No bolts no gas lines no hoses no wires..... Bull shit let c you do that first you start it tear it a part put it together and start it then I'll believe it..
all that then fat boy spends half the time jacking the thing up , you would think that it would be built into the rig rather than the trolly jack , milf
Actually if you take a look at the G749 series of cargo trucks in the 50's they were designed to have the entire powertrain/brushguard/radiator/transfer case assembly pulled as 1 whole unit for ease of service and replacement. Well over 3000lbs in weight, not a job for a dinky engine hoist. Anyway, with todays technology this sort of stuff is just plain possible. While the above was staged, still cool to watch.
Funny thing is...this isn't how its done at all...and this was obviously rehearsed...she claims shes never changed a tire...but she knew right where to go to unlatch the hood and heater box and what not...totally not a realistic representation of what it's really like...I've done them...and it anit that easy...sorry
they didnt connect or disconnect shit... manifolds, transmission, air filter, fuel lines or even the electronics... how the hell is the engine even supposed to start if its not connected to the ignition?? no battery.... BS
You are all dumb! That wasnt a hmmwv engine, or a real engine at all. Theirs no quick connect fittings on a HMMWV. Did anyone think about motor mounts?!?! NOPE you did not. What about conneting the transmision, radiator, power steering, oil cooler, throtle linkage, kick down cable, brake booster, intake, exaust, wireing harness, ect. I HATE IDIOTS!!!!!!
bet yeah if that front end was banged up a bit and it jammed that nifty intercooler swingmabober it would take an hour to just take that off ... and with all that high teck crap why isnt there a hydraulic motor in the engine hoist to lift it lol
@Auszug21 What do you mean there is no such thing as quick disconnect....? Transmission and coolant lines are pretty simple to set up. Haven't you ever seen hydraulic or even pneumatic quick connects for trailers? They just plug into a sleeve, to disconnect you pull the sleeve back and separate the lines. If the starter is already mounted to the engine, it would be fairly simple to have electrical connections just plug right in. It might not have been fully functional, but still cool.
This is kinda cheating they have quick connect couplings for all the fittings, and what seems to be a custom built engine jack. And they did not prove that the engine runs let alone move the monstrosity u guys call a car!
If u wish to see a real engine change go and look up "42 second engine change" on youtube ;)
Everyone is quick to judge, but it is possible that they have quick connect couplings for all the fittings including exhaust, coolant, electrical and AC. Some of these couplings could have even been grouped together in one or two large connection manifolds making the job faster. So, the engine may be functional, we don't know because they didn't start it. Still impressive nonetheless.
that shows nothing.. it wasn t connected at all, neither the new one or the old one.. it only demonstrates how you can move a big piece of steel from one place to another fast. the same thing was if you ve done it on the floor
@dd16v71 ..people spit on us overseas because apologists like you let them, instead of breaking their nose. BTW, that engine exchange system is in operation today, it does work, but you really dont care about that anyway. You just like to be angry and hate this country.
Alright, that's fine but let's see you do it in that amount of time with all the wires, bolts, and hoses connected. Not gonna happen, I can tell you that for sure.
My AM General tech did a swap on my H1 in about 8-9 hours, that's pulling the cooling stack, discharging the A/C, and pulling and replacing the 6.5 Turbo diesel with a complete block from AMG. The truck was back on the road in the evening. That being said some dealers like to bill weeks for the job and that's just lazy. This engine setup looks similar to the M1's modular power plant, quick swap. Yes they probably have to hook a few things up but doing that much work that fast is still impressive
You will notice nothing on eather engine is hooked up all they did was drop the engine in theres nothing hooked up. It is cool to see how you put the engine in though but there is no way you could turn the humvee on and get it running with what they did.
i wonder if the radiator, air intake and exhaust system was even connected to do that. and i also wonder how much practice it took to do that actually
and what oil, coolant electric????

If it was that easy to actually change the motor in a hmmwv as it is actually spelled, I might like the damn things.
