I hate when people bitch about the nationality of a show. I hate it more when they think being that nationality makes it OK to just not like the show because of the nationality. On the show's Wikipedia page it says "the world will become unsustainable to the soaring population within four months". But this is mathematical nonsense. Even if everybody really did stop dying, the world's population would barely change in such a short period of time. Overpopulation would NOT be a problem!

Series 1, 2 and Children of Earth are worth checking out. You get the full back story of Torchwood, the connection to Doctor Who, and you get to see a ton of awesome British actors like Burn Gorman, Naoko Mori, and Gareth David-Lloyd work their magic on screen. To be far I have not seen Miracle Day but from what I have seen Bill Pullman and Mekhi Phifer leave a lot to be desired with their performances. Im an American Whovian. Torchwood is a spinoff, but dosen't need crossovers to be good.

Remember when they had a secret underground base, a team of interesting characters, emotionally driven stories about sacrifice and a freaking pterodactyl? Now they just sit around and occasionally Bill Pullman shows up in an unrelated plot.
I'm on ep4 when are we going to see some aliens or anything this isn't like the normal torchwood...4 episodes and still nothing. It seems cheaply produced compared to the old torchwood. Where are the Cybermen or Daleks? So far it's just a run around action flick. If that's all they're going to do then I don't expect this show to last long. It needs something robots, aliens, FFS! New Dr Who comes out next month so if they still suck by then I won't care.

@spirit0423 I think the flip is meant to be more superficial than detailed. In the first episode, they clarified it as "the mortal became immortal, and the immortal became mortal". Who knows what the underlying cause is yet. They could very well show us a plot that explains how the phenomena could both subvert mortality and reverse Jack's specific kind of immortality.

Its not a reboot... its Kinda a Spin-off. the series ended with the disolving of Torchwood. Here, it's being re-activated. sort of. its a technicallity, but yeah.

As much as I praise Torchwood for being a success especially in intelligently putting in LGBT content and making it an important factor in the show....sometimes I can't help but feel that stuff it gets too obtuse and shoehorned. There were parts of season 2 that felt like Russell T. Davies was using Torchwood not to tell good stories but to push an LGBT agenda. The only reason I hope it gets downplayed is because Jack seducing everyone kinda undermines the seriousness and direness of the plot
@nonamexg18 I'd like to know how he's pushing an LGBT agenda when half of Jack's relationships (when they delve into his backstory) are with women as well as men, and his major romances (on screen) have been Rose (on Doctor Who), Ianto, and (above all) Gwen.
@RoyalGuard503 the fact that almost every member of torchwood (not just Jack) wants to have sex with one another and this gets played not for laughs but as something normal. Series 2's 1st episode "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" really seemed to push the whole "liberated sexuality" theme into the forefront at the cost of Torchwood's AMAZING sci-fi plot and themes. I'd rather watch Queer as Folk or the L Word for my LGBT fill. Still: Amazing series though, I guess I'm feeling a little Welsh lol.

Besides, Gwen and Jack (and to a lesser extent, Rhys and Andy) constantly have character development. It's a thing called "good writing".

As much as I praise Torchwood for being a success especially in intelligently putting in LGBT content and making it an important factor in the show....sometimes I can't help but feel that stuff it gets too obtuse and shoehorned. There were parts of season 2 that felt like Russell T. Davies was using Torchwood not to tell good stories but to push an LGBT agenda. The only reason I hope it gets downplayed is because Jack seducing everyone kinda undermines the seriousness and direness of the plot

@RoyalGuard503 the fact that almost every member of torchwood (not just Jack) wants to have sex with one another and this gets played not for laughs but as something normal. Series 2's 1st episode "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" really seemed to push the whole "liberated sexuality" theme into the forefront at the cost of Torchwood's AMAZING sci-fi plot and themes. I'd rather watch Queer as Folk or the L Word for my LGBT fill. Still: Amazing series though, I guess I'm feeling a little Welsh lol.

@TheyCallMeWade Yeah, and? Character development should be seen as a good thing. I mean, Tosh and Owen didn't get any development until season 2, which made their deaths seem gimmicky, and, save for Cyberwoman and Children of Earth, Ianto didn't develop much either. He felt very flat which is probably why I don't get people's attachment to them.
Besides, Gwen and Jack (and to a lesser extent, Rhys and Andy) constantly have character development. It's a thing called "good writing".

It's the same reason why he explains he's worried for River in the new series. Just because she died at the library doesn't mean it's fixed.

Take the IT Crowd, great show. Tried to do it in America (with one of the British Actors) and it didn't even get picked up.
Being Human. Love the original. Watched the US version...Not so much. (Wait, maybe that is because of the actors they are just not as convincing/sympathetic as the originals.)

@dinger136 Except, if you look at the BBC's website, they didn't fork the rights to Starz. BBC still owns the rights. Starz Original is the name of the production company. Use google.
When I say "joint production", I mean it's a 50/50 collaboration, which the BBC wouldn't even make money off of to begin with, since the BBC is government funded, and non-profit.
