totally real the 105 military version modified with a stiff head is no problem , but training is needed not many normal pilots can do this they think they can , but the 105 is an amassing machine , dial it up and enjoy
trick photography..... even with the poor quality clip, its pretty obvious that it is an actual heli performing the aerobatics, just a shame it's not a BK117.
@rennager1 right, and just because it is not an American helicopter an pilot it automatically qualifies it as a fake.... wake up friends in the US. Ask yourselves who invented the helicopter ;-)
Helicopter Flight Instructor here -- any student pilots or people thinking of taking flight training should take away from this video how small his control movements are with his hand. You can see the helicopter is doing crazy shit and he's moving his hand probably less than two inches. Take a deep breathe, relax, and chill out. If you're an airplane pilot let go, more right pedal.
fuck trying to out fly this dude he is awesome but im not sure i would want to fly in any helicopter that dude has flown it looks like the helicopter takes some abuse awesome video poor effects
Yep thats all legit helicopter flying in a highly modified machine to take all the positive and negative G pushovers. Excellent skills and very large balls.
I would guess its a german army BO105. And having seen this actually in real life... these manouvers are possible with this little machine. (stills needs flying skills though)
his name is Chuck Aaron. He is the official helicopter pilot for the Redbull Extreme team. He Customized that helicopter greatly to be able to pull off his aerobatics.
Interesting...but I've seen a Cobra over Danang Harbor skim the waves at 170+ mph, pull vertical into a Hammerhead stall, kick the tail around and dive. The pilot pulled out of the dive and headed back the way he came at the same speed and altitude. Show something like this and then I will be impressed. Otherwise, ho hum.
I can't see what he's doing...cut, cut, cut, cut...really stupid editing. Let me watch what's happening. Every time something interesting is about to happen, there's a cut. arrrgghh!
This is a MBB-105, which is now part of Eurocopter. If you think it may be trick photography. Go check out the Red Bull Helicopter stunt pilot. He too uses the MBB-105. It was developed for medical transport, but has adapted well to just about every mission.
You can't do this with Gazelle. You can do something similar with Lynx because of the rigid hub.....but not with the same agility (Lynx is a heavier aircraft).
Yes it's real, several heli's are capable of back flips by only the most skilled of pilots. The reverse pitch mentioned below would be turbine suicide unless computer controlled and governed by the TOT and turbine and transmission output pressure, temp ,and torque gauges to name a few.The negative pitch is ONLY for Lift off/set down in: extreme weather emergency situations and on or off of moving pads to apply downforce until tie downs are secured or removed.Like from a ship in high seas.
This is totally real, in efect, the reverse blade pitch feature allows helicopters to fly upsidedown, this wasnt posible before this model of helicopter ( a German design ) as well as the "Tiger" attack helicopter appeared, currently only the Tiger helicopter and this German model are the only two helicopters that can perform upside down fligh and this is due to their reverse pitch feature on their main rotor blades.
@crzzymnn911 Hiya! I hope you get an answer on your question. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY! I FOR ONE APPRECIATE YOU AND ALL THE OTHER GUYS. My son is a Marine. Not active now, but he still is a Marine. Good Luck!!
Is this the same pilot from that video where the same looking BO-105 is flying real close to trees also old footage, flying low and fast...called "Insane Helicopter Pilot"..
@hunts168 Well, indeed, due to it's "rigid rotor system" and it's extremely lightweight design the Bo-105 will easily outmanouver the apache, but it was designed for a totally different task, so, what they have in Bragg ain't that bad. ;)
The rigid rotor system on the 105 is what allows this kind of maneuverability The MBB 117 and now some Eurocopter Helo's have it also. Take a look at the Red Bull BO 105 videos for more great piloting.
Your right. The Guy that Flys loops with the Bo105 is just the same guy that flew the chopper in the vid. Its retired captain Rainer Wilke from the german army aviation school in Bückeburg, germany where this Film was made. Missed him there by a Year. He still is a legend at the Army aviators in Germany, no matter which one you ask.
And a very nice guy. You can see Stefan Raab fly with him on YouTube.
The army pilots at fort Bragg didn't do those maneuvers, the reason he is able to do those type of maneuvers is cause his helicopter has a rigid rotor system. The Apache, and Blackhawk helicopters have fully articulating rotor systems and are not capable of these maneuvers.
The MBB is one of the most maneuverable helicopters ever made aside from the Lynx, equipped with negative pitch they can do some pretty awkwardly amazing stunts.
@THEMSASBOYZ not very much at all ever in any circumstance no matter what given condition and any plausible or fathomable application regardless of what may occur in the future short of global chemotherapy.
oh wait, they make great mall cops, though "disturbed" kinda negates any plusses there...
@Evofight3r The Helicopter is a BO105 of the Heeresfliegerwaffenschule in Bückeburg, Niedersachsen. Identifiable through the squadron emblem on the nose.

@Fast2PiSquared this helicopter does not have reverse pitch, also all helicopters maintain power on with collective full down unless the pilot himself cuts the power. He is not actually hovering upside down but rather temporarily keeping the helicopter in an upside down position while descending.
@Fast2PiSquared normal sized bollocks. the pilot knows what the thing can and can't do. doing it two foot above the ground is what requires grapefruit.
