The Sandy Bridges are much more economical and efficient than the i7 970/980/990x processors.. but those are still the high-end intel CPUs, and are still more powerful than the i7 2600k. The Ivy Bridges will be the replacement for the Extreme i7 900s.
everytime i see computer illiterates buy this stuff i just cry because thats when they end up throwing it away at the dump a year later because "it was starting to run very slow"
@aparach You do realize that GPUs are *vastly* more capable at multi-threaded, highly parallel processing, right? Intel recently released a statement that "GPUs are *only* 14 times more powerful than CPUs at this point". Check out CUDA processing. A lot of massive scientific type projects are moving towards GPU computing via CUDA, etc.
@2point6x4 For about the same price (well, a little more) you can get an i3 530 that will run circles around your chip (for everything - gaming included). There are some very good price/perf AMD chips, but that's not one of them. Not that it's a bad chip, just not the best for your comparison. I don't understand blind brand loyalty.
Like he said it gives the best in terms of price and performance, just about anyone will be happy with that cpu. 980x is a beast i agree with that lol.
i got a i7 920 D0 @4.2ghz i was thinking about getting this but since 95% of all games dont support quad cores so why would you have 6 cores ? also it wont overclock as high as the quad cores and the price is extreme since in most games it will just run like a single or dual core
@mathhenr yes that was the powerfull cpu ever:P!, but on tpb was that .iso of fedora core and when i installed it and pressed ctrl+alt+del it says; core 0, core1 ,core2 and core3
@123456789sha Dude, Cell is very far from being the most powerful CPU ever. In fact, any Wolfdale-based processor would outperform it on home user setups. And Cell only has one core, the 3.2 GHz PPE. It would be understandable if a OS detected its two threads, but four is just ridiculous.
You should look for a CBEA article or its page on Wikipedia so you have a clue next time you comment something like this.
u Know on Game that Core is dont So good this I7 is for graphics
but dont worry i ear intel gonna do a new core call I9 on the I9 we can pay less and on games she will be good but not on graphics but to is awsome cause is got 6 core on 3.3ghz
if you were drunk and high and 3 years old... and a blind deaf dumb hermit from Russia that only spoke Arabic - that might explain why your comment is so poorly written...
nope, cryengine3 is superior than ce2 cos it adds support for way more features like dynamic volumetric for lights, multicore support, DX11 api support and also adds support for developers for porting to consoles, while ce2 wasnt directed to console developers, so developers can take advantage of features for consoles, and can take advantage for all the api's for PC.
So cs2 is like 100% PC support

What does the cache do? I never know what that is when I'm shopping for PCs.
GeekingForJesus 1 year ago
CACHE is a component that transparently stores data so that future requests for that data can be served faster.
lapulapu12345 1 year ago
@lapulapu12345 So is there a really noticeable difference between an 8MB cache and a 12MB cache?

When you have this many cores/threads, it can definitely help if the program will use them.

the most powerfull pc/console what i used was the PS3, with linux and a special patch to unlock 4 cores
123456789sha 1 year ago
@123456789sha The most powerful hardware you used was the $60 Cell chip the PS3 uses? You know, we do have options beyond Celeron and Sempron.
Also, how did you "unlock 4 cores" if the only core Cell has is its single PPE?
