Here's how it should be, or at least how I would have seen it when I was in .. let's say .. Grade 9. Having the President of the United States give a speech just for kids in school would be like having Ringo Starr give such a speech. I would be really excited and it would have made me feel important and special and certainly would have been real encouragement to do well in school. Not the usual "Inspirational Speaker" that is usually paid money to speak to high school kids. The President!

Thank God for our president. As a teacher I see students every day who need to hear from everyone, parents, friends, teachers, that they can be great. Too many students lack the support to think that they can acheive their dreams. When the message comes from our president it carries extra weight and adds support to what parents and students are telling their children.
I hope that this annual back to school speech will continue, no matter who is in office, regardless of political party.

Here's how it should be, or at least how I would have seen it when I was in .. let's say .. Grade 9. Having the President of the United States give a speech just for kids in school would be like having Ringo Starr give such a speech. I would be really excited and it would have made me feel important and special and certainly would have been real encouragement to do well in school. Too many people blame the teachers, the system, etc:, but the real problem is parental involvement. If you want to see your child succeed, then GET INVOLVED! That means making sure the children EAT a good breakfast, dress appropriately, and work hard.

Thank God for our president. As a teacher I see students every day who need to hear from everyone, parents, friends, teachers, that they can be great. Too many students lack the support to think that they can acheive their dreams. When the message comes from our president it carries extra weight and adds support to what parents and students are telling their children.
I hope that this annual back to school speech will continue, no matter who is in office, regardless of political party.

Most parents don't do this? I haven't come across one parent that doesn't believe education - and a good one - is important. So I'd love to know where your statistic comes from.
The point being we don't need Mr Lies here - or anyone from gov - doing our parenting or reaching the impressionable minds of youth with their double-talk while they loot the economy. As if they're someone to look up to.

Republicans shouldn't support a Federal Government monopoly on education. For that matter, no one should support such a monopoly on education. It leads to a social monoculture that kills creativity and innovation.
