I would give my left nut an arm half of my liver my first born child and all of my pokemon collection to be that guy in the red shirt next to chippendale
@metal4deth one. you spelled 'death' wrong. two. if you can ever take your head out of your ass for minute and realize how many types of music exists, you'd probably learn to appreciate this more. i love this band and have seen them live, and i bet you aint never seen a drummer as fast or precise as Brian Chippendale. (besides Zach Hill) this band represents raw power in small numbers and what can be done between two friends with passion and drive. original, yes/ powerful, yes/ shit?, fuck you
This is not for just anybody, you start to dissect the music your just missing the point. We need crap like this because it sounds different. After a while it grows on you.
Lightning Bolt is great. I love them for all the reasons I can't stand bands like Dream Theater. I find DT over calculated and lacking soul. I find LB's music soulful and absolutely inspiring. Joyful noise.

I don't like this drummer at all. He has trouble with volume and technique. He's sloppy and it's just sad. If you want to get better, learn the basics and progress... learn from Neil Peart.
you're missing the point. what you perceive as sloppiness is intentional, that's just the kind of music that lightning bolt make. it isn't aiming to be precise or beautiful (at least, not conventionally), it's intense and noisy. and fucking magnificent.

I disagree. I've seen performances of this song several times... the drummer is a different kind of "sloppy" all the time. I don't view that as intentional.
Further more, for "intense" drummers, you should turn your views to Dream Theater stuff. Their drummer is great, and talented... not just a kid who likes noise.
@Charactarantula00 Original yes, good not really. With only 2 band members there is not much coordination and the guitar stuff is too easy, its just some crap effects and a bunch of pull offs.
neil peart plays with the feel of a circusdrummer - this guy is cool ,... oh and by the way - talking about sloppy,
listen to some zappa-stuff (on jazz from hell f. i. ) - it is completly tight, but if someone doesn't know about it - it will sound very untight or unorganized to him (same counts vor Stockhausen or seriell music in general).
That guy doesn't need to learn from Neil Peart nor Mike Portnoy ...
I would like to see Lightning Bolt and JEFF The Brotherhood set up across from each other playing back and forth for three hours. That must be what heaven is like.
I know some hater's gonna say that would be hell but I'll save you the trouble: see them live and you'll know.
ever hear any live Cream like spoonfull or I'm so glad Clapton ,bruce , and baker, are all just soloing and it sounds like noise this is the same in my opinion. this is just the future of music
made a cover of lightning bolt, in my style. the song faire folk from the album ride the sky. I call it maze number 4. check it in myspace......./noiasound
Well - lets see England has had many noise bands starting with Whitehouse and Throbbing Gristle . Germany has had a bunch too, starting with Einstruzende Neubauten (sp?)
Japan and America (specifically Providence Rhode Island) are more well known for their noise bands. Don't get me wrong there are a ton of great ones around the world, but the more popular ones (Lightning Bolt, Arab on radar, melt Banana, Boredoms, ect.) tend to come from those areas.
they went on jerry springer as a joke... and didn't even promote the band aside from pearson wearing a shirt that nobody outside of the know would have noticed. dicking around on a television show and not mentioning your band doesn't make you a sellout...

Clearly, your rendering of art is quite focused.
Mike P. is a great drummer in his own right, where you begin to compare the two I don't understand.
There's a million drummers that make a sound like Dream Theater, which I find ordinary and melodramatic.
Plus have you seen LB live?
Have you ever had Sloppy sex?
I view LB as more original and creative.
But that's coming from a kid who sees and hears music as more than a noise...you see?
