  • I saw this film for the first time today. It was strange considering the fact that the only other movie I have seen Rex Harrison in is "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir." I knew it was him when he first appeared in the beginning of this movie.

  • beautiful voice but they could've at least found a voice that matches closer to hepburn or at least combine the hers with nixon's so it would be more realistic sounding like it was with wood in WSS

  • The chemtrailed rain is killing the plains all over the world. The chemtrail plane sprays poison in the rain.

  • The reindeer in Spain got hit mainly by the plane...

If you've ever watched Whose Line Is It Anyway you'll get my meaning;)

  • @CatGal the voice belongs to Marni Nixon (who also dubbed Natalie Wood in WEST SIDE STORY)

  • This sounds like Julie Andrews voice with Audrey Hepburn's face

  • Aw bloody 'ell! I gone and wet meself!

  • lol I know this is weird but can someone help me with an assignment about Pygmalion the play?? I have to pretend I'm professor Higgins and record my impressions on how the experiment with Eliza will go, the day after Eliza moves into his house

  • Marni Nixon dubbed for Audrey Hepburn's voice in all musical numbers.

  • The top highest quality films ever made, well surprise surprise they were ALL made in the '60s.

So much for todays HD generated rubbish.

All shot onto 70mm film the following 5 films have the highest resolution (highest picture quality) and all make todays modern computer generated films look awful.

    1. Laurence of Arabia 2. Breakfast at Tiffany's 3. My Fair Lady 4. Zulu 5. The Sound of Music

  • The way to train is mainly with a brain...

Yeah, I doubt many of you will get that.

  • @303Nohbdy i get it heeheehee ;)

  • @MRSVISHOUS2012 So did you see Frankenstein Has No Legs? That's where the line came from.

    Wow, talk about revival...

  • 48 people aren't sure if she's got it

  • seems like a pretty FUCKING random movie. this was always in the p[reviews for my winnieh the pooh videos when i was a kid :P

  • i never seen this movie

  • The life of the wife is ended by the knife!

  • I went to Spain and camped out on that soggy plain. Was in Spain for 10 days and never did it rain so long or hard as it did on that plain! So, indeed, the rain in Spain stays MAINLY in the plain!

  • @MissAthenaGirl Were you in Spain for an event called World Youth Day?

  • The first time I heard this when he said 'where is that soggy plain' I laughed so hard I cried XD

  • is it me or does her singing kinda sound like julie andrews?

  • @Zabeeality Did you know that Julie Andrews was up for first casting for this film as she and Rex Harrison both did the original stage version of the play, and in fact all the songs sung by Audrey are dubbed by another singer, Rex good old boy had his songs recorded live on stage of the film with a microphone hidden in his tie, as he could not replicate the same performance twice.

  • the rain, in spain, falls mainly ON DEADLY GROUND

  • Im probably alone in laughing my ass off at the first three times she says that.

  • Damon Salvatore brought me here when he said Stefan was upstairs singing The Rain In Spain :) lol

  • @bettyboo125boo HAHAHA :D !! me tooo ......

  • The reindeer in Spain was hit mainly by the plane.

  • @juneradar

    hahahahaaaaaaa

    colin fucking owns

  • I find it funny that the "Rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain" appears absolutely no where in the original play "Pygmallion".

  • @EYDstudios And Higgins was never in love with Eliza-- this is Hollywood.

  • @BarnabasFrid Yeah.... I like both, it's just a fun observation.

  • "The raindeer in Spain was hit mainly by the plane."

  • @RichardElden

Stop calling her cancer girl, she's done more for a better world, then you will ever can do.

When you don't have anything friendly to say, you better say nothing.

    Blödmann.

  • This has got to be remade with the cast like this... Eliza - CAREY MULLIGAN Prof. Higgins - HUGH LAURIE Doolittle - ROWAN ATKINSON Col. Pickering - STEPHEN FRY Mrs. Higgins - HELEN ATKINSON-WOOD Freddy - ? Zoltan Karpathy - ? Mrs. Pearce - MIRANDA RICHARDSON Man saying "Wadaya tike me for, a fool?" - TONY ROBINSON Higgins's butler - ROBERT EAST George V - BRIAN BLESSED Lord Boxington - TIM McINNERNY
  • brillant. Im going spain

  • i love the Family guy parody of My Fair Lady.

"the life of the wife is ended by the knife" :D

  • I adore this movie. I grew up watching this movies when I was younger. My mother introduced this film to my sibling and I. She also loved this film when she was young. When I found that the show Family Guy was loosely based on this musical I was surprised. Now all these other entertainment professionals are mentioning this play as well. Its good that the word it getting out.

  • @gmscorpio111691 Yeah, Stewie's character is based on Rex Harrison's character from this film. Great film indeed!

  • that's the answerphone of the company where I work..

  • "The Reindeer in Spain was hit Mainly by the Plane"

Thumbs if that brought you here

  • if you don't have any idea of what's going on in the story, this song is completely pointless. lol

  • O_o Bullfighting? I think those three are suffering from sleep-depravation....

  • And wheres that blasted rain! IN SPAIN, IN SPAIN! I want some of what they r on!

  • The life of the wife is ended by the knife!

  • @pablo2by4 Dark bro, dark indeed lol.

  • 22 people didnt like it??? LOLOLOL....probably they just came from a Lady Gaga´s performance.

  • @masefu0 dude they don't like it it's their opian, they might not like this kind of music (and by the way lady gaga's music has nothing to do with their choise of music, they can be into classic music and like her music as well)

  • The best part is when he's finally nice to her and treats her like a human she's GOT IT! But he doesn't get it. lol

  • 1:39 and where's that blasted plain

    seriously funny

  • I like the part where they talked about the rain in spain.

  • @AnimatedRosie I like that part too! :D

  • The life of the wife is ended by the knife...

  • @PrototypeAndroid Well, My Fair Lady was actually inspired by Pygmalion, and it turned out pretty nicely didn't it? I agree no one now tops Audry Hepburn, but maybe in a couple of years?

  • The rine in Spine sties minely in the pline.

  • @PrototypeAndroid I agree. It's a classic and should remain 'the only one'. I just hope and pray for them NOT to have a remake of Gone with the Wind or Casablanca.

  • @PrototypeAndroid just cause you don't know who the good actors are these days doesn't mean they're not there, you just watch bad actors.

  • The Life of the Wife Is Ended by the Knife

  • love the randomness of this song!

  • thanks but i've seen it.

  • "i think shes got it, i think shes got it" "by GOD she gots it, by GOD she gots it"

  • Audrey Hepburn is fantastic, Rex Harrison showed great acting. This was a decent movie, although I much prefer the book, Pygmalion.

So anyway, it is outrageous that Oscar picked this movie over Dr. Strangelove.

  • I never understood this... rain IN a plain? What´s that supposed to mean?

  • @xxxEmmureOwnxxx lol i didnt pay much attention the first time i watched it. i was talking 2 my mom like what just happened? why is she sing ing this song? who is that guy? now its my fav movie!

  • Is Audrey Hepburn really singing that?

  • @TheSuperFeminist Sung by Marnie Nixon but no credit in the movie of course.

  • Lovely movie... but I hope "the rain in Easter weekend goes out of Spain"!!!

  • Ok, now Hellen...now say "Water..."

  • This scene would be so confusing to watch if you haven't seen the movie...

  • the reindeer in spain was hit mainly by the plane

  • @thevortex916 Yes!!

  • Audrey Hepburn was quite good in that movie, but i think that Julie Andrews would have madethe best my fair lady ever in the cinema!!

  • @JamaicaForDreams20 Well disagree. I like Julie Andrews but Audrey had much more 'class' for My Fair Lady without doubt.

  • @RunningTopMale Well, i respect your opinion, but i totally disagree with it, because i think Julie was much more natural, funnier, elegant, and definitely would bring more shine to the movie than Audrey. But, of course, this is just my opinion :)

  • Rex Harrison is perfect in the part!

  • And the sleet in Crete stays neatly in the street! :D

  • The Hungarian version: "Lent délen meseszép éjen édes édent remélsz!" :)

In love with this song fom my childhood... :)

  • @Emmelinegirl Magyarorszag is the BEST!

  • @fickole It is not Hungarian.

  • I adore this movie, but it is so obvious that she is lip syncing. (Btw, I know that almost every movie does that, but it is just soooo obvious in this particular scene.)

  • @RegentCupid Her voice is dubbed by Marni Nixon. I know her.

  • 20 people never saw this film.

  • How kind of him to let her come.

  • @Sdmtgfhnznhgn thats what she said lol

  • hahah, in the spanish version she says: "La lluvia en Sevilla es una maravilla" (the rain in Seville is something wonderful)

  • julie andrews singing, no kiddin !

  • some time ago Miguel Indurain, cyclist from Spain had an accident on an airliner>the headline-Indurain from Spain falls mainly on the plane....

  • I think she's got it, I think she's got it!

  • @Nat4Brendan By George, she's got it!

  • "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer dead at 53... over Barcelona today the famed reindeer was hit by a flock of seagulls and 747... an eye witness report: The Reindeer in Spain was hit mainly by the plane" - Colin Mochrie (Whose Line: improv game show)

  • love this scene!!! <3

  • Beautiful post! Thanks!

  • The reindeer in spain was hit mainly by the plane

  • Wow how times have changed. This is set in the early 20th century when social mobility was very rare. But by the late 20th century social mobility had become very common. A new word was even coined to describe the new upwardly mobile the yuppies, standing for young upwardly mobile professionals, who had worked their way up from the lower classes into the high paid ranks of the middle classes. I know a few old friends from my youth who are now high paid proffesionals.

  • The Rain in Spain falls Mainly on the homless :p

  • Moses supposes his toeses are roses, but Moses supposes erroneously.

  • @StormZephyr For nobody's toeses are bouquets of roses, as Moses supposes his toeses to be.

  • @emmadilemmasings A mose is a mose!

  • i didn't get the johnny bravo episode til i saw this clip in a warner brothers documentary.

  • family guy sent me here

  • @trulychloe I was sent to Family Guy from here :P

  • i knw im gonna get alot of flack for this but i grew up in the south and i hated and still hate the southern accent..they take 1 word and turn it into 3...i think the lot of them must be forced to watch this movie....no one can argue that thier accent is improper and out side of the south they are laughed at, bad english is bad english...

  • y was he helping her with her accent in the first place?

  • @MultiPearl007 because he had a bet that he cud turn her into a propar lady and so she could own a flower shop

  • oh god, may the rain fu**ing stay in spain!

  • I love this song. It´s so funny and cheerful

"In Hartford, Hereford and Hampshire hurricanes hardly happen"

"How kind of you to let me come"

Anyone can tell me how "The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain" was translated / dubbed to other languages like french, italian or german?

  • @MrAntinoo In french, the rain in spain became "Un ciel serein en Espagne et sans embruns".

But the translation was awkward, because the heart of the movie was, in my opinion, the english language. I think it would have been better to remake it all in french, to recreate its spirit.....but it would have meant a movie without Audrey Hepburn, I guess.....so definately no xD

[Sorry for the mistakes I must have made ;)]

  • @MrAntinoo in spanish "la lluvia en Sevilla es una maravilla",nothing to do with original :)

  • Amazing!!

  • The Rain in Spain stays Mainly in the Plain.

  • @ausiuchi What was that?

  • @ausiuchi agaaiin

  • @ausiuchi What was that?

  • I just got done reading Pygmalion and our class is watching this, this movie is the only motion picture I've ever seen that fallows the original book so perfectly!

  • @icefire65 Actually this was a play by George Bernard Shaw, but this was indeed based off of Pygmalion. In the play, though, she winds up with Freddie instead of Higgins.

  • luv the joy + happiness in this song-luv this song altogether

  • Thats great now perhaps he might move on to teaching the rest of the population to pronounce words properly.

  • Me acabo de enterar que Rain rima con Spain

  • No encuentro esta canción con doblaje español.

  • Listen out for two voices - 0:47 to 0:52.

  • It was the voice of Marni Nixon in the movie. She also dubbed the voice of Natalie Wood in West Story and Deborah Kerr in King and I

  • @du6053 wow! u know your dubs! not mant people know that natalie wood didnt actually sing in west side story! and its kind of funny with the king and i! I was doing a project on the musical and i saw that Rita Moreno was Tuptim and i just thought like do they enjoy working together b cuz its funny how they wer in the two movies together! lamo.

  • oh how i was so addicted to the songs of this movie few years ago..... (heart) love it.......

  • @ddmnlm0, She says 'hurricanes' but not pronounced as we Americans do!!

  • at 1:23, what does she say before "hardly happen"?

  • 0:47 to 0:52. How many voices do you hear? One or two?

  • 0:47 to 0:52 Audrey Hepburn and Marni Nixon are heard here. Listen to the first line when it is sung properly.

  • Audrey Hepburn is absolutely adorable. <3 RIP.

  • Dear God, hear my Youtube prayer and please prevent the release of Emma Thompson's remake of My Fair Lady. There is only one true version, and this one is it. Audrey Hepburn is fantastic! Long live the 20th century and it's great movies and classic actors.

  • its acctually so easy to say!!!

  • I love Audrey Hepburn! She is fabulous!! And such a beautiful and great actress! This is one of my favorite movies- it's got everything- a good plot, excellent music, realistic actors!! <3

  • GOODNESS I love this movie. :D

  • OHH Bloody elll ive gone an wet me self!

  • i know...if i like musicals i'm gay. but i like em.

  • @antiagingdr No you're not gay, you just like musicals...lol.

Nothing wrong with liking singing and music. Was Bach gay? Was Claude Debussy gay? Beethoven was a badass and could probably kick all of the pussies/insecure men-who define their manhood by stereotypical labels- who would have dared call him gay.

  • @Sshelly34213 thanks. my manhood is secure for another day.

  • @nancymarkovich1 No probs.

Quite frankly the chicks dig it anyway, and you're not trying to hook up with man, so who cares.

  • This is why cinema is an amazing thing. This is movie making at it's best. Hepburn is truly the last great actress. I can't think of anyone who can be as good as her.

  • the life of the wife is ended by the knife

  • The life of the wife is ended by the knife. (thumbs up if you get the reference)

  • @DoctorChibi740 well, i didn't. please tell me!!!!!!!!!!! haha i'm curious now.

  • @DoctorChibi740 HAHA when i first saw this movie and this scene i automatically thought of this (y) good job!

  • @DoctorChibi740 Spanish bullfighting is right up there with whale hunting in Maine. Lizzie Borden took an ax, gave her mother 40 whacks......

  • @DoctorChibi740 I don't... mind telling me?
