  • Oh troubles

oh Troubles you been a Part of me

oh troubles My Pain Is Your Pleasure

Oh troubles I drank your poison

Oh troubles all you bring is misery

Oh troubles For my soul has had enough troubles,

Oh troubles i dont need you any more,

Oh troubles you dont have to be part of my life

    A short poem

  • Such an amazing boy, there is more expression in his voice than many adult actors...

    and such a great diction.

  • haters would unlike .. I love him .. he's great !

  • y is um... there 34 dislikes? who could dislike him he is sooo cute!!!!!!11

  • there is simply NO WAY a normal child could have remembered all that and had the attention or focus to rexite it all. your child is TRULY brilliant and i hope you do everything you can to nourish this gift. it seems like you are doing excellent. it should be quite amazing to watch what this guy does in life.

  • I just died, awwww <3 I want a son like that . Kay thanks (:

  • adorable mind

  • UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

  • WOW!x

  • What an amazing, precocious kid with an innate understanding of poetic verse and rhythm; love the way he ended the poem,, with emphasis and a smile Thanks for sharing his gift with us. Bravo to you two!

  • amazing ;)

  • So sincere and lovely. Now this poem will always remeber him you and his childhood. What a precious gift!

  • oh man.. he got distracted by that toys.. but continue to recite like nothing happen.. I wish I had that kind of concentration.. in class, fly always got me.

  • OH LOOK ANOTHER BABY VIDEO

  • Oh my.

  • you can tell by his inflection that he actually understands it too!

  • Ha! He was begging to hear it again and again, no whipping involved!

  • Jesus! How many times did you have to whip him so he'd get this right?!

  • @mcmuffinone

    ...That's not even funny.

  • My kids are dopes.

  • i'm obsessed

  • Wow u r amazing!

  • Very bright is an understatement. No offence.

  • Wow. I am amazed! He is so precious!!!

  • This is wonderful. It's so great that you're teaching your son to value poetry.

  • A-MA-ZING!

I hope my kids are as smart as yours is at this age.

    Just incredible.

  • This totally made my life! Keep this kid going, memorizing, reciting, performing! He's fantastic and the love of poetry is best nurture young!

  • "There's just NO WAY you are the pine scented air.."

I love how sincerely concerned he looks when he says this.

    Too precious.

  • WOW!! Truly an amazing kid!!

  • 3 years old? VERY impressive, I see a future in school plays for this one. If by chance he takes requests I'd love to hear him try Dylan Thomas' Good Night.

  • I don't understand the poem. Anyone care to explain?

  • Wow! This is going to be extremely useful to him when he's in high school and college! Lucky!

  • WOW. Very clever

  • how long will this kid be 3?

  • why would anyone dislike this :s

  • Incredible! How about getting kids interest by slipping movie clips over poetry? What do you think... do youtube search for "POETRY TO MOVIES BY NOWDY.COM" (Grace Kelly to Lord Byron... Audrey Hepburn to Shakespeare... Ingrid Bergman to Elizabeth Barrett Browning... then the story of the same ladies, at the end of their lives).

  • luv it....inspirational for us old folks. ;)

  • I love the way he says, "But don't worry, you are still the bread and the knife!"

    This is absolutely fantastic!

    Your son is very bright.

Thank you so much for that!

  • He is amazing!

  • Wow.

This kid is such a nerd.

  • @CountArtha and youre a douchebag

  • i can't get enough of this video. i want to say a million good things about it, but i'm almost speechless!

  • Amazing :) This made my day :)

  • I adore this child...

  • Thumbs up if Gerry sent you here.

  • awwwwwwwwwwww <3

  • I'm in a creative writing class, and we watched this so that our teacher could say "This kid is three and can memorize this poem. You are 14 and can't memorize poems that you write? I don't think so."

  • When I am having a bad day I listen to this... over and over. Love it, bless his heart. <3

  • what a talented little boy I will look for more of his talent! verrry cute...

  • I always return to this post just to hear him say "...maybe even the PINJIN on the general's hat"...hahaha, may he grow to be a writer of happy, funny poems. Don't let him read Phillip Larkin, above all, make him happy all the time!

  • If you listen to this, Sad song (violin) 23 and Rainymood - Sleeping sound (without music) it will sound soooo emotional

  • MY FAVORITE PART: " And you are certainly not the pine-scented air....there's just no way YOU are the pine-scented air" (Cue those adorable innocent eyes). So cute <3

  • Your son is brilliant, I hope he grows up to write poetry as beautiful and inspiring as Billy Collins! This video made my night!

  • LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!!

  • Wow this is terrible. Kid has no sense of pace and comedic timing. You would have no idea that this is written in a tongue in cheek tone if you only heard this version.

  • @Friggly123 Wow this is terrible. Commenter has no sense of adorableness and the abilities of the average three year old. You would have no idea that this is an amazing kid reading an amazing poem if you only read this comment.

  • Oh my wow! This is amazing!

  • 5. the latter employs the correlation fallacy (bad/flawed logic) ("You are like this therefore you are this.")

    6. baseless assertion that all criminals are evil.

    7. random reference to George Bush (wtf?)

    8. baseless assertion that all politicians are worse than criminals.

    9. baseless assertion that I am like a politician.

    10. in its entirety, a meaningless statement overall.

none of these are acceptable. They display utter failure in logic and grammar.

come back when you can think like an adult.

  • @ShijinDrake 1. nope learnt it from a teacher so its fine 2. who cares? u get the point 3. r u a plural? 4. specific set of criminals are politicians. 5. making up words again 6. thats why they r criminals. watch law and order 7. u r as evil as george bush for hating on a kid 8. they r deal with it. 9. not like u r 10. u r meaningless overall

  • @mtWHITE100 1. You did not learn this from a teacher. No teacher prmotes bad grammar. I am not hating on a kid, that is you, unless you are a kid, which would explain the imbecility. :) It is you that insists upon insulting this three year old.

    get a dictionary, please.

  • @ShijinDrake so could only respond to one of em while left speechless by the other points. dont be ashamed i have that effect on people. and imbecolity? not even a word get an oxford dictionary

  • @mtWHITE100 1. "then" is used in reference to sequences and chronology. Ex. "I did this, then that." not for comparsons, where "than" is used.

    2. There is no such word as "worser"

    3. polticians is plural and therefore should not be preceded by the indefinite article, "a" (or should not be plural)

    4. The use of a definite article before "criminals" (i.e. "the") refers to a specific set of criminals, which have not entered into the conversation.

    5. (contd.)

  • @mtWHITE100 All I can say to that is: if you ever considered yourself well spoken or intelligent, please have someone explain all of the errors in that sentence, in both rationality and grammar.

  • @mtWHITE100 *snickers*

    simpleton.

  • @ShijinDrake im glad you can snicker on the internet

  • I'm glad that snicker is one of the few words in the English language of which you don't deny the existence. Probably because of the candy bar, though. That'd be where you learned your words.

  • @ShijinDrake i dont think many words come from candy bars where im from .

  • @mtWHITE100 another example of failed reasoning and linguistic inability. well done.

  • @ShijinDrake *ding ding ding* K.O.. and this round is won by ShijinDrake!!!

I just had to write that, because it's wrong to be bashing a little boy reciting a beautiful poem.

I believe in this situation, if you don't like it, then don't comment.

Also, the little boy is such a performer and actor. He really knows what he's saying and there's a sence of sincerity in his voice. Insulting a three-year-old is simply low.

  • @wanderlust342 XD thanks. I know there are many trolls on youtube, but insulting a a tree year old who's memorized a poem without rhyme or rhythm for help is just not right. It's also nice to see a parent introducing their child to poetry at such a young age. There is really nothing to be insulted here.

  • @ShijinDrake as i said im not insulting anyone

  • @wanderlust342 u proabaly didnt learn english until 10

  • @ShijinDrake just shutup i hate the tone ur giving me mister

  • @mtWHITE100 all you have to do is stop replying. You were, in fact insulting a three year old. You took more than a few comments to deny this.

You realized how severely and utterly outclassed you are in this conversation. Then, you tried to cop out. You're trash. You don't insult a three year old. That is not right at all.

And wanderlust342 is far more articulate than you. You don't have to fling insults at someone who encourages the defense of a child. You're an imbecile. Accept it, move on.

  • I hope that whenever I have a child, it will be this smart.

  • So adoreable :)

  • what the fuck?

  • @mtWHITE100 and badly quoted cliches XD

    I pity you.

  • @mtWHITE100 apologize to the three year old, simpleton. you can post that without a reply. You've proven that you do not belong in a conversation with me. You simply can't keep up.

  • This is too precious.

  • He has an amazing memory!

  • omggggggg how adorable!

  • great video, thanks for the upload!

  • He recites this poem like a pro!

  • I'm looking forward to the poetic evolution this boy will bring. Stories in the paper speak of censorship and ignorance - if only we all taught our children as well as this.

  • lol all kids should learn sarcastic poetry

  • I call dibs on marrying him.

  • GENIUS!

  • @mtWHITE100 : Really? You did? Hmm. I'm kinda doubting it, as you aren't even able to "talk" properly now.

  • @sarahellendavis what does that mean? u can only ready my comment u cant hear me talk your comment doesnt make sense so i can easily assume ur a fail grad student

  • @mtWHITE100 "fail grad student?" *chuckles* I'm succeeding as a grad student, if that was in question--you know what can happen when we make assumptions! All I meant was that you can't even be bothered to type complete words or use punctuation or apostrophes and yet, you are here criticizing someone's 3-year-old child. I am doubtful that your speech was much more developed at 3 years than this child's and was implying that you should regard your own abuse of English before criticizing his.

  • @sarahellendavis what is this?? did u get ur mother to come talk all official like on me??? get the other person back so he/she can stand up FOR HIM/HERSELVE

  • @mtWHITE100 I am certain that this three year old has memorized more poems in his rather short lifetime than you have in yours. It might also interest you to know that he is three years old, and that thirty six month milestone is only the cusp of intelligibility. Not, three months later, he at least has the colloquial capability of memorizing an adult poem without the crutches of meter and rhythm and rhyme.

In short, laymen terms (as you require) for the love of god, he's three. pipe down.

  • @ShijinDrake i dont like ur tone at all its disgracefull and the fact u believe in ur own assumptions is what ruined ur crediblilty

  • @mtWHITE100 Prove it. And by that I mean: form a clear and rational argument. Otherwise, pipe down. I'm not sure that I should expect very much from a man who defends insulting a child. That is what is disgraceful here, not any conjecture relating to your cognitive ability. (though your use of the English language is rather indicative, and I will accept the null hypothesis on this)

On a side note: why are you so intent upon insulting a three year old?

Do you do this outside elementary schools?

  • @ShijinDrake firstly that parapragh is full of made up words that only u can understand. im just saying that i talked as well as he could and i dont get my credit and no im in uni studying accounting so yeh im getting somewhere in life unlike u!

  • @mtWHITE100 Oh I laughed. How am I getting nowhere in life, now? Am I the one insulting children?

I don't think you'll get very far if you don't recognize words in the English language beyond those in your relatively limited vocabulary.

I think you can rest, knowing that you have completely proven the null hypothesis with your persistent ignorance and imbecility.

  • @ShijinDrake OMG stop making up words. and im not insulting the childrens. im just saying i could do what that kid could do at his age. also i dont need every comment of mind to display the full spectrum of the english vocabulary. maybe u do and maybe thats why ur self esteem is nowhere to be found

  • @mtWHITE100 Yes, clearly words that appear in the dictionary but are unfamiliar to you are "made up," and this assumption does not imply that you have a very limited vocabulary. (insert sarcastic intonation)

No, you came on here to demean the performance of a child, a fledgeling at best. I suggest taking your attitude toward children to a daycare, as they would happily have you arrested for harassment and child abuse.

Grow up, read a dictionary, stop relying on netspeak.

  • @ShijinDrake 'a fledgeling' i believe itts pronounced 'fledgining'. wow no way would they arrest me its an opinion which im allowed to have lol at harrassment who am i harrasing by exercising my bragging rights. you really like to exaggerate stuff dont u? i guess all kids do that

  • @mtWHITE100 A quit look at the dictionary will reveal how few bragging rights you possess. I'm fairly certain that some imbecile running about a daycare hurling insults at children would suffer repercussion.

Are you really trying to brag about your colloquial ability at three years old? If so, I should be less aggressive, because that would make you a person for whom I feel very sorry. It's sad that you need to address your abilities at the age of three in order to feel important.

  • @ShijinDrake omgoodness 'a quit' u harp on alll the time about spelling yet u still suffer from grammar errors. calling me an imbecile is extremely judgemental and reflects poorly on you so the kids would have my sympathy. also they r not insults and they would persevere harder if i did brag.

    i dont need your sympathy.

  • @mtWHITE100 Nonetheless I am very sorry that you do not have anything you can brag about beyond the age of three.

I have never harped on you for spelling, you have called my words that are, in fact, words firmly rooted in the English language for centuries "made up" and "fake."

Did you know that language is controlled by the left frontal lobe of the brain? Logic, reasoning and mathematic processes are controlled here, as well. Judging by this conversation, you won't survive as an accountant.

  • @ShijinDrake ohh dude im having hard time passing some of my units and you go ahead and crush my dreams like that with lack of faith. im hurt congratulations you have succeeded at trolling me

  • @mtWHITE100 That's not lack of faith, it's a logical deduction. If you're having this much trouble reasoning and recognizing words, you're likely having trouble with math. And no, I'm not trolling, I'm calling someone out who insults a three year old then tries to play it off.

Just tell the kid you're sorry.

  • @ShijinDrake sorry kid

  • @mtWHITE100 and you are, in fact, an imbecile. I've never been called judgmental for calling a duck a duck.

When you're down to harping on typos, I think it's time to quit.

  • He is incredible. Someone just showed this video to me and I have shared it with everyone I know. To think of a 3 year old with that kind of capacity just temps me to instill the passion into my own daughter

  • This is INCREDIBLE!!!! Oh my GOSH! I can't believe it! What an Amazing Child! 8) Thanks for posting/sharing!!!

  • yes he's a genius. I was amazed and would find myself in trouble memorizing that poem. As a child I had awards in memorizing even had my speech for my graduation as an honor student, but seemed like my memory weakens in the process. Great job baby boy :) God bless you

  • In an time when most people have become alienated from poetry, this little sweet boy shines upon us all.

  • awesome

  • I'll be using this in class to teach metaphors. My students will surely love him~ I wish your family good health and happiness~ May that kid grow up with his innocence unbroken, and his imagination unbridled~

  • I wouldn't be able to memorize this poem. I feel... Defeated. but surprisingly happy a 3 year old is possibly smarter than me.

  • So So Sweet!! What a smart little boy! He speaks so well and so clearly! Amazing.

  • I find myself grinning throughout this entire video :)

  • So lovely and amazing! Thank you for sharing that!

  • I hope this gets to Mr. Collins if it hasn't already. A new generation appreciating great beautiful poetry! What a wonderful recitation and a wonderful little boy.

  • so cute

  • Wow! Did he learn it by repeating after you or can he read some?

  • Smart kid!

  • Your son is truly the shooting star...

  • why?

  • I can't hear it often enough. Just perfect! I used to recite poems for my son but it is such a good idea to memorize them. They will stay with him all his life.

  • Comment removed

  • whenever i have a down day, i watch this and all is right with the world again. thank you for sharing your precious son's beautiful rendition of this poem.

  • You are blessed! What a sweet soul, and such talent!

  • A puppy for a poem?

    My kingdom for a horse!

    A commerce or a passion?

    A slash without remorse.

    A mother for a poet!

A home to love and grow

    (away from all instructors)

    To harvest, and to sow.

  • I never want to hear this poem recited by anyone else.

  • Beautiful!

  • the cutest, purest thing i ever seen. and what a lovely poem.

  • Precious, smart, and one of a kind little poet.

  • This kid is going to get with so many women in his time.

  • How long did it take for him to memorize this? Did he just turn 3 here? How many months old is he here?

  • @Faygo069 He was 3 years and 3 months when I took this video. We're not sure exactly how long it took him to memorize this one, but not longer than a week.

  • @drchelpka

    your son is genius mam

  • wow. What a poetic genius

  • this is... without a doubt... my favorite youtube video of all time. I come back to it time and again to remind myself about what is good in this world. Thank you for sharing your sweet son with us, and this wonderful poem recited by him... it is something so special! My absolute favorite part is where he gets tongue tied at the word 'imagery'. Little one, you are the stars and the rain and the newspaper and all the good things that so many of us take for granted. Again, Thank you for sharing!

  • i downloaded the audio of this so i can listen to it everywhere i go.

  • WOW! That is great. i love poetry. i love children and i love bright talkative children. What a great kid you have. amazing and neato!

has he learned any Lewis Carroll?

  • He's a precocious youngster, but lots of children, if given the encouragement and opportunity, could accomplish similar feats. Thank you for sharing this!

  • This is amazing !!!!!

  • My eyes are filled with tears. This is a brilliant child. Thank you for sharing this video.

WOW!!! i can not believe it..... You are awesome parents too. :-)

  • Watching this video made my day. Thank you!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I love it and he is gorgeous!

  • so cool :)

  • this is so freaking cute. I learned this in university and he does it better than me! :)

  • ppl say the only reason he knows it is cuz hes listened to it so much but it is lovely poetry, not a mcdonalds commercial or a swear word, he is reciting a poem he has heard and its amazing

  • My brain, it explodes with awesomeness.

  • I just can't get enough of this! Thank you so much for sharing! I'm ready for his next oration!

  • You deserve the mother of the year award. I hope I can be as good a mother as you are someday.

  • Nice work, little man. Thanks for posting this, Mom. Hearing this little poet in training brought me to tears and made me hopeful for our future generations. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • You ROCK, little guy!! Can't wait to hear the poetry you will write someday.

  • Amazing! He says it with the proper inflection, too!

  • litany is my favorite poem of all time, and to see this little man reciting it so well at such a young age is so beautiful, i've watched this video a million times!!! its the cutest thing in the world!

  • Our poetry/English/writing teacher showed us this video in class. Very cute boy you have. It's funny, I usually get annoyed by kids! Geez, this changed my mind, eh? ^.^

  • I love billy collins and just 2 days ago listened to a cd of him reciting his poetry. Your son did at least as well as Billy! I hope Billy sees this. It is wonderful!

  • Comment removed

  • Cute

  • If you encourage him to recite lots of writing like that, he could develop the ability to memorize whole books. Giving the right amo
