i still have a 89 se as my every day driver. does about 300k's a week no problem. 5 speed manual and it will have almost all other 4 cylinder cars off the lone. very smooth and comfey too with the se trim and seats. much easier to drive than my mothers BA Fairmont giah.
so me a ford or dunnydoor thats 22 years old and still better to drive than a 06 Ba Fairmont!
both the magnas i have anything to do with have the 2.6L EFI engine, with the good auto transmissions in them and they knwo how to get up and boogy when kicked back to second.
i hated those magnas, they look like they were designed on a friday before a long weekend and the astron II (not fucking 4) is a terrible engine. No guts at all.
I would take that falcon full of dog hair before that magna.
@Paiste402 You tell that to my 89 TP Magna that flat towed my mums old 1998 EL Falcon up hill after the motor had shat it self, If it was up to me I would have left the falcon on the side of the highway. Now I'm laughing since it's at the Wreckers, The wreckers still over paid for it got $90 for it and that was $90 to much for the falcon, last Magna I scrapped which was half bare I got $200 for that and it was an 86 TM
Yeah, won Car of the Year in 85. I love how when he says: "... streets ahead of anything from Ford, Holden, Toyota, and Nissan... ", they show the Magna overtaking a Camry wagon & Falcon wagon!
Pity the TM-TP models were so outright bland... at least they fixed that on the beautiful TR-TS... before going back to the ugly brick shape on the TE--> models.
4 cylinder Magna engines are indeed flexible and torquey, and have amazing acceleration from a standstill. MMAL really did have a good all-rounder in the Magna series.

Yep, it's bloody amazing being whisked to 100km/h in 12 seconds flat.
