Which is better Final Cut Pro and Motion, or Adobe After Effects? I am switching to a Mac and was hoping with the first two software types mentioned that I would be able to eliminate the need of After Effects without losing the ability to create videos with really neat effects. Opinions?

@SprousevilleFilms sure thing man.. the program he is using in this video is the older version of motion :) which means that motion 5 would accomplish something better than the old version

As a work around, you can navigate to the library menu, and grab one of the pyro particles to create your own fire background directly within Apple Motion.

There are many stock footage companies that have various 'fire' backgrounds that you can purchase. Problem is, they are sometimes super expensive.

what if u put this clip into final cut and made it V2 and the original keyed and matted clip V1 and then overlayed V2 onto V1? would it look nicer, more realistic and like the movie??

@parttimehuman what do u mean... wouldnt be terrible hard or long (i use FCE, nvr used motion before but at least on FCE it wouldnt be too bad)

If you added a feather to her figure would it help with pixelation on her outside edges?

Yes - the usual tool to refine/feather key edges in Motion is a Matte Choker or Matte Magic filter (Filters -> Matte -> Choker/Magic).

The pixelation is actually my fault, not Motion's: I grabbed this footage from our library without realizing it was shot/captured HDV. Avoid HDV: among other evils, it does serious chroma subsampling - not hugely noticeable until you go to pull a key. You can fix that on the source footage w/ a Chroma Smooth filter in FCP. Really helps w/ jaggies.
