this was a hit in england for wayne gibson too a bigger hit for him than the who too his version reached number 17 in the english charts this version only reached number 44
@K1SSMYGLASS aaactually, the members of the who say they found their sound when covering other music. so maybe the who is not the band for you. then again, maybe i don't know what i'm talking about. but i think i do.
On this and alot of the early Who, it can be hard to tell exactly what Keith is doing in the song. Its far down in the mix and his style is hard to pinpoint as on this song.
wait....the who was trying to help the Rolling Stones make bail on drug charges when they were already 4 albums deep? those guys were rolling in dough! oh well, at least we got this cover out of it.
Big fan of The Who and The 'Stones here. For me this cover is better than thier take on "The Last Time". One would've expected more aggressive drumming on this track..
Nice - though the new Odds and Sods album mixes out the lead guitar part; it's nice to hear them back in the mix. That and "The Last Time" are such great renditions.

no version compares with the original, version of the Stones will always be the best of all.

Pete Townshend plays bass on this track as well.
Entwhistle was honeymooning on the Isle of Whyte at the time.
Song was recorded "to keep the Rolling Stones music before the public while Jagger Richards are in jail" as support for them.
And publicity for the Who too.

@gonzoredux I know, how the fuck could they "forget" to put the guitar track on - maybe Pete made somebody mad.

I prefer the Stones original, but as a huge Who fan, I find this pretty interesting :-)

Not a bad cover, just a vile and disgusting song.
