 never looked back. Why they never got the recognition they deserved I DONT KNOW !! one of the most influential bands of our time "the drumming garanteed to drive you up a wall" Not bad guitar work for a 200$ messenger! THANK YOU GOODNIGHT!!

  • @RossGAnderson Me too, believe me!!! And I love GFR over all...

  • one of my favorite songs ever!

  • As a 61 year old, former band singer, I stand by my comments, that comparing one band to another is senseless. I was recently called "assinine, clueless, and accused of being a teen with an overly active imagination" for my previous comment that was based on someone else's comment that "yeah they were good", but so and so was better. And fact remains, this is still one of my favorites.

  • @WolfenRain Well you know, if we all had the same opinions this world would be very boring I think. This is also one of my favorites.

  • Man,I haven't listened to these guys in years. What a great band they were. The talent level was way up there.

  • Y LOS NIÑITOS DE HOY ...SE CHORREAN CON RATA BLANCA...NO?

  • This is a real blues class !!! great Mark Farmer and his group , GFR !!!!!

  • ..good lagendery band (", )

  • DII SI, mcd.

  • I was @ this Concert in 1974! Wow what a concert! They turned out all lites except for black lites, the drummer was realy wild, all you could see was his arms moving and Mark going back and forth across the stage, all that dope and i still remember it as it was yesterday!!!!!

  • Excellent guitarist...playing like this in the 60's? wow...

  • Was stationed in Bad Kreuznach Germany(1971) and they loaded up a deuce and a half with anyone wanting to go see Grand Funk. I hopped in the back and it seemed like we rode for hours to a destination I dont know still today??Most of us was already half drunk and high before and after but I remember the drummer doing a solo that went like a old train engine starting up going faster and faster for a long time. Been a Funk Fan ever sense. Thanks for the flashback.

  • is great the number one

  • I like studio album but GFR it's just a fucking noise in live, worse than a shitty metal band 0.0

  • @MetalMusicMaikel maybe not, but, they have every reason 2 say: 1 third of the world speak chinese - Learn it metal head :-)

  • @MetalMusicMaikel

The Summer Institute for Linguistics (SIL) Ethnologue Survey (1999) lists the following as the top languages by population:

(number of native speakers in parentheses)

    Chinese* (937,132,000)

    Spanish (332,000,000)

    English (322,000,000)

    1. maybe i dunno english. 2. if u dun wanna learn, google translate might help u. 3. i won't mind if u speak dutch. if i'm interested: copy - paste into google and i'll get a vague idea about what u wanna say.

  • SEXO ,DROGAS Y ROCK AND ROLL

  • No mamen esto si es mùsica chinga' Mark Farner Rules!!! Yeah!!!

  • No mamen esto si es mùsica chinga' Merk Farner Rules!!! Yeah!!!

  • A good lesson Gaspo but most of the kids i see are not rocking big kits these days. Don could do major damage with just a kick and snare!!!!!

  • A lesson for all you young and up and coming drummers: look at Don's very BASIC drumset here. You don't need 14 drums and 21 cymbals to be EFFECTIVE !!

  • I saw them at the Garden. They were great.

  • esse batera é mto foda !

  • Buena Pieza, mis mejores deseos para la dedicatoria.

  • Y al que no le guste que se siente en una estaca

  • I've always known that Homer Simpson's really got his shit together musically.

  • A great performance!

  • Brewer apparently headed to a flamenco gig after this..............

  • Back in the '70's, the bigger the bell-bottoms were, the better!! And you ironed them to make them look even cooler!! Brings back good memories, seeing & listening to them!

  • hell yeah, he muerto y visto los ojos de las llamas del infierno quemando almas con corazones rotos... :(/

  • America is the world and if it wasn't for us feeding and funding all the thrid world they would be droping like fly's. Thank you very much.

  • Please Americans, go and see more than the fucking Simpson. In the world exists more people than than bold idiot. People who really like rock and really enjoy it.The world sees America but America doesn't see the world, Please wake up!

  • @pepetrueno1967 u gona die by homer simpson car

  • still like the Atlanta Pop Festival version better but Mark's gettin' it

  • my dad showed me this band, (I have 19 years) .. and we love this song! that good memories♥

  • They are a True POWER-HOUSE~ I was 13 and my older, wiser sister got me hooked on these guys and even my Mom Liked them and she was 45 at the time!! ROCK ON-DUDES!

  • CLASSIC!

  • Love Craig Frost!!! Mark needs to keep his shirt on

  • @squiffydoodle He should take his pants off too! Woo Hoo!

  • @Abkeda He should take everything off...and just sing and play that guitar...mmhmm.......hahaha. But seriously though this band is awesome. :)

  • There's a lesson in talent for you, kids! Take note!! Notice how many choreographed dancers they had on stage! Notice how many people on stage were actually playing an instrument and singing!! Notice how much guts went into performing JUST this one song!! Now, take a good look at any present day pop star's videos you can think of and ask the same questions. Take note of the answers you get!! Also ask yourselves how great the pop show would be WITHOUT the dancers and pre-recorded music!!

  • maldicion qhe cuerpo....

  • Farner rocks...always has, always will.

  • I'm 16 years old boy, from Chile, where Reggaeton and Pop music dwells. I really don't care about what people says to me when they look what I'm listening to. I listen Grand Funk Railroad since I was 7 years old and for sure Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple... etc., all these bands guided me to a better life, full of rock, power and emotions.

I say thanks to all of them, from the most inside of my heart!
