it depends on what there gender is. it sounds as if buffy is a boy and saria is a girl, then you may have baby gerbils on your hands, and the females don't like being held if they are pregnant. and if they are both boys, and you got them at different times, they natrually fight over territory, if you want two males, you should get them at the same time. and if they are both girls... usually they dont fight, but sometimes they do. thats all i can help you with. hope it helps
You obviously have NO experience with gerbils, they sell those wheels because they use less material and they label them gerbil safe because they want money. Rarely manufactuers care about the animal. And that is not a coated wheel, so it can give there mouth soars and hurt their noses. Those wheels can snap tails off EVEN if they hold them up! Maybe you should have some knowledge before you blab your incorrect thoughts to us.

@jurbilz Yeah, gerbils are not very friendly towards strangers... I too have battle scars from separating a gerbil ball of death. I had one latch onto my finger once and not let go... horrible day.
Just to let you know... those wheels are dangerous for gerbils, as their tails might get stuck when running on them. Also, if they chew on metal, they mess up their teeth.

This is play fighting, a real gerbil fight involves them curling up in a ball of death and biting each other until one is dead or severely injured.

i had gerbils
when they used to fight
i would try to break them up
and then the big white girl one(sarah) would bite me hard.
my gerbils became friends
but you really shouldnt let them fight like that.
but then again..
when my gerbils bit they held on.
