this works because a rock band mic is just a logitec usb mic with a custom logo on it.

Sweet I may just get one of these just to have a USB mic. can you get one of these w/o buying the game b/c I dont have a PS3. I have an extra USB cord sticking out next to my external HD i can plug it in there and just set the mic on my monitor. how is the directional quality, is the mic omnidirectional like can it pick up distant sounds or no?

i used a rockband mic and fl studio to make a couple of tracks check it out!!!

it works!

plug in the mic and when the "found new hardware" screen pops up...click install new hardware and it will search for the drivers automatically...it might pop up again win and show another screen...this time its an audio driver...do the same thing and it should work. test it out in the sound recorder and you will see the result.

Well, normally you would need an application of some kind for this.

Usually audio recording programs will have a "monitor" switch that will route the microphone audio to the output, meaning you will hear your voice through the speakers as you sing. Atleast that is how it works with inputs on a normal sound card. I can't say for sure how the USB interface will change anything.
