you don't want your hips flying out. in fact, proper power comes from driving your back knee at the baseball. at contact, your back knee should be parallel to the ground and up on your toe. google pics of major league hitters at contact point to see what i mean. and trust me, i played D-1 baseball and i am an instructor in Las Vegas
Are you sure it has nothing to do with posterior chain and utilizing lower body range of motion rather than trying to power your swing with your knee that gets major league hitters into that position?
Same theory. Different terminology. It all comes from lower body. But your hips don't fly out away from your body. I'm using the reference of the knee so you can visually see the correct position you should be in at contact.
Yeah, but you don't physically drive your knee at the ball since it disrupts kinetic link. Just because you look like a pro, doesnt mean you're actually doing what a pro is doing. For example, your arms can be in the correct position at the point of contact, but a hitter could still have a tight upper body and try to generate force with there upper body, thus not utilizing kinetic link from there lower body to it's maximum potential. Also college coaches make shit, top trainers dont want the job
terrible.. explain to me how you can spin on your back foot, which makes your front shoulder fly out, and still stay on the baseball? i really hope kids do not watch this and try to learn from it.. watch a big leaguer, NO ONE's swing looks anything similar to this.. if your gonna learn from someone, learn from the best.. watch big leaguer, not guys who have no pro experience, learn from the guys that are where you want to be someday...
this is a GREAT way to get you to stirke out 95% of the time in high school. spinning like that gets you fucked on the outside hooks.. good luck hitting if your learning from this chump. look up chase utley.

So what if the pitcher throws a curveball on the outside corner. Looks like you are pretty fucked.

@soxpatsicecream7 hips go with your hands so as long as your not out on your front foot you should be fine.

To the maker of the video: Nice job practicing with an aluminum bat. No good hitters spend there time practicing with an aluminum bat.
