Me, too. I've just this minute ordered "Ernman, Malena: Arias, Lieder and Cabaret songs" CD from Amazon. And, I am stunned by the Barcelona duet she did which is here on YouTube. In one version the lip sync is out, but the other is fine.

Why "Finally"? Opera singers are normal people, so they can be funny of course. But if you mean by it that she is funny when she sings, i just want to tell that Opera singers aren't clowns.We don't need clowns in Opera. Maybe Malena is a nice person, and this is great but why this comment "Finally a FUNNY Opera singer"??? I don't understand. She must be "finally a GREAT opera singer" and funny in interview or with friends doesn't matter, but for public she has just to be good singer!!!

Can you beleive that some comments about her entry in ESC with "La Voix", says she can't sing - EVEN in the opera parts!?:-s

In "La Voix", she sounds like a castralto and she also doesn't belt like most pop singers in the lower part of the song. It's not what most people (who are used to pop music) would expect. The recording studio might have altered her voice just a little for the high part or more likely she has chosen not to carry her full voice to the top. Regardless of all, her voice is very agile and can get quite thin in the higher register sometimes.

@norisv There has definitely not been any studio messing with her voice. It's just the difference between her chest versus head voice. She is a lyrical mezzo and even though her bottom notes can be quite meaty and contralto-ish she often sounds like a light soprano in the top register. I agree, "agile" is a very good word for describing her voice!
