It annoys the heck out of me when "educated" people call America a democracy. I personally believe that a democracy is the worst form of government ever, and it is way too radical. Like Jean Rousseau who believed that people must be forced to be free and to be forced to conform to the "common good". However, this idea has been sneaking into society for a long time, the Church in the 15th-17th centuries, and censors today who feel that knowledge is dangerous.
@TheHDGreenScreenMan Yeah, things were much better before democracy, when we had one elitist class (probably 2-3%) ruling over everyone else.
There will always be someone in power. If you remove democracy, someone else institutes themselfes on society and simply takes power. Who will stop them? Police (who wont exist), The military (who wont exist), etc.
I think we all see that the choice is democracy or fascism.
@gulbirk I never said things were better before a democracy. France went from a bad social order to a less worse democracy, which would have worked for them. However in America, it's like people have no incentive to learn or educate themselves. Therefore our decisions would be based on the desires of stupid people. We are not, nor have we ever been a democracy. A democracy, contrary to popular belief, does not make us freer. We have to conform to the "good" of society.
@gulbirk And I don;t understand what you mean by saying the police and military won't exist anywhere other than a democracy. In our REPUBLIC, it seems to be working fine. The only suggestion I would make is to only allow voting to high school graduates, so the voters have some sense of government, not just "This guy's gonna make MY life better". And I agree, there will always be someone in power. That's why we need to get the fuck up and stop being lazy so we can vote for the best representative
many of you guys are wrong, i think no one would like to live in a democracy....read this lexrex com / enlightened / AmericanIdeal / aspects /demrep html
it gives you a clear definition and diference between the both. And might i remind you that if no one was to vote "just and example" there will still be electiones and canidates will still get elected.....the founding fathers of this nation knew that all type of democracy fails, thats why we are a republic,
Dude, I think you misunderstand what a democracy is; democracy is "government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system." A republic IS a form of democracy, with elected individuals representing the people. Get your shit straight
LIBYA: From 17.06 - 19.07.11, 5 Million demonstrated against NATO and its rebels = 80 percent of libyans - that is why NATO does not accept Libyan offer of democratic elections supervised by UN and AU ! green Pro-Gadddafi demonstrations: Tripolis: watch?v=Q0XsF03fNM4 watch?v=1-UauWzcAkg watch?v=q4o2O2zePL4 watch?v=0p4MlvFGbao&NR=1 watch?v=MO_2LoKkajM watch?v=WCKM-A9Cryc watch?v=2kksYhNYuQs watch?v=XB97HznH4n4 watch?v=CEidZcZJ6AI watch?v=lx0YJz1ukYs watch?v=aX1DijkPgZ0&NR=1
Yep, the problem is we are moving away from a Republic towards a Mobocracy (Democracy) where 51% of the people can expropriate the wealth of the other 49% (progressive Income Tax) & 51% of the people can influence their elected officials to give them more government approved "entitlements" not found in our Constitution. The end result is now clearly evident: bankruptcy. This will end in chaos & perhaps in our change of government away from a Republican form of government to aa Autocracy.
Fore example, my country is also a democracy, because the people choose their prime minister who presents policies etc, however on the same time it's a constitutional monarchy (Sweden), read about politics.
@americanliberal09 Because it is a republic, but republic does not exculde democracy.
They don't speak against democracy, that's republican propaganda just like all democrats are communist pinkos, retard.
In america, the people elect their leaders, that's what representative democracy is, a republic in itself DOES NOT GUARANTEE that people elect their leaders, look at republics in the middle age and ancient republics in europe ffs, like Rome.
@Imhornydadcomeinside hmm did the people of germany elected Hitler democratically? and how that turn for them. Thomas Jefferson warns about democracy being an mob rule. in the federalist papers only the states get elect the presidents by electoral college not by majority of the people. america is a constitutional republic and democracy is never mention in any of their writings.
representative democracy sucks because it will become an oligarchy in the end bro.
@americanliberal09 America has always been a country ruled by big corpporations and rich people, and republican party loves the elite, they lick their asses every day, and conservatives hates capitalism and supports corporatism instead (watch faux news).
And the republic in itself will not become an oligarchy? The republic of rome was never an oligarchy huh? Fucking retard loool.
A republic without democracy will become oligarchy faster then you can say "what happened?"
@Imhornydadcomeinside i barely watch fox news bro. representative democracy is when you elect special interest groups to control the government like political parties such as democrates and republicans. taken over the government and won't let any thrid party groups or independents to obtain in office now that's a oligrachy. but dude were not talking about political parties were talking about the forms of government. when you mix republic and democracy together it become an elite trust me.
@Imhornydadcomeinside that's only 2 republics in the middle ages but rest of mediveal europe was ruled by kingdoms.
roman republic is better shoot the founding fathers highly praise the roman republic because it was the foundation our form of government. i love republicanism than democracy. not all the roman emperors were bad. Augustus, Trajan, Marcus and Hadrian give alot freedom to their people and build great memorable buildings in western history. you love athens but they slavery
You forgot florence, and here are some more republics:
genoa
Iceland
Old swiss confederacy
Pskov.
The list goes on and it gets bigger during the renaissance.
The roman republic was not praised by the foudning fathers, where did they praise it? So they adored a republic who became an oligarchy, and then a rich ancient family took over it (julii) and made itself the ruling noble class? Roman republic didn't give two shits about its people.
@americanliberal09 ROme did not influence america, only modern conservatives admire rome, the founding fathers did not get their influence from Rome, since in rome the people had few rights, rome was a militaristic oligarchy were the rich openly controlled public affairs.
Republics become oligarchies, rome was a fucking oligarchy, look at scandinavia, it is way less corrupt than most of the republics, even america, and they have KINGS for god sake, read about politics!
@Imhornydadcomeinside in ancient Athens woman were uneducated and remain secluded in their homes slaves were treated badly foreigners can't vote nor gain any political power hmmm democracy is meant for men not for anyone. these are rich male Athenians control the government but you blame Rome for being rich and noble please. in oligarchy Sparta woman have rights and freedoms just as men could.
you hate Rome but you love Athens remember dude the wealthy Athenians don't care about the poor
@americanliberal09 So you mean that in the republic of rome, women were discriminated against in republics such as the republic of venice, the netherlands, switzerland etc etc compared to modern democracies, your "example" is kinda lame.
When did I say I love athens? Sparta was a shitty macho oligarchy compared to modern democracies dude, bad example yet again, sparta was also highly anti-intellectual, is that a good thing?
@americanliberal09Where did I say that I love athens?
Athens was a democracy, however sweden today is also a democracy, sweden DOES NOT discriminate against women, or foreigners. You example is lame, a democracy is shaped by the people, if the people are uneducated and dumb, they take away rights, if they are educated and caring like swedes, they give rights.
@americanliberal09 If church is mixed within the government, then the government isn't SECULAR, read what secular means, you show your ignorance again and again. You don't want a secular republic.
@Imhornydadcomeinside and why you call me a retard like your being under attacked. i'm just criticizing you bro no harsh feelings. and no i'm retarded i know what is a democracy is and isn't. democracy doesn't guarantee freedom because to order to be free somebody have to vote for your freedom.
in a republic your rights and your liberty are given for free without having to vote.
i hate voting for special interest groups seriously they keep controlling everything geez. voting is lame
@Imhornydadcomeinside and were are not about liberal democrats nor conservatives republicans but both of them suck anyway they don't produce any good results. democracy is a utopia that never progress on people right's. but instead special interest groups use ignorant voters to get them elected to control them. i hate democracy is always about winning a popularity vote but never fixing any problems.
people can become tyrants without a state trust me i see minorities get bullied by the many alot
hmmm liberal democrats are nothing but an oligarchy to me no different from conservatives. but thanks to democracy we have to keep voting for endless of political parties to win over each other for votes but not the people. this is chaos dude i don't see how any society function like this. it's a sum zero game popular party will be the winner and the unpopular will be the loser. i supporting republican values why cuz it works
@americanliberal09 No, conservatives supports an oligarchy more than liberal democrats, again look at the republican conservative fox news who scream blasphemy when someone say "tax the rich" and LOVE anti capitalistic corporatism. Yet again you show your ignorance in politics. Now look at liberal msnbc, MUCH MORE leaned towards the poor and the middle class, fox news DESPISE the middle class and the poor.
Okay I thought you said "they suck" now you say "it works", good logic.
@americanliberal09 And a republic is what? No you're talking about athens treating their women, totally IGNORING their position. As I said but you are keeping ignoring this: USA use democracy to elect their leaders.
SO what should a state adopt? A dictatorhship? Minority rules majority? You haven't given ANY solution, you just say that "majority ruling is bad, herpadeprdeprderpprrrrf"
@americanliberal09 Yeah, sweden is a constitutional democracy, totally pawning US when it comes to corruption. OOOOOOOOOOOPS, conservative alarm! lie about it! Lie lie lie!
@americanliberal09 Yeah and a republic can also take away rights of others: Rome hated foreigners, a lot of foreigners weren't considered "roman citizens" even though a lot of them were born in Rome, the senate consisted of old men, no women there, rich people had the senate in the pockets, oligarchy. Ancient times.
And how should a a country be governed? The state deciding over it's people through dictatorship, nothing can go wrong? Minority ruling over majority? Is that more fitting for you?
@Imhornydadcomeinside rome never hated foreigners they allow other culures to come their city and have their own religion. c'mon romans learn from other cultures beside of their own. they learn it from the greeks and other oriental cultures. they were kind of the melting pot just like america.
@americanliberal09 Sweden does not have sharia laws, you're only showing what kind of person you are: A sad stereotypical retarded fat american hates muslims, who doesn't know shit about other countries other than what fox news tell you.
Muslims in sweden doesn't even have their own political party because they are not experienced with that kind of stuff, god you're so fucking retarded. Aren't you ashamed of your ignorance? You're not even bothering to write PROPER ENGLISH sometimes!
@Imhornydadcomeinside dude i'm not fat i'm skinny thank you very much. Muslims in europe are rioting and enforcing the sharia law it's not a joke they want to dominate. Sweden have muslims destroying buildings and causing troubles and i don't watch fox news barely have any television what is your problem
@americanliberal09 Living in Sweden, currently on this day, there were no muslim riots, stop being such a fat american racist lol.
"Muslims are evil herpaderpaderp, even though they allowed christians to exist in the ottoman empire while no muslims were allowed in christian europe.
@Imhornydadcomeinside look at hong kong for an example when they were controlled by the British and make them obey the common laws their was no democracy but their are free to produce what ever they want without having to vote because the British have a respect for property rights but when the British left china gain hong kong back and slip democracy they lost all their freedoms by voting.
democracy has no separation of powers nor lawyers but a republic has all this that democracy doesn't have.
look at ancient athens they created democracy but woman, slaves and foregners don't have any rights nor they were free. in athens democracy is only meant for men not for woman nor slaves. this form of government ruled by the many and you call that freedom?
Yeah because in a democracy, the people decide government. It is the best kind of government that makes common opinion, rather than oligarchy and dictators, decide the government. Because do you know a better way to rule a country? Name one, how should the people elect their leaders? Athens had more insight in their government than the Republic of rome, who by the way became a monarchy. Lol!
@Imhornydadcomeinside a true republic doesn't become an oligarchy nor a majority rule. it 's a rule of law that protects the people freedoms and rights without having to vote.
why should people vote for special interest groups to gain what they want?
60% of people vote on to ban gay marriage, 50% of people vote on to banning smoking you call this equality?. i see alot of western democratic countries treat the minorities unfairly because they are unpopular
@americanliberal09 A true republic can become a oligarchy and a majority rule. The roman republic was an oligarchy all the time, again you don't know what a republic is. DId you know that there have been republican dictatorships?
@Imhornydadcomeinside america has become a culture of dependence because the people rely on their government to do everything instead of doing things on their own. this country is run by socialist now and were broke of this mixed economy. i think it's about time to abolished democracy once and for all.
it might be an oligarchy to you but to us republicans it's freedom.
@americanliberal09 "america has become a culture of dependence because the people rely on their government to do everything instead of doing things on their own."
Are you serious? The government was totally okay with slavery and apartheid, do you know how long it took the glorious american government to realize that blacks were equal?
A state deciding everything is not freedom, it's a dictatorship. No matter what you say, america has always had democratic elections, within the republic.
Respond to this video... no not really i truly support a limited government were the it leaves the people alone so they can freedom without having to vote. i'm not a tyrant nor oligarch either i'm republican that truly believes in economic freedoms and personal freedoms for the people.
another thing is when i say america become the culture of depedence i really mean that the people rely on political parties to control their lives and choices
@americanliberal09 And how should the political parties be elected? By the state? People voting = Democracy, learn about democracy, direct and representative, ffs.
@americanliberal09 "were broke of this mixed economy" America is SOON TO BE broke because of its steroid overextended military. You are having military bases all over the world, america is also broke because of big corporations getting a lot of money although they are bad at running them. Some get fat bonuses even though their corporations are doing bad, because the elite only cares about corporate infrastructure, the corporate empire, this has nothing to do with socialism or capitalism.
@Imhornydadcomeinside o.k gosh relax man i'm just giving out facts and you act all hostile for no reason. you "sigh" what america is right now not republican government anymore we still have a representative democracy which forms too many political parties taken over. who let the big banks and the huge coorperations take over? republicans and democrates who let their government screw things over the people
@Imhornydadcomeinside do you think massive groups tell each other what to do all the time? you can live in a society of masses of people and they still tell what to do. democracy never appeared in the U.S constitution nor the federalist papers.
i suggest you should watch republic vs democracy by auntieZionist probably you can get an clear picture what a republic truly is i hope it helps
@Imhornydadcomeinside i don't support political parties both of them do the same thing the more you vote the more you get same trust me these parties will keep lying to them and aid big corporations
i don't like the state to run everything either but i support individual rights for the people so they can governed their lives on their own without government telling them what to do it's really simple it's not that hard
Simply repeating what you hear on Hate radio and Faux news makes you look like exactly what you are, a MORON. Saying that the USA "is a republic not a democracy" is synonymous with saying "He's a third baseman NOT a baseball player." Fuck! You people are dumb. You have shit for brains.
@AspiringPotato The american system is capitalism for the poor and socialism for the rich. only 1% of the citizens have any rights. I absolutly hate anyone who has more rights than me because they are in a differant class. I would love to walk into wall street and rip out all those cunt's brains with my teeth if i could get away with it. I hate america.
@23SHEVEK everything in your post is nonesense you make no sense i guess your looking at the glass as half empty huh? oh dont even bother to respond because i already know your a liberial idot you have no thoughts ecept the ones told to you through liberial news networks like npr , cnn , msnbc . you think your wise but your silly !
I agree, the United States of America would be far better off with a more pure republic! we should make it mandatory for teachers to teach why the US is a republic and not a Democracy. Also there should be an in depth explanation!
@DukeofUSA You didn't answer the question? Why should it be mandatory to lie to students? The USA is a constitutional democratic republic, which is a form of limited representative democracy, but you want schools to lie to children on this subject. Why?
@Fuctmentality where are you getting this democracy from?? for a hundred years, we didnt even elect national senators.. only our state senators. how is it that 1/3 of the government, Congress. automatically deems our nation's government as a democracy? do our votes for the president put the president in office? no, thats the electoral college, how about the judicial branch?? umm no we dont vote for supreme court justices. only the legislative branch is a democracy, kinda.. please..
@nintendude60 The dictionary. Even before the 17th amendment it still was a form of representative democracy as federal representatives were voted on by state representatives. Yes, in most states it does & in every state the electoral college is an elected IE democratic body. The legislative branch is the one that makes laws, dipshit. What you are saying is I can't call it a cheeseburger, I have to call it ground beef on a bun with cultured milk.
@Fuctmentality our schools are lying to our children. we say the pledge everyday, and to the Republic for which it stands.. not democracy. we arent a democracy but a constitutional republic, that employees some democratic principles. your saying if you ordered a cheeseburger w pickles, you would call it a pickle sandwich. school is heavily biased towards liberals in history. mostly filled with half truths, and left wing idealogical analysis.
Democracy makes no sense. Majority rules is such a juvenile system. If America really held true to it's republican roots (I am not talking about the political party), there would be a 2/3 vote for all the things we vote on. 51 percent should NOT be the benchmark of what the people want.
USA has NO Capitalism, USA HAS Corporatism/Fascism
USA has NO Republic, USA HAS Plutocracy
USA has NO Constitution, USA HAS Patriot Act, Wiretap, Drones, Blackwater, False Flag Attacks & Lies
USA has NO Politicians/Reps, USA ONLY HAS Neocon Zionist Corporate Lobbyists working ONLY for Corporations, Fed Reserve, "Business Roundtable" & AIPAC/PNAC/CFR
USA has NO Political Parties, USA ONLY HAS NEOCONS & AIPAC IN DC AND NEOCONS, ZIONISTS & CEO's IN POWER
The US Constitution originally limited those who could vote to Caucasian Males who Owned Property in the form of real estate. In some States this was limited again by Religion. Therefore the U.S.A. has always been a Constitutional Republic who's officials are appointed using a Limited System (but still a System) of Representative Democracy aka Indirect Democracy. The U.S. is a Democratic Constitutional Republic. The US system of Representative Democracy has over years become less limited. So?
Incorrect. We are a Confederation of Republic states (united states). The only "democracy" here is in your head, and imaginary. Specifically, the democracy part is ONLY applicable to CONGRESS ASSEMBLED (the Federal Government). You see, the Articles of Confederation are still in force, the Constitution was written FOR CONGRESS TO FOLLOW, a FEDERAL Constitution. A Democracy is mob rule by morons, a Republic is the largest jury ever conceived. EVERY man has a say.
No one ever questioned use of the word "democracy" to describe our government until recently. Every great book about the usa and all history books from 1800 forward describe our government as democratic, including "Democracy in America" 1806, Tocqueville. The idea that usa is not a democracy is an idea created in the last 40 years to justify fascism in the usa. Calling democracy mob rule is like calling the ocean a cup of water.
Those Americans are so stupid they don't want to be a democracy they want to steal the world, to rob everyone to get more and more of every country of this world, they are brutal and selfish. They killed the original owners of their own land, to get it, something they wish to continue with the rest of the world. They consume more and more of the vtal ressources of this world, more than all other countries, they want to steal and rob to survive for ever and dominate and destroy the planet
@893160007 a republic cannot be a democracy. it can behave democratically, but that doesn't make it one. the law rules. not the majority. the law allows us to vote on some things, but not others. we should not be allowed to vote away the rights or property of any individual.
Privatization, private ownership of eg. shares in a company is anti-democratic. Privatization is about exclusion, exclusion of the majority. How can private exclusive individual ownership in something be democractic? Lenin stated:
'Democracy for an insignificant minority, democracy for the rich--that is the democracy of capitalist society.'
As a Republic, America has done well to keep itself from reverting to a Despotism for the last 221 years, by avoiding the mistakes of the Roman Republic by allowing a Despot to rise to power.
This is the 5th or 6th video that seems to believe the United States isn't a Democracy.
A Republic is a TYPE of Democracy. To be specific, a Representative Democracy. The "Democracy" referred to in this video is a "Pure Democracy".
James Madison referred to the U.S. form of "Republic" as a "Representative Democracy." He AND Thomas Jefferson founded the "Democratic Republican Party", which later went on to become the modern Democratic Party.
WRONG! A Republic has been described by James Madison as a "representative democracy", but he was not saying it is a kind of democracy. There are significant differences, which this is one of the only instances where a founder compared the US to a democracy -not that he didn't call it a democracy ever.
Take the "representative" out of "representative democracy" and you have something that is totally different than a Republic.
If a republic is a kind of democracy, than a democracy is a kind of monarchy -a peoples monarchy. The king elected by the people -which is what demorats like, huh.
I could say a Milky Way chocolate bar is a "carameled 3 Musketeers" bar, but they are still two different bars aren't they? A Milky Way is not a type of 3 Musketeers, but they are both 2 different kinds of chocolate bar no matter what their similar ingredients. "representative" makes it not a democracy.
@rabidfox1 Oh wow, I just replied to you on a different video I think. Again, there may be a misunderstanding on what I'm saying, but I want to first recommend you to look up Republic, Liberal Democracy and Democracy on Wikipedia. A "Democracy" is simply defined as "rule of the people", of which there are considered two types ~ Direct and Representative. The U.S. form of Republic is considered a Representative Democracy (more specifically, a Liberal Democracy).
mop rule lol when it comes to propositions yes but we simply vote for a senators and if they are dems or reps when it comes to voting which every has more in office will win but even dems this year voted for against health care some do it to keep a seat so it can go up in the air.
No, Actually of the 256 signers of the constitution 58 of them were Evagellical Pastors and many more considered themselves Christian. The only evidence you can profide at for Deism is from Thomas Payne, Tomas Jefferson, And Ben Franklin and if you read Their personal writings you find that they would have dissagreed with you about themselves. Even William Henry Morris-The guy who Penned the constitution itself was a Pastor.
"When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic." Benjamin Franklin
Looks to me like we have a Democracy
Federal Employee Retirement Systems,Railroad Retirement System, Civil Service Retirement Systems, Public Housing, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Food Stamp Program
I don't care whether america is democratic or not. but america should not intervene other countries by war. iraq war was completely unnecessary. results of the iraq war is quite many death of innocent civilians. if america want to change autocratic country to democratic, china should be first target.
You should care, if you would actually listen to people and maybe read our constituion or declaration of Independence, you might. Of course most "Democrats" won't listen to an opposing view or consider they might be wrong. Yes our politicians are mostly corrupt, but that is up to us to change when we vote. Of course you may have to "Vote" by your conscience instead of your pocketbook or what you may believe which Politician will benefit you most Monetarily.
@CrikeyOldSport, actually it was necessary as Saddam had violated the terms of the first gulf war cease fire dozens of times, and ignored at least 13 UN resolutions in the years after the 1st gulf war. Any one of those violations were technically a declaration of war by IRAQ upon USA and its ALLIES. Regardless of if they had WMD or not (Saddam hinted he had them), any one of these issues were a declaration by Saddam, ending the peace and demanding miltary force against him and his regime.
do your research before u say thing you don't know what your talking about. The war in Iraq was perfectly justified, WMD were suspected to be in the "Suicidal" state (if they aren't why would they bomb us with the cost of their life) If WMD were there, and we had not went in you think they would have used it against us? HELL YES THEY WOULD
You are right that the "American" democracy is treatened. It is threatened by the far right, the corporations, and the finacial institutions, fraud, and lack of legal control. I beleive in democracy. Real democracy. You can't have a republic without it. Anything else is despotism. Who would you have as king ? Death to totalitarianism.
It's sad to say that America has become a Democracy and will fall because of it.
"Democracy...while it lasts is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide." -John Adams
You people are living in the dark ages. There is no Republic or Democracy in this country any longer. Our system of government over the years has been transformed into a system of Corporatism. Your attention is our of focus. Look beyond the obvious and abre los ojos.
Republic is what America is, but the Zionist Bankers have been trying to take us into a democracy and Democratic Law, Learn the Real History and the Real Laws! Democracy is a Fraud and to take Away your Rights and Freedom!!! We are to Spread a Republic! Wake UP America!
4:53 - FALSE!!! a parlimentry system is also a Republic and there is no executive branch. the only taxes to be collected, since the start of the Union, were to be "apportioned"- meaning collected evenly from all and spread evenly for the benefit of all.
a Republic is a form of Democracy. to say "America is a Democracy" is not a false statement. if you want to be specific, you would say "America is a Republic"
There is a huge difference between Democracy and Republic. Democracy= Mob Rule. If we vote to take your land, YOU LOOSE IT!!! Hence Mob Rule.
In a Republic when you own property you have rights. So if we vote to take your land (no matter how many votes), YOU GET TO KEEP IT. Its YOUR property, you own it, it is your right to keep it and no one can take it. See the difference?
FYI: under god was added to the pledge in 1954. god was never part of the founders' idea on how to run this country. secondly I'd like to throw this quote out there..."It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried." Winston Churchill.
Yeah, I think in this case a Republic is probably the best form I like how it is in between a mobocracy and a tryranny how the powers of the government and the people balance
The supreme court has ruled that the 50 states are countries with respect to each other but under the 14th amendment system you are participating in rebellion against your de jure country when you vote, through contract as well and that is why you have to pay IRS and so forth.. and are responsible for the national debt. watch all 6 vids for more info please watch watch?v=G1B33IvnJ4M&feature=ch annel_page
Lawmakers control a republic. Since they are not really bound by any higher external 3rd party institution, they may theoretically function in a lawless manner. The law maker is effectively and seemingly paradoxically "above the law". For since they have a monopoly on law, they may theoretically interpret it and defy it as they please. The law is not binding on them. Rather, the law's content and applicability is actually bound to their whims as the ones with power. Again, Oligarchy
That is simply false...the founders shared your concerns exactly and tried to make a document to separate power. Law makers simply do not have a monopoly on law, just ask the States, Supreme Court, or the Executive. True, they have a lot of power and become corrupt, but us Americans simply don't have the "pleasure" of living in a true oligarchy.
I'll be fair....I'm right if it is a Republic with separation of powers. Your right if it is a Republic with no courts, a weak executive, etc.. like in Russia....I'm am not sure if you are talking about the US or not.
read up on duel sovereignty, it's supposed to keep them in line. This too fully died after the federal reserve was enacted. The lawmakers as elected officials are supposed to be the representation of the people and subject to removal by not being reelected if they fail in this aspect. The supreme law (constitution) is supposed to concrete I'd also like to add.
A Republic is a kind of democracy, namely a "Representative Democracy." I agree it's not a Direct Democracy, but, as you said, it has democratic elements like voting ... and b/c of that, it is a democracy. Our rulers and representatives are in power ultimately because the people put them there. Since the power ultimately then comes from the people, it is a form of democracy.
United States is a Democratic-Republic. The majority is allowed to vote on issues such as prop 8 in California only if the government allows them to. The reason the United States is a republic is to protect the rights of minorities.
Yes, but the problem is TruthSeeker is that the Liberal Media in your country most of the time only recognizes the former and not the latter. In the cartoon: "American Dad" for example, you can always hear Stan Smith saying "Democracy have triumphed again..". Sound bites like that sometimes brings confusion to this issue of what kind of government you have.
no it's to protect the rights of everybody. Government doesn't care if you're a minority or not, tyranny is tyranny. Granted it does protect the rights of minorities but everybody else too.
Great explanation even though you look like a 'bubba'. And thanks for giving a heads up to the (entire) pledge of allegiance. Please join Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty if you haven't already. They need YOU! One question? did you make copies available of your copy of this document?
Democracy - "The doctrine that the numerical majority of an organized group can make decisions binding on the whole group" (WordWeb)
Organized group - Government
Whole Group - The citizens
Which means - Government base decisions for the people.
In a democracy 51% of the people can destroy the rights of 49% of the people. In our constitutional republic, 99% of the people cannot legally destroy the rights of 1% of the people.
In a constitutional republic the individual citizens rule.
In a constitutional republic the government exists to protect the sovereignty of the citizens.
In a constitutional republic the government establishes a bureaucracy to carry out the will of the citizens, to legislate the protection of their sovereignty, and to regulate all other entities that exist in the nation, such as corporations, so as to ensure that no other entity infringes on the citizens' sovereignty.
With that said, I do approve of the use of blgarath as a screen name. Eddings' books though I put below Gemmell or G.R.R Martin still have a place in my heart.
Making this argument to me is kind of a waste. You can find articles describing a "republic" that are way off of what America is. I'm not saying the video is wrong, our government is what it is. Calling it a democracy is mainly just trying to emphasize that the people have power in the government. Which we still definitely do.
America is a Constitutional Federal Republic!!!!! ..... and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands... One Nation Under God!! (not a god, but GOD!!! Christian Judeo God) Indivisible, With Liberty and Justice for all. ITS NOT A DEMOCRACY!!!
Actually this nation was founded by deists, but Christianity thrived under the free will this nation let us have. They founded it on a Roman style republic.
Rome and Greece become a democracy and imploded. The Grecian men were out in the streets demanding the government to give them food and water.
Even Karl Marx liked Mobocracies because they always lead to socialism.
Don't be ignorant. You know damn well when an individual uses the general term Democracy to describe the United States they mean a *representative* democracy, not a direct democracy which is what you are ranting about. The term representative democracy is interchangable with the term republic.
As for the "under God" portion in the pledge, this was added in the 1950s by a Catholic fraternity called Knights of Columbus. This never appeared in the original pledge.
"Democracy is the most vile form of government...democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention: have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property: and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths." -- James Madison
"The honest and serious student of American history will recall that our Founding Fathers managed to write both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution without using the term 'democracy' even once. No part of any of the existing state Constitutions contains any reference to the word. The men who were most influential in the institution and formulation of our government refer to 'democracy' only to distinguish it sharply from the republican form of our American Constitutional system"
The U.S.A. was created as a REPUBLIC not a democracy, but operating on democratic principles. Each state with it's sovereign rights, independent nations representing it's citizens closely. This was to insure that the central gov't(represented by the minority) could not dictate to the states(represented by the majority"the people") individual rights and liberties.
Benjamin Franklin when asked what type of gov't they had created?"A republic if they can keep it"
See my video clip under notademocracy - there is a way to change the ballot paper to include a box 'none of the above'- if none of the candidates beats 'none of the above'then there is a new election and they cant run again! How simple, how powerful!
Thanks for saying the words outloud while displaying them. Many people fail to do that, because they do not realize how completely dull it is to read in the middle of a video.
a democracy is a failing repulic a democracy bcomes an oligarchy

It is SUPPOSED to be a Republic. It IS an Oligarchy.

TheHDGreenScreenMan 4 weeks ago
@TheHDGreenScreenMan Yeah, things were much better before democracy, when we had one elitist class (probably 2-3%) ruling over everyone else.
There will always be someone in power. If you remove democracy, someone else institutes themselfes on society and simply takes power. Who will stop them? Police (who wont exist), The military (who wont exist), etc.
I think we all see that the choice is democracy or fascism.
gulbirk 3 weeks ago
@gulbirk I never said things were better before a democracy. France went from a bad social order to a less worse democracy, which would have worked for them. However in America, it's like people have no incentive to learn or educate themselves. Therefore our decisions would be based on the desires of stupid people. We are not, nor have we ever been a democracy. A democracy, contrary to popular belief, does not make us freer. We have to conform to the "good" of society.
TheHDGreenScreenMan 3 weeks ago
@gulbirk And I don;t understand what you mean by saying the police and military won't exist anywhere other than a democracy. In our REPUBLIC, it seems to be working fine. The only suggestion I would make is to only allow voting to high school graduates, so the voters have some sense of government, not just "This guy's gonna make MY life better". And I agree, there will always be someone in power. That's why we need to get the fuck up and stop being lazy so we can vote for the best representative
TheHDGreenScreenMan 3 weeks ago
@nycjr718 Indeed, you are correct.

many of you guys are wrong, i think no one would like to live in a democracy....read this lexrex com / enlightened / AmericanIdeal / aspects /demrep html
it gives you a clear definition and diference between the both.

Ethercruiser 7 months ago
Yes it is a Democracy! That is the problem!
jyoung0000 7 months ago
Fore example, my country is also a democracy, because the people choose their prime minister who presents policies etc, however on the same time it's a constitutional monarchy (Sweden), read about politics.

The Us is a democracy, and a constitutional republic, just like france.
The more you know.
Imhornydadcomeinside 7 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside then how come in our pledge it says for to the replubic.
america is not democracy it's a republic. how come our founding fathers speack against democracy
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 Because it is a republic, but republic does not exculde democracy.
They don't speak against democracy, that's republican propaganda just like all democrats are communist pinkos, retard.
In america, the people elect their leaders, that's what representative democracy is, a republic in itself DOES NOT GUARANTEE that people elect their leaders, look at republics in the middle age and ancient republics in europe ffs, like Rome.
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside hmm did the people of germany elected Hitler democratically? and how that turn for them. Thomas Jefferson warns about democracy being an mob rule. in the federalist papers only the states get elect the presidents by electoral college not by majority of the people. america is a constitutional republic and democracy is never mention in any of their writings.
representative democracy sucks because it will become an oligarchy in the end bro.
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 America has always been a country ruled by big corpporations and rich people, and republican party loves the elite, they lick their asses every day, and conservatives hates capitalism and supports corporatism instead (watch faux news).
And the republic in itself will not become an oligarchy? The republic of rome was never an oligarchy huh? Fucking retard loool.
A republic without democracy will become oligarchy faster then you can say "what happened?"
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside i barely watch fox news bro. representative democracy is when you elect special interest groups to control the government like political parties such as democrates and republicans. taken over the government and won't let any thrid party groups or independents to obtain in office now that's a oligrachy. but dude were not talking about political parties were talking about the forms of government. when you mix republic and democracy together it become an elite trust me.
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside that's only 2 republics in the middle ages but rest of mediveal europe was ruled by kingdoms.
roman republic is better shoot the founding fathers highly praise the roman republic because it was the foundation our form of government. i love republicanism than democracy. not all the roman emperors were bad. Augustus, Trajan, Marcus and Hadrian give alot freedom to their people and build great memorable buildings in western history. you love athens but they slavery
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside yes they did rome did influenced america not athenian democracy.
in rome citizen can elect consul who whatever they want.
rome had separation of powers which democracy never have.
in the middle ages theirs kings and nobles.
do democracy tell people what to do? do massive groups harm people as well.
democracy does become an oligrachy because we keep electing too much parties to be in office to control us you call this freedom?
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 ROme did not influence america, only modern conservatives admire rome, the founding fathers did not get their influence from Rome, since in rome the people had few rights, rome was a militaristic oligarchy were the rich openly controlled public affairs.
Republics become oligarchies, rome was a fucking oligarchy, look at scandinavia, it is way less corrupt than most of the republics, even america, and they have KINGS for god sake, read about politics!
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside in ancient Athens woman were uneducated and remain secluded in their homes slaves were treated badly foreigners can't vote nor gain any political power hmmm democracy is meant for men not for anyone. these are rich male Athenians control the government but you blame Rome for being rich and noble please. in oligarchy Sparta woman have rights and freedoms just as men could.
you hate Rome but you love Athens remember dude the wealthy Athenians don't care about the poor
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 So you mean that in the republic of rome, women were discriminated against in republics such as the republic of venice, the netherlands, switzerland etc etc compared to modern democracies, your "example" is kinda lame.
When did I say I love athens? Sparta was a shitty macho oligarchy compared to modern democracies dude, bad example yet again, sparta was also highly anti-intellectual, is that a good thing?
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@americanliberal09Where did I say that I love athens?
Athens was a democracy, however sweden today is also a democracy, sweden DOES NOT discriminate against women, or foreigners. You example is lame, a democracy is shaped by the people, if the people are uneducated and dumb, they take away rights, if they are educated and caring like swedes, they give rights.
Owned, go read about politics dude.

Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside and why you call me a retard like your being under attacked. i'm just criticizing you bro no harsh feelings. and no i'm retarded i know what is a democracy is and isn't. democracy doesn't guarantee freedom because to order to be free somebody have to vote for your freedom.
in a republic your rights and your liberty are given for free without having to vote.
i hate voting for special interest groups seriously they keep controlling everything geez. voting is lame
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside and were are not about liberal democrats nor conservatives republicans but both of them suck anyway they don't produce any good results. democracy is a utopia that never progress on people right's. but instead special interest groups use ignorant voters to get them elected to control them. i hate democracy is always about winning a popularity vote but never fixing any problems.
people can become tyrants without a state trust me i see minorities get bullied by the many alot
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside have you heard of socialist republics as well?
hmmm liberal democrats are nothing but an oligarchy to me no different from conservatives. but thanks to democracy we have to keep voting for endless of political parties to win over each other for votes but not the people. this is chaos dude i don't see how any society function like this. it's a sum zero game popular party will be the winner and the unpopular will be the loser. i supporting republican values why cuz it works
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 No, conservatives supports an oligarchy more than liberal democrats, again look at the republican conservative fox news who scream blasphemy when someone say "tax the rich" and LOVE anti capitalistic corporatism. Yet again you show your ignorance in politics. Now look at liberal msnbc, MUCH MORE leaned towards the poor and the middle class, fox news DESPISE the middle class and the poor.
Okay I thought you said "they suck" now you say "it works", good logic.
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside democracy is about popular votes and bailouts access that's it.
sweden has constitutional monarchy. but i'm not talking about sweden treating their woman
i'm talking about how democracy can only be meant for the majority kind of people not for everyone
of course people are free to elect their leaders but that doesn't mean it's good.
the politician they elect can do betray the people and brake promises.
i really don't see anything great about it.
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 And a republic is what? No you're talking about athens treating their women, totally IGNORING their position. As I said but you are keeping ignoring this: USA use democracy to elect their leaders.
SO what should a state adopt? A dictatorhship? Minority rules majority? You haven't given ANY solution, you just say that "majority ruling is bad, herpadeprdeprderpprrrrf"
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 Yeah, sweden is a constitutional democracy, totally pawning US when it comes to corruption. OOOOOOOOOOOPS, conservative alarm! lie about it! Lie lie lie!
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 Yeah and a republic can also take away rights of others: Rome hated foreigners, a lot of foreigners weren't considered "roman citizens" even though a lot of them were born in Rome, the senate consisted of old men, no women there, rich people had the senate in the pockets, oligarchy. Ancient times.
And how should a a country be governed? The state deciding over it's people through dictatorship, nothing can go wrong? Minority ruling over majority? Is that more fitting for you?
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside rome never hated foreigners they allow other culures to come their city and have their own religion. c'mon romans learn from other cultures beside of their own. they learn it from the greeks and other oriental cultures. they were kind of the melting pot just like america.
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside sweden is dominated by muslims now imposing the the sharia law you want to keep talking about sweden owning america?.
just remember tyrants can be chosen by the people.
how you like it if democracy is only meant for christians and not for atheist, pagans nor jews.
majority of christians can decide what rights should you have by the bible and nobody likes that.
now tell me if you love living in a society were the majority can tell what to do?
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 Sweden does not have sharia laws, you're only showing what kind of person you are: A sad stereotypical retarded fat american hates muslims, who doesn't know shit about other countries other than what fox news tell you.
Muslims in sweden doesn't even have their own political party because they are not experienced with that kind of stuff, god you're so fucking retarded. Aren't you ashamed of your ignorance? You're not even bothering to write PROPER ENGLISH sometimes!
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside dude i'm not fat i'm skinny thank you very much. Muslims in europe are rioting and enforcing the sharia law it's not a joke they want to dominate. americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 Living in Sweden, currently on this day, there were no muslim riots, stop being such a fat american racist lol.
"Muslims are evil herpaderpaderp, even though they allowed christians to exist in the ottoman empire while no muslims were allowed in christian europe.
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside look at hong kong for an example when they were controlled by the British and make them obey the common laws their was no democracy but their are free to produce what ever they want without having to vote because the British have a respect for property rights but when the British left china gain hong kong back and slip democracy they lost all their freedoms by voting.
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside in the middle ages it was mostly monarchy dude.
democracy has no separation of powers nor lawyers but a republic has all this that democracy doesn't have.
look at ancient athens they created democracy but woman, slaves and foregners don't have any rights nor they were free. in athens democracy is only meant for men not for woman nor slaves. this form of government ruled by the many and you call that freedom?
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 The republic of venice
The republic of Novgorod
Florence
Yeah because in a democracy, the people decide government. It is the best kind of government that makes common opinion, rather than oligarchy and dictators, decide the government. Because do you know a better way to rule a country? Name one, how should the people elect their leaders? Athens had more insight in their government than the Republic of rome, who by the way became a monarchy. Lol!
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside how come woman in athens can't vote
how come woman can't engage in politics but only men could.
what about slavery in athens? did you ignore that?
in rome woman have rights
in sparta woman were free to do whatever they want than athens.
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside what about socrates whom was killed by the majority of the people?
you don't think democracy kills people?
the athenians kill socrates because he was questioning everybody and they want him to shut up.
in a republican government make sure the neither the elite nor the majority rule over power.
the people are not smart to run the government trust me people think what thinks it's right but they fuck it up.
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside a true republic doesn't become an oligarchy nor a majority rule. it 's a rule of law that protects the people freedoms and rights without having to vote.
why should people vote for special interest groups to gain what they want?
60% of people vote on to ban gay marriage, 50% of people vote on to banning smoking you call this equality?. i see alot of western democratic countries treat the minorities unfairly because they are unpopular
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 A true republic can become a oligarchy and a majority rule. The roman republic was an oligarchy all the time, again you don't know what a republic is. DId you know that there have been republican dictatorships?
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside america has become a culture of dependence because the people rely on their government to do everything instead of doing things on their own. this country is run by socialist now and were broke of this mixed economy. i think it's about time to abolished democracy once and for all.
it might be an oligarchy to you but to us republicans it's freedom.
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 "america has become a culture of dependence because the people rely on their government to do everything instead of doing things on their own."
Are you serious? The government was totally okay with slavery and apartheid, do you know how long it took the glorious american government to realize that blacks were equal?
A state deciding everything is not freedom, it's a dictatorship. No matter what you say, america has always had democratic elections, within the republic.
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
Respond to this video... no not really i truly support a limited government were the it leaves the people alone so they can freedom without having to vote. i'm not a tyrant nor oligarch either i'm republican that truly believes in economic freedoms and personal freedoms for the people.
another thing is when i say america become the culture of depedence i really mean that the people rely on political parties to control their lives and choices
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 And how should the political parties be elected? By the state? People voting = Democracy, learn about democracy, direct and representative, ffs.
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@americanliberal09 "were broke of this mixed economy" America is SOON TO BE broke because of its steroid overextended military. You are having military bases all over the world, america is also broke because of big corporations getting a lot of money although they are bad at running them. Some get fat bonuses even though their corporations are doing bad, because the elite only cares about corporate infrastructure, the corporate empire, this has nothing to do with socialism or capitalism.
Imhornydadcomeinside 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside o.k gosh relax man i'm just giving out facts and you act all hostile for no reason. you "sigh" what america is right now not republican government anymore we still have a representative democracy which forms too many political parties taken over. who let the big banks and the huge coorperations take over? republicans and democrates who let their government screw things over the people
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside do you think massive groups tell each other what to do all the time? you can live in a society of masses of people and they still tell what to do. democracy never appeared in the U.S constitution nor the federalist papers.
i suggest you should watch republic vs democracy by auntieZionist probably you can get an clear picture what a republic truly is i hope it helps
americanliberal09 6 months ago
@Imhornydadcomeinside i don't support political parties both of them do the same thing the more you vote the more you get same trust me these parties will keep lying to them and aid big corporations
i don't like the state to run everything either but i support individual rights for the people so they can governed their lives on their own without government telling them what to do it's really simple it's not that hard
do you still get this dude?

Fuctmentality 9 months ago
@Fuctmentality where are you getting this democracy from?? for a hundred years, we didnt even elect national senators.. only our state senators. how is it that 1/3 of the government, Congress. automatically deems our nation's government as a democracy? do our votes for the president put the president in office? no, thats the electoral college, how about the judicial branch?? umm no we dont vote for supreme court justices. only the legislative branch is a democracy, kinda.. please..
nintendude60 9 months ago
@nintendude60 The dictionary. Even before the 17th amendment it still was a form of representative democracy as federal representatives were voted on by state representatives. Yes, in most states it does & in every state the electoral college is an elected IE democratic body. The legislative branch is the one that makes laws, dipshit. What you are saying is I can't call it a cheeseburger, I have to call it ground beef on a bun with cultured milk.

Democracy makes no sense. Majority rules is such a juvenile system. If America really held true to it's republican roots (I am not talking about the political party), there would be a 2/3 vote for all the things we vote on. 51 percent should NOT be the benchmark of what the people want.

So?
23SHEVEK 11 months ago

Please research via Wikipedia, if it's easiest.
TheCuriousCreature 1 year ago
@TheCuriousCreature
WRONG! A Republic has been described by James Madison as a "representative democracy", but he was not saying it is a kind of democracy. There are significant differences, which this is one of the only instances where a founder compared the US to a democracy -not that he didn't call it a democracy ever.
Take the "representative" out of "representative democracy" and you have something that is totally different than a Republic.
rabidfox1 1 year ago
@TheCuriousCreature
"representative" makes it not a democracy.
rabidfox1 1 year ago
@rabidfox1 Oh wow, I just replied to you on a different video I think. Again, there may be a misunderstanding on what I'm saying, but I want to first recommend you to look up Republic, Liberal Democracy and Democracy on Wikipedia. A "Democracy" is simply defined as "rule of the people", of which there are considered two types ~ Direct and Representative. The U.S. form of Republic is considered a Representative Democracy (more specifically, a Liberal Democracy).
TheCuriousCreature 1 year ago
mop rule lol when it comes to propositions yes but we simply vote for a senators and if they are dems or reps when it comes to voting which every has more in office will win but even dems this year voted for against health care some do it to keep a seat so it can go up in the air.

I don't care whether america is democratic or not. but america should not intervene other countries by war. iraq war was completely unnecessary. results of the iraq war is quite many death of innocent civilians. if america want to change autocratic country to democratic, china should be first target.
CrikeyOldSport 1 year ago
You should care, if you would actually listen to people and maybe read our constituion or declaration of Independence, you might. Of course most "Democrats" won't listen to an opposing view or consider they might be wrong. Yes our politicians are mostly corrupt, but that is up to us to change when we vote. Of course you may have to "Vote" by your conscience instead of your pocketbook or what you may believe which Politician will benefit you most Monetarily.
EvoSoftail 1 year ago
@CrikeyOldSport, actually it was necessary as Saddam had violated the terms of the first gulf war cease fire dozens of times, and ignored at least 13 UN resolutions in the years after the 1st gulf war. Any one of those violations were technically a declaration of war by IRAQ upon USA and its ALLIES. Regardless of if they had WMD or not (Saddam hinted he had them), any one of these issues were a declaration by Saddam, ending the peace and demanding miltary force against him and his regime.
jacobew2000 1 year ago
do your research before u say thing you don't know what your talking about.

Lawmakers control a republic. Since they are not really bound by any higher external 3rd party institution, they may theoretically function in a lawless manner. The law maker is effectively and seemingly paradoxically "above the law". For since they have a monopoly on law, they may theoretically interpret it and defy it as they please. The law is not binding on them. Rather, the law's content and applicability is actually bound to their whims as the ones with power. Again, Oligarchy
quicksiliva 2 years ago
That is simply false...the founders shared your concerns exactly and tried to make a document to separate power. Law makers simply do not have a monopoly on law, just ask the States, Supreme Court, or the Executive. True, they have a lot of power and become corrupt, but us Americans simply don't have the "pleasure" of living in a true oligarchy.
Gyrode 2 years ago

Krshwunk 2 years ago
United States is a Democratic-Republic. The majority is allowed to vote on issues such as prop 8 in California only if the government allows them to. The reason the United States is a republic is to protect the rights of minorities.
TruthSeeker1988 2 years ago
Yes, but the problem is TruthSeeker is that the Liberal Media in your country most of the time only recognizes the former and not the latter. In the cartoon: "American Dad" for example, you can always hear Stan Smith saying "Democracy have triumphed again..". Sound bites like that sometimes brings confusion to this issue of what kind of government you have.
ManilaCoolCat 2 years ago 2
no it's to protect the rights of everybody. Government doesn't care if you're a minority or not, tyranny is tyranny. Granted it does protect the rights of minorities but everybody else too.

TinaBopperM 2 years ago
In a constitutional republic the individual citizens rule.
In a constitutional republic the government exists to protect the sovereignty of the citizens.
In a constitutional republic the government establishes a bureaucracy to carry out the will of the citizens, to legislate the protection of their sovereignty, and to regulate all other entities that exist in the nation, such as corporations, so as to ensure that no other entity infringes on the citizens' sovereignty.

Making this argument to me is kind of a waste. You can find articles describing a "republic" that are way off of what America is. I'm not saying the video is wrong, our government is what it is. Calling it a democracy is mainly just trying to emphasize that the people have power in the government. Which we still definitely do.

Democracies always lead to dictatorships.

The U.S.A. was created as a REPUBLIC not a democracy, but operating on democratic principles. Each state with it's sovereign rights, independent nations representing it's citizens closely. This was to insure that the central gov't(represented by the minority) could not dictate to the states(represented by the majority"the people") individual rights and liberties.
Benjamin Franklin when asked what type of gov't they had created?"A republic if they can keep it"
America has failed.
