At 1.30, Rhys had just died and Gwen was, understandably, upset. At 1.17 she got mad that Jack wouldn't open the rift to bring Rhys back, hence the slap. And no, she didn't spend the whole of season 1 crying, only a couple of eps.

As for 1.42, I don't know. Didn't see that one- sorry.
