Thanks for the great video. I have a Swedish Mauser still in its original state and in great condition with all matching serial numbers..................just love it. I bought at a gun show here in Calgary Canada for $375.
@ctford27 About the most important tip i could give on building a rifle on this action is.....make sure you have a very firm/tight fitting head space, and make sure the projectile is just engaging the rifleing in the barrel when it's chambered. you don't want any gap at all as this will affect accuracy
Outstanding: I just gave away my first 6.5 x 55 to a friend who needed a hunting rifle: it's a carbine, the first rifle I owned, given by my Dad about 50 years ago. Later, I bought the "long rifle" edition, and installed a Timney trigger and a "cock on opening" bolt, and a Leopold vari x scope: the rifle has been a life long companion best friend, and absolutely is a pleasure in every regard. The ammo it likes best is Norma 139 grain, which I can't find anymore: Hornadayi next. Thanks!
Looks like you got lucky with your Turkish action. Most aren't that smooth. I feel for you having to put up with goofy gun laws that mainly effect only the good guys. I hope that it never gets that bad in the US. The 6.5x55mm is one of my favorite calibers. Accuracy comes easy with that caliber too. If I didn't like my Marlin .30-30 lever-gun so much, I'd use a bolt-gun like yours to hunt with.
@gvi341984 The exact opposite. It is too heavy to carry. The but has lead shot in it to balance it correctly for offhand shooting and it weighs around 13kg certainly not something you wanty to walk all day with, i can carry it for about 1-2 hrs tops
Sorry to here you had to sell your rifles because of some dumb ass politicians and some idiots going on rampages and affecting law abiding citizens with our possession of weapons. Nice job on your rifle we have Birchwood Casey gun bluing here in the states if your interested I'll get you some websites if your interested. I'm looking to buy a 6.5 x 55 with a thumb hole stock but probably not until after the new year. I got a Remi 700 BDL 7mm magnum going on a Boyds Thumb hole stock. Good day.
good vid, if you are interested in having a fully working safety with that set up you can get a lever that swings around the back of the bolt instead of flipping over the top. it is a do it yourself project, nice work on your mauser
I too am a fan of the 6.5 Swede. My 1st was a model 38 but stupidly traded it in for a new Win model 70 30-06:(......soon I'll get another but maybe in a Tikka
Your rifle looks identical to the one I built, except I used the original M96 action for my gun..put a ram-line stock on mine as well. Glass bedded it, and had a 2 position Winchester safety put on it for scope use. Mounted a Leupold 3x9 variable scope on it. Mine likes handloads with Sierra 100 grain HPs and Hornady 129 grain Spire points. So far I have taken 2 whitetails, 2 mule deer, 2 antelope (pronhorns) and a small hog with it.
Nice rifle, Im a fan of the 6.5x55. I have a Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori 6.5x55. Had it for about 15years, have been recently making a few mods. same ram line stock as yours, timney trigger and have started reloading for it. Have a new scope on the way and fingers crossed the bolt clears it. Very happy with how it is coming along. Very shootable rifle, great calibre for Australian hunting.
@RubberBudgie7 Yeah great calibre for sure. The Ramline stock I got was warped from being packed incorrectly and a pain to fit. Also I had to file and grind away a lot of the pistol grip to get it to fit my hand properly so it's ok to do this
sweet gun, how hard is it to get ammo? cant get it out here, well u can gutt its like one box at a time, well thats california for ya, this state sucks ass! nice vid again
nice dus it have me kick/recoil a was shooting with my friend on tuesday hes gto a 22.250 winchester a 17 hmr thats what i was shooting and hes got some other things to lyk shotguns its fun but didnt get much :(

Oh you used a Turk 98. That must be a small ring. I bought a Swede 6.5x55 barrel and 1915 M96 action today, got any tips for my build?

Nice video bro. Will a swede barrel fit on on a 98K action or do you have to use the swede 96 action?
ctford27 4 weeks ago
@ctford27 NO! Mausers are grouped into 2 sizes. Small ring & large ring. The 1896 is a small ring.

Pretty rifle... good caliber.... love Mausers...28 lbs ? I'd expect a .50 BMG. Almost needs a bi-pod...
xzqzq 11 months ago
@xzqzq Yeah sorry about the mistake I meant 13 pound not kg

@gvi341984 The K31 is a Swiss rifle made by Schmidt-Rubin, its not Swedish.

How much time and effort did it take to convert the 8mm to 6.5x55?
6.5x55 is a great caliber and I'm thinking about doing the same thing, only shorter
